I mean, what well-equipped crime-fighter *wouldn't* have a "Bat Alphabet Soup Analyzer"? It wasn't until I was in my teens and started watching re-runs that I "got it", and I laughed my ass off. I still do.
I don't think Hollywood's writers are talented enough these days to come up with something so campy and do it well. Pity, that.

Adam West delivered the most outrageously camp lines while the villains were chewing the scenery (Christ, with Frank Gorshin redefining "over the top") and he did it totally deadpan. Stone faced. I admire him for that if nothing else.
BTW, the Batman series was wildly successful - so much so they made a movie after the first season. Not many TV series (if any) you can say that about.
And the shark exploded because the Penguin - that fiendish felonius fowl! - rigged it with explosives.

Razz A. Ghoul = Ra's al Ghul = One of the more prominent and one of the best villans in the DC universe. Also one of batman's most formidable enemies.

It's not live action, but Venture Bros might be the best thing in that department these days and I think it does a better job of being campy and not intellectually insulting.
