- chocobomog, on 01/18/2008, -1/+59Um, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within still looks amazing even by today's standards. People may have trouble with the story (or the uncanny valley), but the visuals have held up well. It still looks better and more detailed than almost all non-Pixar CG films released today.
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -0/+31first one is a bit stupid, jurassic park dinos still look pretty good.
- SmackMyMac, on 01/18/2008, -2/+26I hope it's ALF.
All the stray cats in NYC would be gone! - inactive, on 01/18/2008, -2/+25Sorry but Lawnmower man still looks awesome to me, like TRON and other films that pioneered CGI ... the use of good art direction to deliver their visual impact is just as impressive now as it was then, photo realism doesn't count for everything.
- Sedako, on 01/18/2008, -1/+15Jurassic Park still has some of the best special effects I've ever seen in a movie. Compare it to the crap CGI seen in the Spiderman movies and you'll see what I mean.
- loudintl, on 01/18/2008, -2/+15I don't think the intention is to support Ron Paul but to highlight RP spam, in which case it probably has the exact effect they intend.
- jdpwnsyou, on 01/18/2008, -1/+13I wanna go to Australia, its like a trip to the beach and the future.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -1/+13This whole list is junk. Half the points are already debunked.

- HiroOfShadows, on 01/18/2008, -0/+11Trust me, it's a really cool monster, nothing I was expecting it to be.
- Trustthedust, on 01/18/2008, -2/+125 things that would make the movie way sweeter if they were the Cloverfield monster. http://www.scene-stealers.com/blogs/cloverfield-mo ...
- ValencianWind, on 01/18/2008, -1/+11I was at one of the screenings and the monster looks amazing
- MyBookie, on 01/18/2008, -3/+12I am a huge Ron Paul supporter, but I must say that saying "Ron Paul" in unrelated areas is just idiotic and has the totally opposite effect which you would hope. Go ahead and support Ron Paul, but do it in places where people are discussing him or presidential politics.
- bagboyrebel, on 01/18/2008, -0/+9The only part of Advent Children I saw was the fight scene. In other words, I saw the whole movie.
- gabzlotin, on 01/18/2008, -1/+9Regarding #3 - I was very interested in the monster. And I'm female. And i didn't sulk. I actually enjoyed the movie a lot.
Did i mention that I'm female?
I know, you probably don't believe me.. you probably didn't even know that women could make their way onto Digg without male supervision. - marcomc2, on 01/18/2008, -2/+10Why? Are you one of those "a lot of people like it so I'll hate it" type of person?
- AGiantBear, on 01/18/2008, -1/+9Don't watch this movie! The Cloverfield monster turns out to be Carlos Mencia! He steals King Kong's whole Empire State building routine, and just rehashes it!
- h4mx0r, on 01/18/2008, -1/+8I still think Final Fantasy: Spirits Within looks decent. Obviously we have better now but I truly still think it ain't ugly. Plus, I want a remake of something like that. Some kind of techno militaristic movie, like starship troopers or FF:SW... or Aliens... goddamn.
- masterm1nd, on 01/18/2008, -6/+13A good movie?
- rompom7, on 01/18/2008, -0/+7I've already seen Cloverfield (Living in Australia is good when the movies don't come out a week or more after they do in the states).
I will withhold my judgment of the movie in general because it can give you the wrong frame of mind when you see the movie.. But one thing is certain.. The monster gets hardly any screen time. You only get one decent look at it near the end, but then only of its face. - Apolloi, on 01/18/2008, -0/+7Whoa, whoa, whoa! Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within still looks pretty amazing to me. It's pretty difficult to distinguish Dr. Cid from CGI and live-action.
- MacBandit, on 01/18/2008, -1/+8I didn't think Advent Children was visually any better than Spirits Within. Although I could be biased because I didn't care for the story in Advent Children and love Spirits Within
- Tomson74, on 01/18/2008, -0/+7Too bad it won't be Roseanne Barr on a hunger quest on NYC.
