- CapeKid, on 04/18/2008, -2/+36That T2 alternate ending was atrocious.
- Scopitone, on 04/18/2008, -4/+36About that Army of Darkness one - "And it wasn't until the DVD was released, the new ending was viewed,"
Not true. That scene was on laserdisc years before. Meaning DOZENS of people saw it ;) - centran, on 04/18/2008, -2/+30The other I Am Legend ending was perfect. I am not sure if they even tested that one. I think the studio just thought the viewing audience is too stupid to realize what just happened and why the title is "I Am Legend" so they slapped some crap ***** ending together with some religious over-tones to make the studio execs happy.
- winmywii, on 04/18/2008, -2/+27omglist.com? wtf?
-Actually the people who created the site are geniuses. They knew every article would end up on digg. - BrendanSheehan, on 04/18/2008, -4/+2810 lists from MrBabyMan
- Asianwaste, on 04/18/2008, -1/+24I'm torn between the endings of T2. If the scripted ending happened, then T3 would have never happened. However it's so damn corny I can barely watch it.
- greeniemeani, on 04/18/2008, -2/+25Dug for a picture of a cat and for Mr Babyman spam.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 04/18/2008, -0/+19Since when did time travel into the past ever make any sense?
- inactive, on 04/18/2008, -2/+17The whole time I was watching "I am Legend" I was thinking there was something more to the 'zombie,' there was a gleam of intelligence in him and he seemed to have it out for Will Smith personally. The whole time, I thought the female zombie must have been something--a daughter a girlfriend--but they never addressed it. Now I see I was right! Ha! Take that!
- slinky317, on 04/18/2008, -3/+15Knowing what the book was about, I was waiting for him to realize that the "monsters" were able to think and weren't just zombies. I was totally disappointed in the theatres when they totally changed the meaning of "I Am Legend".
- scalemodlgiant, on 04/18/2008, -1/+13Original ending for Little Shop of Horrors was so much better. The plant WINS, and goes on a godzilla-style rampage through all the major cities. Damn you, test audiences!
- str3ama, on 04/18/2008, -3/+15NeXT *spoiiler*spoiler*
about a solid 1 1/2 hours of the movie never happened, it rewinds backwards and shows that it was all a vision/dream. The next 5 minutes shows him turning himself in to the fbi/cia/whoever was after him. - Zihuatanejo, on 04/18/2008, -2/+12I SLEPT TOO LONG!
- mrNesbitt, on 04/18/2008, -0/+10I haven't read the book, so the true meaning of the title is lost on me, but regardless, I still think that the alt. ending fits much much better with the rest of the movie. Capturing the vampire's girl is what spurred all of the action in the film, and there were little references throughout as he gradually learned that the vampires were actually intelligent. Then in the theatrical ending it's all (literally) blown away and never addressed.
Still, in the alt ending why TF is there still a bridge left for them to drive across? - yohnstoppable, on 04/18/2008, -2/+12The slept too long Army of Darkness ending sucks. Hail to the King, baby, ftw
- NathanielJ, on 04/18/2008, -0/+9Where's the beginning of your sentence?
- dlrudden, on 04/18/2008, -1/+9Just remind yourself the infant is Ashton Kutcher.
- diablo2007, on 04/18/2008, -0/+7Thats what happens when movie producers decide to go with the ending that worked '71 (see: The Omega Man) rather than the director's intended ending that was closer to the meaning of the actual book...
- slinky317, on 04/18/2008, -2/+9It was pretty bad. And it also doesn't make sense... if they stopped Skynet from becoming real, then there was never any war, Reese never went back into the past and slept with Sarah Connor, so John was never born... yet there he is in the ending.
- centran, on 04/18/2008, -0/+7Quick answer assuming we call the "creatures" vampires.
Vampires are legendary to us. In "I Am Legend" the entire population has been transformed into vampires. The new vampire society hears stories of a creature that can walk in the light and comes to kill them in their sleep.
Neville has become a legend. - NecroSexy, on 04/18/2008, -1/+7This is sickening. No self-respecting artist would alter their work simply because a "test audience" didn't like it. To quote Danny Glover in Predator 2: "Might as well cut off my dick, and shove it up my ass."
- mrNesbitt, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6Thanks for the explanation! That's a cool concept, and yes, sooooo different from how the movie portrays it.
- inactive, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6Notice the topic is MOVIES that had their endings changed after being screened, not books that had a different ending than their movies.
