- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -18/+565I hope Heath Ledger gets the Oscar because he deserved it not because it was his last role.
- TheWriteGuy, on 12/05/2008, -7/+156Clever. Looks like something that the official viral campaign behind TDK would have done.
- lewystud, on 12/05/2008, -9/+156MY father...was...a drinker
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -7/+132if you are critical of the joker, heath ledger, or batman you will be dugg down even if your comment has validity.
- mywhitenoise, on 12/05/2008, -1/+102It did. You don't need some stupid award to acknowledge that.
- TracerMan, on 12/05/2008, -5/+99and a fiend...
- Cofaloaf, on 12/05/2008, -4/+94Why so serious?
- levitron, on 12/05/2008, -5/+93Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself...
- SasaLukac, on 12/05/2008, -4/+82He turns to me, and he says:
- mrnobody546, on 12/05/2008, -12/+89and one night he comes home all crazier then usual...
- mrnobody546, on 12/05/2008, -4/+74So me watching he takes the knife to her, laughing as he does it.
- DOCNM, on 12/05/2008, -8/+67And Jack Nicholson should accept it on his behalf.
- MeatBallsack, on 12/05/2008, -9/+68because 7 8 9
- scyphozoa, on 12/05/2008, -17/+73true to the style and clever, very nice. i am hoping heath ledgers role gets the recognition it is deserved.
- codeblue315, on 12/05/2008, -1/+53Oh and for every Oscar I don't win, people will die. I'm a man of my word.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -3/+39Well, either way he'll probably get some sort of "in remembrance" thing during the ceremony.
- Halsfield, on 12/05/2008, -0/+36same goes for most digg articles where people feel strongly about something. take every single marijuana thread for instance, or articles about apple products. even the slightest negativity in a comment earns you a burial.
- ubershmekel, on 12/05/2008, -0/+35And there should be a hologram of Cesar Romero dancing in the background.
- rjc5056, on 12/05/2008, -6/+37Way to ***** up the thread. It's "than." Is basic grammar no longer taught in grade school anymore?
- DigDugBikePump, on 12/05/2008, -2/+27It's not his last role... The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus is his last role, it comes out in 09.
- trdrstv, on 12/05/2008, -0/+22The acceptance speech should be read by Mark Hamil.
- freakstyle571, on 12/05/2008, -4/+24would have been better if he had left the "bat-ears" or whatever you want to call them off of the Oscar. Then it really would be all just graffiti on a poster.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -18/+37This guy didn't create it, but that type treatment in the background sucks balls.
- matrim2217, on 12/05/2008, -1/+17That's because all Diggers are Batman, who happens to smoke a lot of weed while surfing the web on his Mac.
- ryan899, on 12/05/2008, -0/+14They already did during last year's ceremony when they have the video montage of those who died. Hopefully they honor Brad Renfro this time around.
- sajorojas, on 12/05/2008, -1/+14lol
- mablung, on 12/05/2008, -2/+13Correct me if I am wrong here but aren't you comparing a lead actor to a supporting one? Different categories.
- Tirako, on 12/05/2008, -4/+15He deserves an award for the Pencil trick
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=2KX3OriDpgg - bbliss17, on 12/05/2008, -5/+16That was awesome
- screwthename, on 12/06/2008, -1/+11rjc5056, why so serious?
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -14/+24I think they should rename the Oscar to the Heath. This role was the epitome of what this award strives to celebrate. Heath went well above and beyond the role that was delivered to him in ink.
He took this widely recognized character that is heavily scrutinized by a very critical fan-base from a multitude of genres (from the great Jack Nicholson to Mark Hamill to thousands of artist renderings) and took it to an absolutely different level. The level of realism behind this character while still staying true to the subject matter was truly an amazing feat. Method acting at it's highest level.
I know I know, I sound like James Lipton... but this movie really "did it" for me, despite my exceedingly high expectations for it.
Everyone involved deserves the highest praise for their efforts. - FishHammer, on 12/05/2008, -3/+13what the ***** just happened
- ligyron, on 12/05/2008, -3/+11Because the opinions of millions doesn't matter. All that matters is the collective decision of the Academy...
- Whitehat51, on 12/05/2008, -0/+8His name is Heath. Not Hedge.
- TMTurtle, on 12/05/2008, -0/+8The artist didn't make the type. The image is a vandalism of an existing Oscar poster. The original artist put all that type there years and years ago.
- mcroyalty, on 12/05/2008, -1/+9dead rappers get better promotion
- harrisbradley, on 12/05/2008, -5/+13I'm gonna make this pencil disappear
- Demener, on 12/05/2008, -1/+8*waves hand*
It's gone! - shinelikeitdoes, on 12/05/2008, -5/+12seriously. buried for deceptive use of "awesome"
- jmuncy, on 12/05/2008, -2/+9Sorry, I just don't see the cleverness of it.
- mockidol, on 12/06/2008, -0/+6OP didn't say last complete role. He said last role. DigDugBikePump stands correct.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -1/+7Britney Spears is a washed-up hick. Ledger is an above-average actor who died long, long before his time. There is a difference, there, guy.
- MavRevMatt, on 12/05/2008, -2/+8You fail.
- inactive, on 12/06/2008, -0/+6I laughed out loud too. I mean, in real life. That doesn't happen often.
- mikeoncampus, on 12/05/2008, -0/+6i second jmucy...
- mattyboy555, on 12/05/2008, -2/+8That saying is really getting over used lately.
- MikeMitchell, on 12/05/2008, -3/+8Agreed...pretty ***** if you ask me.
- Cideu, on 12/05/2008, -0/+5What you're basically saying is that this is the best performance to grace the earth since 1929.