- sleeknerve, on 01/18/2008, -0/+6its actually in the trailer, the side of it, one tenth of a side, but its there
- latrosicarius, on 01/18/2008, -0/+6It's much harder to make realistic CGI people than some made up monster creature.
- diggerman32, on 01/18/2008, -0/+6#9: The Staypuff Marshmallow Man
- A-money, on 01/18/2008, -1/+7so is your computer in the kitchen or the bedroom?
- krisscofield, on 01/18/2008, -1/+6The only reason fanboys didn't like FF:Spirit Within (which was visually incredible) was because it wasn't a 100% ridiculous clone of a ridiculous game, and cosplaying as realistic-looking people wouldn't be any fun.
- wushi, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5i really hope it fits in an envelope ...
- inactive, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5Saw this last night (Australia) - great movie! Love the subway scenes... that's all I better say.
- GunsGermsSteel, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5It's a good movie and a good monster. I understand where this guy is coming from but if he just waited a day, he wouldn't have written that article.
- joshuabowers, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5It was about half and half, actually: some of the shots they used animatronics for (if I remember correctly, the T-Rex attack on the cars), while others were CG (like the flock of Gallimimus).
- palmer, on 01/18/2008, -3/+8#1. In the frame. Ever. They're too busy emulating the totally incompetent camerawork that dominates Web video.
- browwiw, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5WTF ever happened to virtual reality, anyway?
- pands, on 01/18/2008, -0/+4tell me more about your girlfriend please
- chromerium, on 01/18/2008, -1/+5Reality hit.
- Kronos6948, on 01/18/2008, -0/+4Here come the friend requests.
- directive0, on 01/18/2008, -0/+4Docta, I am happy to report that you are, in fact, very much mistaken. My condolences.
- marcomc2, on 01/18/2008, -1/+5I just saw it. Its alive. Its huge. Bla bla bla.
It was ***** amazing. I am so glad it did not disappoint, surpassed my expectations and became a modern day monster film that I will remember forever. Some of the scenes were so perfect. I feel like I just came out of a....well, I feel like I was there, and am now safe. Go watch it. If you want to, of course. - Dylson, on 01/18/2008, -0/+49. Dick Cheney
- khildahl, on 01/18/2008, -0/+3Uhhh... It's Digg. They must mock what they don't understand.
- smaster, on 01/18/2008, -1/+4O.K. people.
I saw the movie last night...(with a manager of a silver city and a handful of friends)... honest there were about 15 of us in the whole place.
I can tell you that the movie was great!
The monster is "Godzilla like" with longer bat like arms but way better done. there are enough good shots where you can see the whole monster.
and a final "in case you missed it" entire shot of the monster at the end.
That being said... I, even after seeing the movie in full couldn't tell you if it was only the one "big" monster the whole time... other then the smaller ones...or if there were more than one "big" one
I think i might go check it out again on the weekend to be more sure...
Very well done giant monster movie... all from the one cameras view. - stanleyford, on 01/18/2008, -0/+3Or a R.O.U.S?
- pands, on 01/18/2008, -1/+4It's a RAT.
- doctapeppa, on 01/18/2008, -4/+7As an avid fan of the show "Lost" I doubt we will ever get to see "the Cloverfield monster". Instead they will offer more questions and make you watch another and another movie to find the answer, only to find more questions.
- jasonpoon, on 01/18/2008, -1/+4Watched it in Hong Kong. There's a monster, and just an ordinary monster, maybe a little bit different from what you seen in other monster movie.
The movie's great but J.J. Abrams wants that creature to be the American Godzilla? No way. - Chirp08, on 01/18/2008, -0/+3they can have a sequel where she fights the staypuff marshmallow man! of course she will just eat him, but it could be fun.
- TheRoller, on 01/18/2008, -0/+3And everything else on Digg is of vital importance?
- darkgreystar, on 01/18/2008, -1/+3Maybe it's a one ton rat from Uruguay.
- twentytortures, on 01/18/2008, -0/+2Only commenting because I like the way the comment stack looks.
