Ready for an emo bond? Well ya don't need to worry, he's not emo, in fact this movie isn't as dark as the last one.- keithburgun, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2exactly. RTFA
- bitcloud, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1readership gathering headline...
might as well have been: "Daniel Craig in a horrific car crash?"
"no"
- NgrHader, on 04/10/2008, -2/+18Just like Christian Bale played the best Batman, Daniel Craig plays the most realistic Bond to date, and expect this to be just as good as Royale.
- minorthreat, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10I'm not ready for an emo bond, but I did read the article..
In my opinion being a loner is far from being an emo.- bitcloud, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2see... ***** emos ruin everything
- kyyled, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Real steppenwolves have no use for the trappings of those who identify as emo.
- Monarch818, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Would be great to see James Bond played by Emo Phillips! Would be like watching a "Dumb and Dumber" version of 007!
- j0ker666, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1You should really stop trying to use the same joke, especially when its a bad one...
- Konstantino, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Crap, I read this as "are people ready for an emo band?" I clicked thinking CNN didn't realize they already existed.
- protogenxl, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2I would rather have an Emu Bond
- yahoofrom, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1I was ready for a balls-beaten Bond.

- Jasper710, on 04/10/2008, -19/+140Emo or giving life to a lifeless character?
- FMDC, on 04/10/2008, -13/+3What do you mean, lifeless? James Bond's life is at least 50 times better than yours.
- dualityim, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3I agree, James Bond in the past has been just fantasy. And fantasy may be nice, but at times it can be very one-dimensional. This story brings depth and humanity to an otherwise fantastical character, which is a nice change.
- sv650touring, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2"James Bond in the past has been just fantasy" and Brosnan Bond was the worst ever by far. I don't think I even finished the one with the invisible car, but I am ashamed to admit I finished the Denise Richardson physicist one.
- Pake, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2I watched Goldeneye and half of the one after that. Goldeneye was alright, but I just found myself disliking Brosnan as Bond as well. Craig on the other hand was AWESOME in Casino Royale and I just watched it on Sunday and am about to watch it again.

- diceau, on 04/11/2008, -1/+1Obnoxious and insulting the park ... a bunch of normal guys who aren't emo at all, despite writing meaningful lyrics based on how much life can suck growing up. If Linkin ever wear eye liner, start piercing their bodies and generally looking depressed on and off stage, I'll call them emo with you. Until then, be quiet.

- RetlawST, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3I dunno, but that ***** seemed like some producer thought it would be a good idea. Usually directors and writers know better.

FTA
" Forster negotiated with producers to ensure he had as much creative control as possible on the $200 million-plus production. Nevertheless, he's still squeezed into the "framework of Bond."
"But I like it because you feel like it can make you very creative," he said. "And a lot of interesting things come out of that. Because, if you look at filmmakers that worked under politically repressive regimes, (they) made sometimes really interesting movies."

- Spartandog, on 04/10/2008, -3/+61What a misleading title to this article - there is actually a lot more action in this film than the last one, and even Craig admits it in other interviews. Every bloody Bond film gets bad press before it hits the screen. Remember how everyone was hating Casino Royale before the trailer even hit the theaters? Strange trend the internet has begun - dislike it before you see it.

- Lubinski, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1If you are digging me down because you think I think castaway is a bad movie you are wrong. I put castaway in there for the "lonely" factor. And the - good actors is tom hanks, he is excellent. Instead of "this guy" in bond.

- Rich711, on 04/10/2008, -10/+1Is this the same director as the last film? The one that got arrested for dressing in drag and working as a prostitute... big surprise he doesnt have Bond kiss the Bond girl and turns him into a moody dooche.

- bigfinger, on 04/10/2008, -14/+4No body liked Emo Spider-Man! No one will like Emo Bond. Bond is a killer, and bangs the hottest women on Earth. WTF no one even like Emo in the first place. "I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut it's self"

- RudeTurnip, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3No one was supposed to like emo Spider-Man. The whole point of emo Spider-Man was that he was a dick that the other characters in the movie didn't like.

