- Bigcat1021, on 10/12/2007, -4/+50Read the original comics, and then tell me this clip is cheesier.
- gahal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38I read somewhere that (that) clip takes place in the danger room, hence wolverines 'giving slightly less than a *****' attitude.
- DougPenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32I liked Storm better when she didn't talk.
- helix400, on 10/12/2007, -37/+63Wow, how many corny moments could they cram into that clip?
* Wolverine lighting his cigar on flames in the middle of a battle.
* Telling Storm not to get her panties in a wad.
* Storm saves his life, but he just complains about his cigar getting lost.
* The impossibility of being thrown at rest to such a high rate of speed (ya ya, they're mutants. It's still ridiculous).
* The slicing sounds in air...
* The head lands right in front of them...and guess who walks out from behind the head...yep...Wolverine.
Or in other words, virtually every moment something happened, it was cheesy. X-Men 3 is going to suck. - BlindIrishman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Your wrong, Storm could have said "The bigger they are, the harder they fall", followed by instantaneous laughter between the group as the scene fades out...
- marix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21you didn't put amazing in your title so you didn't make it to the front page.
- helix400, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20gahal, you were correct, it does take place in the Danger Room.
"We changed it a little bit because we wanted to open it up, otherwise you don't see as much of the room as you would have seen. The first set, it was really just sort of a space. Not much room. But now [the actors] are doing a bunch of stuff and they're actually all in the space, he explains, adding that a giant robot will be the danger in this particular Danger Room. "We're going to see a bit of him. Not a whole lot. But we will see him in the Danger Room sequence, and the X-Men will be fighting against him."

And another site has this as well: "Storm flying and knocking Wolverine out of the way of debris falling down (in a Danger Room training sequence)." http://www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=12202
Perhaps X-Men 3 might not suck after all. - TheBigBoss, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I dont know if its just me, but Hugh Jackman sounds different.
- edmondsonj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If you did not see it here is the clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7aHf5rDwas&feature=Views&page=1&t=t&f=b
It looks alot different for the other movies but still looks good - peanutz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+24Without Bryan Singer directing them X-men movies are not the same thing it seems. Well, waiting for Superman.
- aplardi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17If you read the description it says it is in the Danger Room. Maybe that is why he isn't so concerned. Either way, it doesnt feel like a movie clip, feels like something that was filmed for an amusment park or whatever ya know?
Weird, something gives me the feeling that isnt going to be in the movie. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17To be honest, I'm very excited for the movie. Hopefully it will be similar to the old cartoons (ahh, the good old days) and feature a wide variety of mutants, both good and evil.
- digismack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15The previews they show on late-night TV shows are always cheesy and focus specifically on the actor on the show. I wouldn't judge the entire movie based on this 15 second clip.
- peerk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I saw this on Leno last night.
At first the dialog bothered me.
But then I saw the sentinel head hit the ground and I had fond flash backs to the X-Men cartoon series I watched as a kid.
I'm definitely going to see this movie. - OneZeroZeroOne, on 10/12/2007, -12/+27That clip sucked. I really liked the 1st two movies, but that was some corny *****. "Hey tin man how's your throwing arm?" That clip couldn't have been more anticlimatic and poorly paced.
- jcdickerson, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11I'll copy-and-paste the same comments I made on AICN - I don't care if this is a Danger Room sequence or not the staging and editing and effects of this looked just BAD. Batman and Robin bad. THIS is the clip they let Hugh Jackman use on a major promotional vehicle such as the Tonight Show? Either the promo department at Fox is functionally retarded OR the film is still a work in process (scary notion at this date) OR this is his "best scene" they have to show that showcases him OR all of the above. Geez. And I though the fact that we have not seen a full Superman trailer yet was reason to worry about that film. Jeez.
- jpwhitmore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think it seems so cheesy because that battle wasn't real. I think the clip shows them in the danger room because Wolverine is so calm and he says "they aren't ready for this". I hope I am right because if they are really fighting then it sucks
- commongiga, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10what do you expect from the director of rush hour, and rush hour 2?
brett ratner will ruin this series. - Maasneotek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Batman and Robin bad" heheh Nothing could be that bad. That movie was a textbook case of what NOT to do.... everything in that movie was TERRIBLE. (Yeah i saw it).
I remember seeing that in the theater and KNOWING it was gonna be terrible the 7th minute in when robin says, "ITS THE HOCKEY TEAM FROM HELL!!!"
The more we talk about it, the more I'm hoping that I dont get the same sinking feeling in the beginning of xmen 3
-maasneotek - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Right, but the entertainment industry has evolved since 1960 or whatever.
We should have moved past corny dialogue by now.
I'm still excited for the movie though. - Minos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The bastards cut the clip right when he was going to lay a one liner on us...
- joeydoo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11I wouldn't mind the utter cheese and cheap ("lets fill the scene with smoke, then we won't have to bother with the CGI") dispensing of a massive robot AS MUCH if the dialogue, timing and delivery wasn't complete *****. And jackman was pretty good at it in the last two. Somethings changed this time...... wonder what.....hmmmmm.
I kind of had a really bad feeling about this film when I saw beast "flying/jumping" through the air in the trailer. Wire work is cheap and looks awful. The only person who can pull it off is Jackie Chan (And I am not talking about Rush Hour - Rattty Ratner you money whore). They should have gone all Ong Bak and Tony Jaa-ised this film. Put them actors to work at some proper fight training and get their moneys worth out of them. - jackbauer007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5i heard a pity applause at the very end. Thats all it deserves. The first trailor looked good but they just cut out the best looking shots in a trailor. This was sequential crap. Hopefully they didn't non chalantly throw away 150 million dollars the same non chalant way the acting was as wolverine was thrown in the air. And don't get your panties in a bunch and you just let my cigar go out how can neone be so cheesy ughhh.
