http://digg.com/movies/Futuristic_Movie_Timeline - edwartica, on 07/06/2009, -3/+77While morpheus said they were somewhere near the year 2199 (in the Matrix), there's speculation that this is actually false information - considering there had been multiple versions of the Matrix.
- drmangrum, on 07/07/2009, -0/+39Technically, Star Wars is in the past so it would be
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|1977 - dsoldier, on 07/07/2009, -1/+35Event Horizon is one of the most ***** up movies I've ever seen.
It also doesn't help that I saw it not long after it came out... when I was 12. ***** ***** me up. - mikerad86, on 07/07/2009, -1/+33I thought the Fifth Element was in 2223. The movie began in 1923, it said 300 years later, so I just did the simple math...
- snareguy17, on 07/07/2009, -0/+306 years until hoverboards.
Sweet. - haqattaq, on 07/07/2009, -1/+29Water World has to be soon. It's getting hot in herre.
- dsoldier, on 07/07/2009, -0/+25Did you miss the whole "A long time ago, in a Galaxy far, far away..." part?
- jesburger, on 07/07/2009, -2/+27Dugg for Dune.
- babyheadout, on 07/07/2009, -0/+23"No one really pays much attention to what year sci-fi movies take place"
Several hundred thousand geeks beg to differ. - poorman04, on 07/07/2009, -3/+24Why is Serenity not on this list? Which takes place around 2510
- plainOldFool, on 07/07/2009, -0/+20Aziz! Light!
- Cepster, on 07/07/2009, -1/+18That's because Terminator takes place in the 80's. And we will not speak of Terminator:Salvation
- cbrophy78, on 07/07/2009, -2/+19no time machine... seriously? That has to have the longest span. 1895 - 802,701 AD
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Time_Machine - Disastrophe, on 07/07/2009, -0/+17***** Rollerball makes the list and Terminator doesn't?
- RudeTurnip, on 07/07/2009, -0/+16Robocop is starting to look like a documentary at this point.
- tomweaver, on 07/07/2009, -0/+14Still gutted I don't have a hoverboard.
- thejackyl, on 07/07/2009, -2/+16nerd!
- ladysherwood, on 07/07/2009, -0/+13I'm anticipating the movie version of the "Moon People" Trilogy. The year is 2048. Also, it's Halloween.

- xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -0/+13As long as Will Smith is around, we'll be fine.
- BoneheadFarker, on 07/07/2009, -0/+13Bah...the Terminator time line has been ***** with so often that it would make whores jealous.
- manbeef, on 07/07/2009, -1/+12so... take off all yur clothes.
- philkav, on 07/07/2009, -3/+14On that note - Sebulba was actually a better pod racer than Anakin, it's just that Anakins machine had a radon-ulzer engine. Which is like racing a ferrari against a jordan... Just had to get that off my chest
- xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -0/+11Remember... they don't work on water.
(Unless you have power.) - UnFriendlyFire, on 07/07/2009, -0/+10Buried, was posted two weeks ago.
- darzeecompany, on 07/07/2009, -3/+12A...a..a...... are you German?
- xeno439, on 07/07/2009, -1/+10No 1984? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087803/
Dugg for Idiocracy. - plainOldFool, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7I saw Event Horizon more than a few years back on HBO. Kinda freaked me out and I didn't want to go to bed right away. So I stayed up for the next movie.... Boys in the Hood (must have been Lawrence Fishburne night at HBO). That movie left me in contemplation induced insomnia. ***** Lawrence Fishburne .....
- Takfam, on 07/07/2009, -2/+9My future-senior-citizen anus puckers at the thought that we only have 23 years until we're all using the three shells.
- cadam, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Can it have a Smart Ass Bending Robot too?
- slapded, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Where's wild wild west?
/s - xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -3/+9Where is I, Robot? That took place in 2035.
- MasonZombie, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6Agreed man. I consider it the only scary movie I've seen. Mainly because that is one of the few situations where I would be like '***** this ship' and try to kill myself as soon as possible.
- 7m7uf, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6NO NELLY!
- GreasyWalrus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6Fremen will ***** you up!
- Favreism, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6That's not the guy who made it though. The creator is Dan Meth, he does a ton of pop culture charts like this... that's just a guy who dugg it who didn't have many digg contacts. http://danmeth.com/tagged/popculturalcharts
- Stormwern, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6I want to see a timeline with all the ends of civilization from tv/movies, the pulse from Dark Angel was just a few weeks ago.
- xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Power laces!
- PolarBearFire, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Make it animated, you'll save on actors and special effects.
- DarthVolta, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5I love Dune so much.
Tell me about the waters of your homeworld, Usul. - AdmiralAcbar, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Is it sad that I logged in to post that?
- DonAlfred, on 07/07/2009, -1/+6And Idiocracy is the only one predicting the truth.
- Rivfader, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5I want to make a sci-fi comedy that takes place in the year 3000, its a bunch of people discussing how hard life was in the early 2000s and how ass backwards stupid mankind was in the 2000s.
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5i love that movie
- MacEnvy, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Hey, we've still got 6 years to invent them ...
- zip000, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5My biggest problem with I, Robot (the movie) - and this is a ridiculous thing to be nitpicky over, but I can't help it - was the highway system.
Can we have a robot in every home in 30 years? Maybe. Can we complete the vast scale of road construction that is displayed in the movie? I seriously doubt it. There's been road construction in my area that has been going on for years and years and it has just been simple things like adding lanes. - xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Better start working on growing your third hand.
- xXVenom77Xx, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Yeah no kidding. I was really disappointed as to how they showed life 800,000+ years in the future. I was hoping for ultra borg-like cities with Type 3 civilization technology and resources. But no.... we get Jeremy Irons with his brains coming outta his head controlling meanderthals.
- rif42, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4No Mad Max? When does this one actually take place?