- NathanielJ, on 04/18/2008, -0/+6The entire movie makes no sense if you're actually going to try to analyze the time-travel aspect of it.
- MicheleFloyd, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5I was actually going to pass on the chance to read this article until the cat picture caught my eye, proving once again that kittens are irresistable.
- logiksan, on 04/18/2008, -0/+5No Brazil. This list is so full of fail.
The entire theme of the movie was altered by removing the final shot for American audiences.
Plus, whoever made this list has pretty bad tastes in movies. - NathanielJ, on 04/18/2008, -1/+6Terminator 2 "isn't worth *****"?
Get off the internet. - SSCrow, on 04/18/2008, -3/+8The I am Legend Alternate ending is way better.
I'm so sick of script writers whoring the dramatic sacrifice of the Hero's life as the only way to get out of a situation that was not well planned out or executed.
The alternate ending answers some of the hints that were given throughout the movie that the infected are still people. - Gutterpunk, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4*Thy post hast spoiler*
The theatrical ending was a major mistake IMHO... The alternate ending explains who made the trap, remove God from the movie, make more sense than to have people saved from an explosion just because they were hiding in a furnace less than 3 feet from the origin of the explosion, and explains how they got out of the town with a 4x4 when they led us to believe that the only reason why they were there was because the bridges were blown up (ie : the sentient vampires had no interests in getting out after all, Neville was there willingly, trying to help them. It explains why there is survivor as well)
I wish I could re-burn my copy of I Am Legend with the alternate ending... - Scrappy1850, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5why is 6 afraid of 7?
- cresswga, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4...but he is still wearing the clothes that Jessica Biel was _about_ to buy him...
- daRoach, on 04/18/2008, -1/+5I don't know about satisfying, but it kind of would have made sense to end this way. Closing the loop of Dante's argument about a movie ending on a down note just like life; though with the tone of the movie I don't think it would have gone over well.
- NathanielJ, on 04/18/2008, -2/+6Haha, I love it when people list off movies like Brazil and Dr. Strangelove to try to convince the world that they have good taste in movies. Why not just throw Citizen Kane on the list so that there will be no doubt left in our minds?
Seriously though, T2 was pretty excellent. - Niightwitch, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4You're out of your mind if you rate T2 and Robocop about equally.
- robthom, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4You just quoted predator 2. Thats all I can say because I'm speechless.
- robthom, on 04/18/2008, -0/+4Um...I'm not even gonna bother asking for your evidence of that.
- phronko, on 04/18/2008, -1/+57 8 9 lol
- NathanielJ, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Seriously, calling me a nerd on Digg? Does the phrase "pot, meet kettle" sound familiar?
97% on RottenTomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/terminator_2_judgm ... - newznozzl, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5I liked the ending for 1404 a lot more - much more creep y.And the I Am Legend ending was what I THOUGHT was going to happen - still wondering WTF they did the other one. Holy crap, the alt ending is MUCH better
- str3ama, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3I don't know where you've been but lists started making up 3/4ths of Digg about 2 years ago.
- Protonz, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3Thanks for that explanation. I kept feeling that there was something more to that movie, but they REALLY blew it with the theatrical ending.
- warplayer, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3You just made an argument for art and mentioned Predator 2 in the same comment.
- ZachSka87, on 04/18/2008, -2/+5They spelled "Script" as "Scirpt" in the address for the site.
- plizard, on 04/18/2008, -1/+4gotta get advertising revenue somehow
- derflan, on 04/18/2008, -3/+6heh two 7 lists in a row....
- warplayer, on 04/18/2008, -0/+3Sounds like urban legend material for sure
- Sirlolalot, on 04/19/2008, -1/+3Indeed T3 it's so damn corny I can barely watch it.
The extended ending of T2 is my excuse for pretending T3 doesn't exist. ;) - warplayer, on 04/18/2008, -0/+2Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Abyss is one of the most famous examples of this. It was a bit different though, as the studio pushed James Cameron to shorten the film by nearly 40 minutes. He decided to scrap the ending which featured a visual effect of a huge tidal wave, and then after T2 was successful he was able to go back and redo it 5 years later with a better budget. A special edition of the movie was then given a limited release in major markets. Pretty freakin' cool that he got a do-over 5 years later, with a better budget to boot!
- califloridan, on 04/18/2008, -2/+4Umm, Return of the Jedi anyone?!?! In the original the Millennium Falcon gets blown up and Lando dies. Test audiences didn't like it, so instead we got dancing Ewoks.
