- yocouchdigga, on 10/22/2009, -3/+22"Just to let you know from the beginning, I'm going to be stoned in my trailer every morning and all day long. But before anyone panics, I've been stoned in every movie I've been in, and I was stoned when I auditioned for you. You've basically never seen me when I'm not stoned. The guy that you've cast is basically stoned, so don't be alarmed that I'm in my trailer getting stoned." - What a ***** awesome way to live, being famous, banging hotties and getting baked... I'm envious.
- CB810, on 10/22/2009, -4/+21Doug Liman = Swingers, Go, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Jumper (mostly good movies)

- CoreyTamas, on 10/23/2009, -2/+9To be fair, they're two different kinds of French.
- CoreyTamas, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Okay, as a Canadian who learned French in the Canadian school system and then, as an adult, lived in Montreal... let me just clarify something:
The basics of French as a language are the same in France and Quebec. Without colloquialisms and regional flourishes, they're a lot the same. This is why you can teach French from a textbook in grade school or high school and there's really no distinction between "Parisian" or "Quebecois". Having Quebecois teachers often means that the accent we learn is Quebecois (which is why I mentioned it above), but the material is pretty much the same.
Parisian French is not as "pure" as Quebecois French in that the nuances and turns of speech bend the basic grammar and usage rules more than Quebecois French... but this is not to say that Quebecois French is superior. In fact, linguists might argue the opposite; that Quebecois French is not as evolved or rich or colorful. This isn't my area of expertise so I don't want to speak too decisively about it, but this is what I've been told many times.
I can say with confidence, however, that there isn't a major difference between the teaching of "Quebecois" or "Parisian" French in Canada until you reach post-secondary levels. - DAC1138, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4Michael Bay comes to mind when reading this article.
- kaosethema, on 10/24/2009, -0/+4when have men not abused their authority?
when have women never taken advantage of said authority to gain some power/wealth?
two-way street - Tyberius, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3That's funny, I fell asleep during King Kong too.
- Encephalon, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3Doug Liman has always been notorious for thumbing his nose at everyone he works with if they're acting shady with him. I remember an interview when "GO" was released on DVD about how Columbia Pictures wanted their "torch lady" logo in the opening sequence to be left intact. He mostly, did just as he was asked... By "defacing" the torch lady through clever editing and intercutting the opening scene at an L.A. nightclub and people dancing through strobe lights.
- jerrolds, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I wonder if the actor was Nick Cage
- asnider, on 10/23/2009, -2/+4Moving the shoot from Montreal to Paris so he could practice his French? Is he not aware that Montreal is the 2nd largest city in the world where French is the main language (Paris being the first)?
Oops...that's just his "process." - asnider, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I'm inclined to agree with you, based on what little I know about French. However, I have noticed that Quebecois folks have an odd tendency to sometimes use English verbs in place of French ones. Je suis running.
- Quaestor44, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2I think there's hanky panky going on everywhere in the young-professional world, regardless of occupation.
- aethelberga, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Val Kilmer. He always looks stoned to me.
- homercles337, on 10/23/2009, -3/+5I take it P.A. means "personal assistant?"
- rypic7, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2FTA: "In an entry in a blog devoted to chronicling the development of his new film that apparently involves the moon, the Bourne Identity helmer let slip that that old "process" thing that has been used by generations of Hollywood enablers to excuse all sorts of psychotic behavior might just be, you know, creativity aside, a bunch of excuses used by megalomaniac directors and actors excuses to get away with shoving their hands down the crew's pants."
That is the most poorly written sentence I have ever read. - asnider, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3I'm not so sure how true that is. Most? Really? I recall learning French that was closer to Parisian French than Quebec French when I was in school (which I always thought was stupid...shouldn't we be learning Canadian French in Canada?). Of course, my French teacher was also Australian and spoke French with an Australian accent.
As you might imagine, my French is terrible. - soomprimal, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I've worked on 6 features.
There's a lot of hanky panky on set between crew members, bigtime and small, between power holders and power grabbers. It's not that shocking and it's rarely a case of unwelcome touching. The hours are extremely stressful. When a film is in production, you can sleep, but when you're awake, you are working on the movie for 12+ hours per day. People can easily let their guard down in these conditions, both on the giving and receiving ends. - CbME, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2Anyone that has worked on a film set will know that the PA's are generally not that hot.... the real hot ones get promoted pretty quickly to Associate Producers and the sort
- ultraseamus, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2Man, directors are going to be pitching tents all over the place now.
- xthpsgodx, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1I did not Your heard about that.
- EatingPie, on 10/23/2009, -2/+3Pretty inflammatory headline. There was just one paragraph about the PAs, and it was "fondling" them, not banging them. The behavior was till unconscionable... along with the studio's response.
The director who fell asleep on set was very likely Peter Jackson on King Kong (it was show in the video blogs). Though, to be honest, he fell asleep out of exhaustion, not out of being a flake.
-Pie - Ch3fB0yard33, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Title Dugg.
- Tallon29, on 10/23/2009, -1/+2... and almost all English teachers in the US are American. The analogy still stands.
- 8bitflu, on 10/23/2009, -2/+3Time to keep being me.
- CoreyTamas, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1The country has two official languages. That's gonna happen sometimes.
- NextGenXbox, on 10/24/2009, -1/+2Because his good films outweigh his bad films; and there are far worse films out there than Smith and Jumper.
- ace00000, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Any guesses as to who the stoned actor was?
- asnider, on 10/23/2009, -4/+5True, but it's kind of like saying you should move the shoot from New York to London so you can practice your English. It's a different dialect, but it's the same language.
- TexanRudeBoy, on 10/24/2009, -1/+2Hardly, the public is just so used to the amount of garbage that gets put out there that bad movies don't seem as crappy by comparison. IMO, at least 80% of the movies out are nearly unwatchable.
- ginetteginette, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1keanu reeves??
- CoreyTamas, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Asnider... you edited your comment so my reply no longer makes sense. Thanks for making me look looney.
- inactive, on 10/23/2009, -1/+1Yay consensual rape!
- SlyT862, on 10/23/2009, -2/+2The idea is that they get away with it because they can say, "it's just part of my artistic process." As dumb as the studios may be, I don't see them considering Michael Bay an auteur.
Roman Polanski comes to mind. - harrisbradley, on 10/23/2009, -1/+1Process approved
- Encephalon, on 10/23/2009, -2/+2Jim Breuer.
- Gaminkake, on 10/23/2009, -1/+0Exactly what I was thinking!!
- inactive, on 10/23/2009, -1/+0"And what did the studio do? They built a tent so no one could see. They created a private little video village for him so they wouldn't get sued for sexual harassment by the rest of the crew."
That's so awesome! - TexanRudeBoy, on 10/23/2009, -3/+1Why is he being dugg down? Mr. and Mrs. Smith & Jumper are two of the worst movies out there.
- CoreyTamas, on 10/23/2009, -5/+1Not entirely true. Remember: Almost all the French teachers in Canada are Quebecois. They influence how French is taught.
- Ziriux, on 10/23/2009, -5/+1A nice excuse indeed.
- taffjohnsonJr, on 10/23/2009, -20/+2You forgot the sarcasm tag.
