- crapuccino, on 11/18/2008, -21/+83Dugg for a total lack of William Shatner in this movie.

- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+29Star Trek...from latinoreview..?
- cnot3, on 11/18/2008, -0/+29How can you like Star Trek and hate Shatner? You can argue that Patrick Stewart gave a better performance as Picard, but you can't say Shatner wasn't good as Kirk, he made the ***** character.
- pixeldust, on 11/18/2008, -0/+19I got the same message basically from Safari
- DavidinBoston, on 11/19/2008, -0/+16BIG OLE MALWARE SITE. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM IT.
- spookyttws, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13I thought TOS was a joke until I sat down and watched through every episode. Yes, they can be campy and there are only about 30 good ones (out of 70 something) but it has real value. It's the hope and optimism that really encompasses Roddenberry's view of a (broken) Utopian future. I can't see how you can call yourself a Star Trek fan and not have at least watched a few of the episodes, if not one or two of the movies.
- bixby1, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13It's so weird to look at the new character incarnations.
- Zippo, on 11/18/2008, -0/+13I'm certainly looking forward to this movie... and I'm interested to see how Quinto is going to play Spock...
Spock's always been a favourite character of mine. Hopefully since Nemoy's going to be playing a cameo in the movie, Quinto will do a decently accurate job. - MrFurious2k, on 11/18/2008, -2/+14Shatner must leave so that Kirk may live. Sad, but true.
- dlberk, on 11/18/2008, -3/+15Dugg in hopes that each digg will be a prayer to make this film great.
- cnot3, on 11/19/2008, -1/+13It will be hard to make a better Star Trek movie than Wrath of Khan. I'm forced to keep my expectations low. At least it's got Simon Pegg, he's probably the only one who's ever even seen the source material.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+12Ay Caramba!
- Beatmiser, on 11/18/2008, -0/+11If you haven't seen Star Trek 2, you need to pack up and stop posting in this thread.
- sirmcdiznuts, on 11/18/2008, -0/+11It does have a Dominican girl as the lead actress.
- spookyttws, on 11/18/2008, -0/+10I have been extremely excited about this film since it was announced but the trailer blew me away. I had no idea of the scope and origin story that is clearly going to be a large chunk of the movie. Also, they really put together a great cast.
- daddymcguire, on 11/18/2008, -1/+11By your own admission you haven't even watched the original series OR any of the Star Trek movies before Generations so how can you pass judgment on any of that "old crap"?
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+10one word:
KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! - Thinkerofthings, on 11/18/2008, -2/+11I haven't been interested in Trek, in a long time... After the disaster movie Generations, and their pathetic writing off of Kirk. Even without Shatner, I think this will be good... I can't wait
- uncertainty, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8I thought Generations and First Contact were ***** awesome.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8Looks amazing, can't wait...
Space... The Final Frontier.... - Rodik, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8i guess they still haven't found that white castle...
- JulioHJ, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8yeah but they all come back from the dead via lazers
- clankster, on 11/19/2008, -0/+8I'm very interested to see the new look for the daleks
- rockstar1o9, on 11/18/2008, -0/+8maybe the new vulcan mindmeld will involve cutting people's heads open.
- Ursapater, on 11/19/2008, -2/+9Sorry just can't see this as any good. Too much being ignored here: 1. Enterprise, all Starfleet capital ships really, are built in spacedock they never land on the surface of a planet. Janeway mentions that Voyager is one of the biggest starships that can still touchdown.
2. Kirk grew up in Iowa, so how does the young Kirk wind up in a car driving it over a desert cliff? For that matter his having a juvenile record would probably have kept him out of Starfleet.
3. Kirk was a lieutenant on the Constitution with Gary Mitchell while Spock was on Enterprise with Chris Pike.
There's lottsa other stuff but basically Abrams is throwing out/altering to much well established backstory for me to be comfortable with it. I'll wait for the thing to come out on DVD and rent - gaqua, on 11/19/2008, -1/+8There's an important lesson:
You will never, ever make old Star Trek fans happy unless you miraculously reverse the aging process of Kirk, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, and Spock, and bring Bones and Scotty back from the dead. Then you must place them in hideous maroon dress uniforms, and have them explore what it means to be human for 90 minutes.
repeat ad nauseum.
A lot of TOS fans still view The Next Generation crew as heretics and talk about how inaccurate it was and how ridiculous it all is and how stupid it is to be friends with the Klingons and how everything is so much worse, and blah blah blah.
Next Gen guys like Next Gen and dorkgasm over the last few seasons of DS9.
Everyone hates Voyager.
And everyone is ashamed to admit that they started liking Enterprise towards the end there, regardless of its disrespect and complete ignorance of canon.
That being said: it's time to wash the slate clean and reboot Star Trek. Give us our characters and ignore some of the canon - who cares what year Vulcans split from Romulans or what type of engine the Enterprise A had compared to the Enterprise. It doesn't ***** matter in the grand scheme of things.
Reboot it, clean it up, make it accessible to a whole new generation of viewers who can experience that kind of magic.
But I hope they stay close to Roddenberry's vision. His view that a peaceful society can overcome obstacles through non-violence whenever possible - that the mission is to explore space, not to conquer it. That a captain can fight and ***** all he wants and still keep his fancy square chair.
But it's probably going to turn into Space Combat Visualizer 2.0 or some *****. - ciano, on 11/18/2008, -0/+7AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Chairboy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7My bet: Shatner _IS_ in it, and we're all being tremendously fooled for an epic cameo.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6Sulu has always been a swordsman. He was a swordsman on TOS.
- HunterKiller, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6...the writing off of Kirk, by BSG's Ronald D. Moore...
- Moetownslick, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6kirk should have died on the bridge of the enterprise, performing some impossible "kirk" maneuver, while taking out a total of 8 Birds of Prey...and saving the rest of the crew in the process. it was the only fitting way for kirk to die on star trek. dying while trapped under a bridge on a barren planet was just pathetic.
- diggduggDOOM, on 11/19/2008, -0/+6Lazers fix everything. Huzzah!
- Kohaxx, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6Quinto's actually a good actor and a big Star Trek fan, I'm sure he'll do the character justice.
- ima007, on 11/19/2008, -3/+8A warning from Chrome about this website!

