  • AssProphet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Does anyone else feel like this list was poorly thrown together? I mean wtf.. there's Artificial Intelligence and Minority Report which is directly followed by a double 2 pack set of AI and Minority Report.

    There is also Spiderman 1 and 2 and then the spiderman 1 & 2 together in a 2 disc set.

    Sure there are some good movies on this list, but come on.

    Dugg for including Galaxy Quest as I have a thing for Sigourney Weaver that goes back to Ghostbusters in my childhood.

  • theblooms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Yes, thanks! I completely forgot about Excalibur. That is one AWESOME movie if you have never seen it. I remember I saw it as a kid when it came out, and I watched it over and over. Great movie! I am going to try to get it and re-watch it again as soon as I can.

  • junk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Dugg for Gattaca. I ***** can't stand Ethan Hawke, the whole rat-faced intellectual poseur vibe and all that, but that was still a solid sci-fi movie that is often overlooked.

  • saska, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Here's my advice if you're buying a movie for somebody: if you don't know them well enough to know whether they'd like the DVD in your shopping cart, don't buy it.
  • inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I liked the original Dune movie, it's not as accurate as the new one, but it got the characters exactly right; near perfect.

  • Ayavaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That's odd because Garden State is one of my all-time favorite movies. It celebrates little weird things in life that we often treat as mundane. Of course, it takes this a little beyond reality but not so far out that you'll be screaming shenanigans.

    Another thing I like about the movie is that it serves as a counterpoint to Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. In Brave New World, everyone is drugged up and happy but here, everyone is drugged up and unhappy. They see how it is dulling their lives and their escapism is responsible for the dullness they're trying to fill.

    PLUS: It has Natalie Portman playing an incredibly endearing character.

    It's a fun movie with some substance to it also. Give it a bit more credit than that.
