- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -7/+51Porn has always been a driver of technology. What do you think the real inspiration for the Wii controller was? Come on...the porn applications are so obvious...it's going to be amazing.
- systimax, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Plot? who cares about a plot. I just want to see the slut take it in the ass and then continue with my day
- asdfer, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Porn Industry utilize the "Multi-Angle" feature on DVD before any Hollywood studios. As matter of fact Hollywood studios still haven't taken advantage of this multi-angle feature.
- philomatic, on 02/08/2009, -1/+14How do you think the internet became so popular... News and research? I think not!
- Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13In fairness Hollywood is producing material for a cinematic environment, not (primarily) home viewing. It's easy to make use of multi-angle in your work if it's never going to be shown at the cinema.
- McG2k1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Apparently the pr0n industry has also selected blu-ray. Historically this has always been the indicator for which format will win. Its true for VHS over Beta and DVD over DIVX. Cool to see they're doing this for their content. Hopefully the television and film industries will follow suit in some way.
- nuklear, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Hmmm.... maybe its because the films are made by adults for adults who want to see adult actors living out an adult fantasy that includes adult situations, adult content, adult language, etc etc. ask a stupid question...
- breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13You remember when porn actually had a plot? Wow, can you tell me what the war of 1812 was like?
- andreas1999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Multi-angle? Somehow I think the director (and pretty much everyone involved in the film-making) would see that as an insult to a piece of art (might depend on what film we're talking about). If I paint a picture, that's how I want people to see it. Great for porn, useless for "real" movies..
- ofimiano, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Did you really just use boink as a euphemism for sex? Nice
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Wii sex device... =)
http://wii.nintendo.com/controller.html
All are women. Environment is sterile white. Think about it. - nuklear, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Damn I gotta start promoting this on my site, its sure to become very popular.
The porn industry is so far ahead of Hollywood because it is much more lucrative. Hollywood makes ~$10 billion/yr. Porn makes at least $50 billion if not 100 billion or more. - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Can't wait for one of my favorite Torrent sites to capture and copy whatever is on the 'tech curve'
(I have much faith in empornium and puretna) - Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Look where the controller is in the pictures at the bottom right of nintendo controller web page. One guy has a hand ...there. The other picture the gf has a hand... there, while the guy is leaning forward with an open mouth in wonderment.
- MattH, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8just imagine interactive adult movies with the new Nintendo controller
"can you stroke your Wee Wii for me "
And for the ladies it has a vibrate feature - revmitcz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I remember sometime... ohhh, about a year ago now, when I sat with CinemaNow's programmers and management in a little boardroom and we all talked about "how it was done" in our respective businesses. There was a crapload of hurdles to jump - not the least of which was their painful insistence that I NOT use CSS/XHTML to layout the site. I also tried to circumvent their enormous javascripts to do things on a much easier scale.
After about 2 months of going back and forth on design changes, we finally agreed on a "look" and went with it. Then, the project was dropped, I left Vivid back in November 2005 and... I guess they finally got back on track with the thing.
I said at the time to Vivid's upper tier they'd be better off developing their own system running on .... well, I don't wanna give everything away.... but suffice it to say that a technology which only works on ONE OS, in ONE browser with ONE media player seems a little elitist and short-sighted - esp. when they've no plans/ability to port it to other OS/browser types.
Mkay. There's my rant. A little behind-the-scenes from me to you :) - tilleyrw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Who wants to make a guess about how hackers will require to break this "new" encryption scheme which "will not allow the copying of a computer-burned DVD". Oops! Too late I think, Norway is on Line Two.
- molecool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Plot? who cares about a plot. I just want to see the slut take it in the ass and then continue with my day"
Dude, that's almost Shakespearian! LOL :-)) - breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10Wii's controller does have a phallic shape, now that you mention it.
- tenchi71, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5same can be said about Hollywood... aren't the MPAA and RIAA suing people for file sharing? Those files are "free"
- Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4WaterDragon - I know a ton of really mature people who watch porn. You are thinking about it's uses the wrong way. It's just to live out a fantasy you may not be able to have (4 chicks at the same time is a bit hard to pull off, unless of course you are really rich.. or a porn star) or just to help you get through the dry spells. I know some couples who have it on during sex, but I've never really been into that... too easily distracted.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I was thinking more about the games that are possible than the physicality of the controller...but now that you mention it...
- outz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You've been able to direct download a porn dvd at dvdempire.com for over a year now. Look at their VOD section.