(That's the only part of the trailer I didn't like; I was really hoping to see it this Christmas.)
- morogolus, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5It's like a huge present sitting under the tree for Christmas, could be a lame piggy bank, could be a bad ass remote controlled monster truck
- digiguy, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5You suck
- chrisemc, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5Shatner was offered a role, held out for more cash and then the offer got yanked. It's a shame, him and Nimoy on the screen together one more time would have been pretty cool.
- colincornaby, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5"1. Enterprise, all Starfleet capital ships really, are built in spacedock they never land on the surface of a planet. Janeway mentions that Voyager is one of the biggest starships that can still touchdown."
Abrams has hinted that the final work will be done in space. Also, Voyager was about the same size as the original Enterprise.
"2. Kirk grew up in Iowa, so how does the young Kirk wind up in a car driving it over a desert cliff? For that matter his having a juvenile record would probably have kept him out of Starfleet."
Looked like Iowa to me. The wide fields should be a giveaway.
Look at the cliff more closely. It looks man made to me.
"3. Kirk was a lieutenant on the Constitution with Gary Mitchell while Spock was on Enterprise with Chris Pike.
There's lottsa other stuff but basically Abrams is throwing out/altering to much well established backstory for me to be comfortable with it. I'll wait for the thing to come out on DVD and rent"
Chris Pike is in the movie, so I wouldn't assume this plot point isn't going to be in the movie. - colincornaby, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5Safari also gave me a warning. I wonder what's up...
- asgardshill, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Líquido (pee pee) expuesto a un vacío se evapora muy rápidamente.
(Thank God for Babelfish such as it is - my Spanish is awful). - cnot3, on 11/19/2008, -1/+5That's why prequels suck ass. Just come up with a new Star Trek series that doesn't suck; Enterprise doesn't have to kill the franchise (it was a prequel as well, not like it was a surprise that it was terrible).
- JasonCox, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5Buried because you're full of Shat.
(ok, so you're not, I just felt like saying that. at least we have Nimoy!) - Madrigalian, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4yeppers.
- cnot3, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4Reminds me of an old TOS episode, The Enemy Within,

I'M CAPTAIN KIRK! I'M CAPTAIN KIRK! IIIIII'M CAAAAAPTAAAAIN KIIIIIRK!!!!! - pe5t1lence, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Oh god.
Maybe Sulu and Chekov will find that in space, no one can hear you... Love - tapeworm77, on 11/19/2008, -0/+4Is this a gay joke? I can't tell.
