- apothekari, on 10/30/2009, -0/+44Odin {alternate spellings abound when referring to gods in mythology but if we're talking Marvel, and we are, it's Odin.}
- palehorse864, on 10/30/2009, -2/+32I thought this was about Anthony Hopkins and Udon, the thick japanese wheat noodle.
I was picturing him in a Japanese commercial slurping the noodles, slurping them as it is customary to do in Japan. - Thextacle, on 10/30/2009, -0/+23Odin, Oden, Wotan, Woden, Wodinaz or Wodanaz. Never heard of 'odon'
- BrandonJM, on 10/30/2009, -0/+16Nice. You know, as long as Odin doesn't start eating people's faces and offering brains to children.
- pcgecko85, on 10/30/2009, -0/+16This movie REQUIRES Amon Amarth for the opening intro.
- ianzu, on 10/30/2009, -0/+13Inconceivable.
- yeeaauuh, on 10/30/2009, -0/+11At least he didn't misspell it O-Dog.... Although a Menace to Society remake with Anthony Hopkins as O-Dog would be awesome.
- Gojirra, on 10/30/2009, -1/+11Odon?
- Volath, on 10/30/2009, -0/+9This movie must come out on a Thursday.
- elliotys, on 10/30/2009, -0/+9wtf are you talking about?
Seriously,
WHAT THE ***** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! - MaoSca, on 10/30/2009, -0/+8Thor Arise!
- JinxCrow, on 10/30/2009, -1/+9I can only hope if Hopkins is in it, the movie will...well....won't come out like Daredevil...
- thenoxx, on 10/30/2009, -0/+7Kenneth Branagh is directing a comic book adaptation?
My head just exploded. - Kronos6948, on 10/30/2009, -0/+7They'll be part of the Super-Best Friends!
- rmxz, on 10/30/2009, -0/+7Too bad they're making the comic book version. IMHO some of the original stories would make a much better movie.
- verivalta, on 10/30/2009, -0/+6YESSSSSS!!!!! Sorry, one thumbs up was not enough.
- Slackdragon, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7Odin, Oden, Wotan, Woden, Wodinaz or Wodanaz...Wozniak... head of the Asgard, Asgaard, Applard, Apple pantheon.
And his evil trickster son, Loki, Loke, Joki, Jok, Joks Jobs, bent on destroying midgard. - digitalArtform, on 10/30/2009, -1/+7I was hoping for Wallace Shawn.
Or Danny DeVito. - byobyob, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5I believe the meme you're looking for is "cool story bro"
- digitalArtform, on 10/30/2009, -8/+13Can you imagine how effing NUTS the audience would be if they gave MC Hammer a serious dramatic cameo in the film.
It's the end of act II. Everything goes wrong. Thor is at his lowest point in the film. MC sits down and sets him straight; puts him back on his game. Then he locks eyes with Thor and says, dead serious, 'It's hammer time.'
THE CROWD GOES WILD!!!!!!!!! Big scene of equipping for the final fight. You romance the gear. Leather straps. Big round frisbees on the chest. Finally, he puts on the billowy HAMMER PANTS. He is ready.
And you take that momentum through Act III to the finish! - T8erT0T, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5Doesn't Disney own them now?
- rayb0t, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5i could never get the hang of thursdays
- SilentSpyder, on 10/30/2009, -2/+7We still have to wait until our current god becomes myth. Hopefully it'll be sooner than later.
- TheJuggernaut, on 10/30/2009, -0/+5Buried for not being Christopher Walken.

- trdrstv, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4I love how the title in the parent article says "Anthony Hopkins to play... Odin" and the very first sentence says "in negotiations to play Odin"...
- askantik, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4The live DVD that came with their new album was pretty awesome. ***** vikings fighting on stage during songs... Unfortunately I have never seen them live in person :[
- Rndm_Tngnt, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4They usually wait to release the trailer after they have started shooting the movie.
- TheNik, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4Norse. Not just Norwegian. Not only did you get that wrong but your point is also irrelevant. Good job!
- askantik, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4I came here to say that, you bastard! Hell, the movie could just BE them and it'd be awesome. Ever seen what they do live???
- saegiru, on 10/30/2009, -0/+4Well, for one it is a crappy little town in Indiana where I used to get all my Boy Scout uniform and supplies from...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odon,_Indiana - Mujokan, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Emma Thompson for Jane Foster! This could be another "Fortunes of War". With a big hammer, blond sideburns and roman sandals.
- getoffmybridge, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Hello, Clarice. It's good to see you again.
- Pentatonic, on 10/31/2009, -0/+3*woosh* that went over your head big time. agentsrecord was just quoting a famous line that hannibal lecter once said. except he replaced census taker with greek demigod. see, he's trying to say, norse mythos > greek mythos with a sprinkle of dark hannibal lecter humor placed in. >_>
- DevSingh1359, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3I'm pretty sure she's being played by Natalie Portman
- diggduggDOOM, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4It's interesting that the Marvel universe includes the gods of old religion, but the gods of current religions are almost nonexistent.
Of course, they avoid controversy by leaving out current widely practiced religious figures (not to mention the whole Islam cartoon controversy), but what must the common people of the Marvel universe think about these old gods routinely appearing and saving everyone. Kinda makes the current religions' gods look like uncaring wimps.
When will Jesus and Buddha join the Avengers? - detroitplaya, on 10/30/2009, -1/+4Yall want some cheeseburgers?
- diggduggDOOM, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Hellz yeah!
- brandonb90, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Maybe they can score the film!!!!!!!!! I know Mastodon is scoring Jonah Hex....
- diggduggDOOM, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Thanks for pointing that out. I found this on wikipedia:
"According to writer Greg Rucka, in an interview about his Final Crisis: Revelations miniseries: “...the sort of unspoken rule in the DCU is that the Judeo-Christian God sits above all others. And then below that you can have your New Gods and your Greek gods and whoever else you want.”"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presence_(DC_Comics) - diggduggDOOM, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Who are occasionally thwarted by the likes of Thor and other old religion gods.
Other comics deal with the current religions (Preacher, Constantine, etc.), but they're usually in a sort of self-contained world where (for the most part) only that one religion is relevant.
I would think it might be difficult to maintain faith in the current religions when the old gods are the ones flying around and saving the planet every other month. - seanayb, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3Want to digg twice
- pcgecko85, on 10/30/2009, -0/+3I saw them at a festival so I didn't get the full experience. Their outfits are awesome.