- armature, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It's a clip from inside the danger room. Simulated danger. If i had to guess, wolverine is thinking that the training is retarded and a waste of time, but is being forced to take part in it because of prof-x or the other xmen. Therefore he's going through the motions and isn't really giving it anything hence the cheesiness. As far as the minor cheesy effects and the need to suspend imagination... it's xmen. ;)
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6
Read the original comics, and then tell me this clip is cheesier.
Yep. A move like Colossus throwing Wolverine is literally out of the X-Men comic books. So is Wolverines' corny dialog and his cynical attitude. Those of you who think Wolverine doesn't act that way probably have never read the comic books?
The "serious" Tim Burton Batman treatment used for the first two movies, and just about every other superhero movie since Batman, would have been nice, but that is a reinterpretation of the X-Men for the movies and not what the comics were really like.
As long as they didn't put man-nipples on their suits, and pink neon everywhere, the movie will probably turn out ok--if not great. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5It IS in the danger room. That's why he says "they're not ready" and she's talking about "working as a team" as well as the fact that he doesn't care about what's happening.
Also, look at the other X-men, there's Storm and Wolverine and then weak ones... obviously training... - Strangers, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I noticed it too. He's very non chalant for a man being tossed through the air at a giant robot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Fastball special" as it was called in the animated series. And because Colossus was not a member of the team in the show, it was Beast who provided the boost. If I recall correctly, the first appearance was in "Night of the Sentinels, Part I". :)
- ravedave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Here's hoping that this is a prelim cut. It looks like the CGI isnt done yet, I really hope they show more than that of the sentinals.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5lol, marix is right. you shouldve at least put [video!]
- extant59, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wow.. ok.. did everyone miss the part where its in the danger room? i think maybe 5 people here read that. if its in the danger room it makes sense. its not THAT bad.
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Wow, what the ***** was up with that dialogue??? And Hugh Jackman does sound differnet.
- superstewy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Im excited for this movie but that clip was absolute CHEESE. You'd think a fight with a Sentinal would be someone suspensful and exciting but that was lame. I know it's only a short clip so I'm not judging the the whole movie, but if it's anything like that it's gonna suck.
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The second one was awesome. 10x better than the first. You are nuts
- TigerClaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This was an awesome clip, I can only hope that we get a full body shot of a Sentinel in the actual movie. :)
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6http://www.duggmirror.com/movies/Amazing_New_X-Men_3_Clip_Gives_Glimpse_at_Sentinel_/
- rhthekida, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Lets look at the major things in this video
1. Fastball Special +1
2. Storm as a bigger part -1
3. Horrible Music -1
4. Bad cg on Colossus -1
5. Bad cg on throw -1
so thats +1/-4...great - sark666, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yes the dialog is cheesier in the comics. Colossus would throw wolverine on many occasions as per wolverine's request, and wolverine would call it a speed ball special. So be thankful they didn't stay 'true' to the comics in this regard.
Way back before X1 came out and I saw a pic of Hugh Jackman, I thought wtf, there's no ***** way this guy is wolverine, but he actually aced it. Probably one of the best castings in comic to big screen ever. But I agree there is something off with his voice this time, not enough grit.
Btw, I was an extra for X1 and it was a really fun experience. Bryan Singer came out and talked to a crowd of us for a couple of hours and you could see his passion for this. Hopefully this 3rd installment won't suffer in his absense.
And I wouldn't mind an X4 even, but 3 seems to be the magic number. If a studio goes beyond that it's usually regarded as cheese. - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I agree, I saw it on Leno and I was like "that was way too anticlimactic for what I just saw"
I don't know what it was, there was just nothing there. - Maasneotek, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Yep, I think our worst fears are coming true.... This isnt going to be a good movie. A real shame considering how fantastic the first 2 were. I hope im wrong.
The issue i had a problem with was all the character suspended with wires. You can see it from the first trailer they relased. I was hoping it would improve, but from the way they fabricated wolverine in the 'air' this overused effect is realized.
I just hate that awkward 'guy in the air but moving at an impossible angle' effect. It looks really ameteurish.
-maasneotek - rcomegys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree with all the comments about the original books -- they were much cheesier.
And stop whining about how the movie will suck based on the 3 minutes you've seen of it. Yes, we were all worried when Bryan Singer wasn't going to direct it, but have some faith. - starbirix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6I heard it too. It's suddenly rather annoying.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Sadly enough, the Xmen-3 game is winding up to look more entertaining than the movie.
- thbt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4That Sentinel head looks pretty cheap. I have to agree, from that clip, the movie has the potential to be pretty cheesy.
As for the posts here about how the comics were cheesy -- so what? The brilliant thing about the first two movies was that even people who didn't read the comics loved the movies. You think they're going to make a movie that targets just comic book fans? That would be suicide... they wouldn't have a hope in hell of making any money. - berzerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree. I thought the future scenes in T2 which was made in 1991 looked way better than that.
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4why does the sentinel head look plastic to me? :/
- reaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow, terrible. I thought it was a parody.
- Mac2492, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I only find corny dialog funny when it's either...
A) Throughout the whole movie INTENTIONALLY.
B) Used for strategic humorous reasons.
Other than that, corny is bad.
P.S. Nice clip. Most of us would watch the movie no matter how good/bad this clip was anyway. - CubiX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The're X-men. It's what they're all about.
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4also, why are the eyes rectangle shaped and red, but the two lights in the beginning are white and round?