- Ligeia, on 04/10/2008, -5/+7I like emo music.

- sephiroth965, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Emo is associated with emo people more often than the music itself because it's not about the music. Half the people who listen to it only pretend to like it so other emos think they're cool. Emo is ***** scene music and it's almost as ***** as the scenesters who listen to it.
- bigfinger, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Emo is the retarded step child to Goth.
- shredswithpiks, on 04/10/2008, -6/+2it's me. I'm the one who like emo spider-man.
- kermithefrogand, on 04/10/2008, -9/+3everything is emo
- ronaldmonster, on 04/10/2008, -9/+1Ok, so Bond wants to show you that he's actually human and has emotions like a normal person what's wrong with that?
Just like Jasper710 said "Emo or giving life to a lifeless character?"- Meltz014, on 04/10/2008, -0/+0That's what all his lady friends are for. He doesn't have to be emo to show that.
- goosejr89, on 04/10/2008, -7/+1Maybe, I'm definitely ready for a Bond that has any sort of substance though. Its been frustrating watching such a potential driven series go down hill. Hopefully, this movie will bring back the old bond and quench my worries.
- designerutah, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1The old Bond was fun, but shallow. New Bond (i.e, since Casino Royale) is tough, gritty, AND three dimensional.
- truthhammer, on 04/10/2008, -3/+26Absolutely not. Bond blows stuff up and lays pipe in hot chicks. Change that and watch this series fade away.
- dezmo, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3or possibly change demographics?
- TheNik, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Or maybe become films that people can take seriously? The old Bond movies were entertaining and good for camp appeal, the Casino Royale and onwards are movies with actual merit.
- smokeydbear, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1"Casino Royale and onwards are movies with actual merit."
So ... Casino Royale then.

- Kohaxx, on 04/10/2008, -2/+6James Bond in How Could This Happen To Meeee?
He made his mistakes, and he's got nowhere left to run. - 41k1d0k4, on 04/10/2008, -0/+15oi, give me stiff drinks & cigarettes. I like the old spy fantasy. Bond is like a comic book superhero, without the tights and weird powers. He just needs a Walther PPK, an Aston Martin, and a tux.
- iamgreg007, on 04/10/2008, -4/+2There already was an EMO Bond...his name was Timothy Dalton. George Lazenby was pretty EMO too. Something tells me Daniel Craig is going to kick ass in this movie and we will soon all forget this article.
Timothy Dalton: http://www.universalexports.net/00Dalton.shtml

Quantum of Solace: http://www.universalexports.net/movies/quantumofso ...- Hefelumpman, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2Timothy Dalton was the best Bond.
- iamgreg007, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Thats a very debatable fact. Timothy Dalton was an outstanding Bond, but he was absolutly more EMO than Daniel Craig or Sean Connery. I was not debating the merits of his very Fleming-esque portrayal of James Bond, all I was saying was that he wasn't the most macho Bond.
I invite you to discuss this further at the MI6 Debriefing Room: http://forum.universalexports.net- Pixelante, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Bond is not emo. Emo kids, when they're down, threaten to hurt themselves. Bond, up or down, doesn't threaten anyone and goes out to hurt others. End of teaser. Main title sequence.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I liked Dalton too. He had a believable character.
But I think, there are people who like Bond for the fantasy, and there are people who like the action. The bond character for years has been larger than life, and I thought he was a bit of a putz. So, when Timothy Dalton came around, that's the direction I was waiting for. He was pretty much panned by the "fantasy" Bond fans.
Craig has kind of bridged the gap by being larger than life in the action. So, he replaces Dalton for me as "best ever." In the opening sequence of Casino Royal, the guy won me over, because without any flair, or gymnastics, he barreled his way through an obstacle course to get to his target. The "quick wit" was also a nice touch. It was larger than life but still believable.- johnnysaucepn, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1I loved that opening action sequence - a great illustration of how Bond plays to his strengths, not following others.

