With news like this going on, I am not sure if the world can cope with any more misery. - inactive, on 06/26/2008, -4/+35Oprah needs to crawl in a hole along with Dr. Phil.
- Pillage, on 06/26/2008, -4/+29"John Cusack takes on John McCain in political ad" that ad was sad indeed. Can't they get Scarlett to promise to disrobe if Obama gets elected? That would really boost his numbers in the much coveted "men who want to see Scarlett Johansson naked" demographic.
- sockpuppets, on 06/26/2008, -6/+26He didn't just get cancer, he got Newman's Own Cancer™.
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -3/+22***** hollywood.
- seraph582, on 06/26/2008, -1/+14and their STUPID ***** formula movies! If I see another "he gets the girl in the end" movie that has no other point for existing, I'm gonna scream.
Oh, and ***** Michael Bay, the MPAA, the RIAA, Sony for buying out the next-gen disc market, and last but not least, ***** special interests/lobby groups - including Hollywood - and their influence in Washington DC! - tidefan94, on 06/26/2008, -3/+13It's not Hollywood's fault for bad movies. It's the consumers. When more people turn out to see Happy Feet than Casino Royal (in the US anyways) can you blame the execs for greenlighting crappy movies.
- grmclaren, on 06/26/2008, -2/+12Ask yourself why Oprah has so many scientologists as her friends and on her show.
Do you think it might be the tiniest bit dangerous to have someone with so much power leading so many mindless women towards these cultish quasi-religious gurus?
She is not a bastion of hope.
She is dangerous.
She is a false messiah.
It disgusts me that so many people are willing to follow so blindly a woman with such obvious flaws. - inactive, on 06/26/2008, -1/+10Paul Newman? ***** A. One of my top five favorite actors.
- Owned1Up, on 06/26/2008, -0/+8Well that's it, there is no use living. Goodbye cruel world...
- serif69, on 06/26/2008, -0/+6Careful with the Michael Bay language. He'll blow your house up and put it on film, with motorcycles jumping through the flames.
- ender7074, on 06/26/2008, -2/+8No need to do anything crazy like vote for Obama. She'll get naked as soon as her popularity starts to fall.
- ginestony, on 06/26/2008, -2/+8And what about George Carlin?
- hexydes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+5Sadly, I think this approach would have a much higher success rate than "Here is my stance on issue X."
- krd1979, on 06/26/2008, -2/+6Funny... but too soon dude
- lardoandkeg, on 06/26/2008, -2/+6agreed
- Daggity, on 06/26/2008, -0/+4I hope it's soon, don't want a wrinkly Scarlett.
- deaftly, on 06/26/2008, -1/+4Aww look at the cute puppie
- whoitis, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3I think Cusack is a great actor but I couldn't agree more. They all should keep their political opinions to themselves.
- stfucupcake, on 06/26/2008, -0/+3Plz keep your larp character voice off digg.
- SnuKs, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Yet you along with everyone that agrees with you are probably gonna still see Dark Knight.. =P
- kubedawg, on 06/26/2008, -4/+6Where the ***** is George Carlin mentioned? I mean, he was an actor too...
- inactive, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4Suck my Balls™
- dpcamp, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4if you actually go to the page it says "Daniel Craig has a hangnail"
- hexydes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Well, you got my vote (admittedly due in large part to the Sony/Blu-Ray jab, but the rest was good too).
- djadamjay, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2dugg for Basset Hound!
- revjustin2, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Gadzooks!
- noupsell, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2try actually watching it. GC gets his homage at the end
- sandiegodude, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Snakes on a Plane effect. Tons of advertising dollars and popular stars dumped into a horrid storyline. Still was a box office success. Just sad really.
- sockpuppets, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4***** PLACE SUCKS!
- hexydes, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2I look at it like this:
Would I seek out a garbage collector for political advice: No.
Would I see out a doctor for political advice: No.
Would I seek out a scientist for political advice: No.
So what makes actors and actresses so special that they think they have important political wisdom to impart upon everyone? At the end of the day, it's simply because they feel they are "worldly" and "see the bigger picture that everyone else can't see", and they have the luxury of a microphone in their face (I like to call this the "13-year-old racist playing Halo 3 on XBox Live" effect).
People should be allowed to make their own decisions, and part of that process is not having today's (well, in this case yesterday's...) big star telling you how to think. That just makes people ignore the issue and say to themselves, "Yeah, I must agree because I liked actor X in that movie I saw." It's all a part of the bigger process of Americans losing their education in how government works. It's no longer emphasized in school (from K-12 through college), polarized to the point of a sports match in the media, and people know so little about what our country was founded on at this point...that it's actually working the way "the system" wants it to. - zaii7, on 06/26/2008, -2/+4I don't mean to startle you
but there are more ***** and fatasses in this country than you can shake a stick at
her core audience is overweight overmedicated soccer moms that are silently begging to be lead
im no rocket scientist but her message isn't working - duke1981, on 06/26/2008, -1/+3Zang
- Rizzen, on 06/26/2008, -0/+2Shh, around now's about the time people say they don't like it because its not cool to like popular things.
- IllBeBack, on 06/26/2008, -2/+3George Michael definitely should retire. Did anyone see his "performance" on American Idol a couple months ago? It was really sad. His voice sounded completely broken, probably due to all the booze and drugs. He couldn't hit any high notes and was seriously flat on everything else. I kept looking for the cable harness that was holding him up like a puppet.
- revjustin2, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1With the right marketing budget and internet presence, you could get an army of hipsters to show up to a hippo fart-off on opening night. Sad indeed.
- noupsell, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2he's in there
- hexydes, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Oh good, I was hoping some more politicians would tell me how I should feel about world events. I have so much trouble making up my mind, and they always help to provide me with keen insights that only Hollywood-types like themselves can give.
- ghuytro, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1It's all ok - I spoke with Ja Rule and he made some sense of it all.
- hexydes, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2Speak for yourself.
- sockpuppets, on 06/26/2008, -1/+2That wasn't a harness, that was a penis.
- Remmiz, on 06/26/2008, -2/+3And Ironman.
- TheBigTicket, on 06/26/2008, -0/+1Uwe Boll, is that you?
- Slick50, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1This from someone who probably loves Kevin Rose and Alex on DiggNation. Just saying. To each their own, that's why podcast are such a wonderful thing.