- icematrix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Although I am a big MPAA Hater, This is a foolish comparison. There is such huge competition for online porn, it would be stupid for the adult film industry to ignore it. Since you can get millions of free pictures and videos online already, what do they stand to lose?
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its true... Porn + Horny PPL motivate technology.... LOL!
"Hey sugar, I'm gonna give you a 1+Up with my new Wii controller.... **squishy sound + 1up Sound**" - kmartshopper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2>> Adult film industry is way ahead of Hollywood on tech curve, again.
Perhaps it's because they like it from behind? :-o - Jacobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I agree. Multi-Angles really make no sense for proper movies of tv shows. However if you bought a dvd of some sport (like the world series dvds" those should have multi-angle. Maybe that will become reality with the newer bigger media coming down the pipe
- AwesomeMonster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Porn has also been a plague on the technology industry, remember beta tape versus VCR? Beta had far better quality but there was more porn on VHS so that put an end to beta.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Leo Laporte: "I've heard of this new website that's serving 1080p porn; porn always advances the tech industry."
*TWiTs glare at Leo*
Leo Laporte: "What?" - whistlerpeak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1exactly!
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The porn industry can afford to be on the cutting edge, because:
A) They have a much higher profit margin on videos due to lower production costs. (Not my supposition, that's fact.)
B) They're not as concerned about DRM (although less at play here).
C) They need differentiators to stay in business. (It's a big pie (pardon the pun, but there are numerous companies trying to get a piece (ok, pun intended) of it.)
/Had friends in the distribution industry. - MattH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Twentieth Century FOX and Sony Pictures own CinemaNow who are providing the technology to protect DVDs and the distribution channel for Vivid Entertainment's videos , so the MPAA does have a vested interest in how download to burn adult movies succeed
- mindtrap, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The porn industry responds faster to new technology simply because it isn't as bloated as Holywood. Decisions can be made faster and mistakes can be controlled easier. Besides, people will knock down walls for porn, not necessarily true for Holywood movies.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5 Yeah, I remember when they actually had a plot, but now 99 percent of the pr0n that's being made starts into the screwing 5 seconds into the flik.
The women are all starting to look alike also, plus no imagination to the camerawork.
It's a sad day for the industry as a whole. - vernsan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2l watch porn to get my daily high.
- PumpkinEscobar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So this story goes hand in hand with the story about fear of HD downloads 'choking' the Internet, so to speak?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I keep telling my wife I need to watch this much porn to stay ahead of the curve.
- Cerberus047, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"the internet is for poorn the internet is for poorn .... grab your dicks and double click for porn porn porn"
Best song ever - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Get it here... www.bowchicabowwow.com
LOL!... - miker71, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rod Shuffler (Blue Hardest), Mike Peter Reed (HARP28) and Kevin Turrell (KTP) are ahead of the porn industry. Already available for over a year:
http://www.lulu.com/browse/search.php?&fSearch=crooked+features - Willy99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you can download DVD iso files at LikeTelevision.com - and they have offered this feature for 2 years on some awesome content, like an Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge, Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Andy Griffith Show. Last time i checked, Opie had all his clothes on ;~). Better still, the files are not slushed with all kinds of annoying DRM hooks that make life harder than it needs to be. Just search for DVD iso at their site for a current listing. http://tesla.liketelevision.com
- Galaxion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Norway is on Line Two"????
What is this, Eurovision? - matt0baba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1so does that mean porn has better special effects???????
- drdewm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The porn industry doesn't mind changing however it needs to make money where as the music and non-porn movie indrustry wants to keep the status quo. From their point of view the system works so why change it. Meanwhile the world is clammering and inevitably changing around them.
- endosquid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No, one company was asking prices that were too high for certification on Beta. Check your facts.
- HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7The VHS cam-corder killed the 'high end' of the porn industry.
We went from movies with some attempt at a plot :"Gee, my step-mom is hot, maybee I can seduce her and her friends!" TO, "How many chicks can I boink on film."
plus quality went way down. - bitdubious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0adult industry seems to be churning out tons of porn every minute of every day. i guess they have the technology to support that. but quality is very very low. i guess there is a market for it. just a shame that the good adult stuff is limited. if only producers would get some inspiration from hollywood and actually come up with plots.
- PumpkinEscobar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1So is The Valley going to become the center of the entertainment industry now?
- breakneckridge, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Hollywood easily could've used the multi angle feature in the extras on DVDs. Several cameras are already setup on most films, so Hollywood's only excuse for not using multi angles is complacency.
- klang, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3true..