- Tizzikins, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1George Lazenby?! So not emo.... what I remember about On Her Majesty's Secret Service is he was too... happy. Ugh. Terrible Terrible Bond.
- Hefelumpman, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2Timothy Dalton was the best Bond.
- creoderiot, on 04/10/2008, -2/+14Quantum of Solace is a goddamn stupid title. Also - it's awkward and phonetically unpleasant.
- iamgreg007, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2It actually makes a lot of sense if you take a look at what it actually means. From Universal Exports:
"Since the title of the 22nd Bond Film was disclosed on January 24, Bond fans across the world have struggled to understand what it means and how it will play into the film. According to producer Michael G. Wilson, a quantum of solace is essentially a measure of comfort. “I think it’s very appropriate for this film because based on what happened to the character of James Bond in the last film, Casino Royale, he needs a quantum of solace, considering his mental state,” said Wilson.
When we last saw 007, he had shut himself off emotionally following the betrayal of his first true love, Vesper Lynd. His last words about here were “the bitch is dead,” which is not something someone who has come to terms with Vesper’s death would say. All of the interviews and articles on Quantum of Solace reveal the same point: that the film will be far darker than Casino Royale and will involve much soul searching on Bond’s part "

- mparker7410, on 04/10/2008, -0/+33What the hell is CNN doing describing anything as "Emo"?
- JasonCox, on 04/10/2008, -10/+4We want Brosnan. End of story.
- mikes1, on 04/10/2008, -5/+2Emo Philips ( http://www.emophilips.com/home ) as the next Bond? Fabulous!
- BenjaminWill, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6Wow, Frodo and Sam's "lonely" journey to Mt. Doom must have passed them by. As I recall, Frodo had painted black fingernails and long dark hair draped over his eyes, and Sam was moshing along to gothic rock on his iPod.
- thuffner, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1My opinions on the subject:
On the most recent news:

On Quantum Of Solace when title was revealed:
http://bondmovies.com/news/233.shtml - QsheiK, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1Must be a slow day in the news world.
- crushtheenemy, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1cause emo hasnt been around since the 80s...
- rinote, on 04/10/2008, -4/+0Edgar Allen Poe was the original emo kid.
- dezmo, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2not even close
- ZiggyPlayedG, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Dumbest comment I've read here
- rinote, on 04/10/2008, -4/+0Edgar Allen Poe was the original emo kid.
- JDoorjam, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7FTA: ".... [Daniel Craig] said, 'Bond should be able to do ten press-ups, then smoke 60 cigarettes, and then drink a bottle of something and pop a pill, I think.' "
I'd think the challenge would be drinking, smoking and doing drugs _before_ working out.... - greenriver572, on 04/10/2008, -3/+5we already got an emo spiderman, don't ***** up another one of my childhood heroes.
- rinote, on 04/10/2008, -3/+2James Bond is sexy. But why is he sexy? He's mysterious and now they've given him a chip on his shoulder with an unhappy past. They are obviously appealing to women some more. Plus, he looks damn sexyfine in a tuxedo.
- designerutah, on 04/10/2008, -0/+0He always had an unhappy past. Read the original Ian Fleming books.
- asurroca, on 04/10/2008, -2/+7They already gave us an emo Spider-Man, and look how well that went over...
- designerutah, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Allowing your hero to have and express emotions gives the character depth. What they did in Spiderman was to allow their hero to whine and behave like an emotionally unstable 5 year old. Very different thing.
- davewashere, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10"Give back the nuclear weapon, or I'm going to cut myself."
- mmockett, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Did anyone else read "CUT!" as something slightly more aggressive?
- BadseedJR, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4So, if you read the article, it's clear that CNN's usage of the word "emo" has nothing to do with what most comments are assuming "emo" means. It's just that he is in his early career and hasn't hardened up (emotionally)... just like the last movie.
- shadowspawn, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1The original Bond was an emo, sorta. Well, no he wasn't. WAS SEAN CONNERY AN EMO? ***** NO. We want a cocky and in-control womanizer and user. GIVE US OUR BOND BACK. (and no more stupid one-liners. "I thought Christmas only comes once a year." RUINED it all. Was Moonraker quality.)
