- digmark, on 08/20/2008, -2/+95The list is poor. However................ Dugg for Bill Hicks.
- spmyke, on 08/20/2008, -1/+78Jack Black as Bill Hicks? No. ***** no.
- sigsegfalt, on 08/20/2008, -0/+59PLEASE don't let the memory of Bill Hicks be tarnished by a portrayal from Jack Black. The 'wacky, overweight, party-dude everyone knew in college' shtick was not Bill Hicks', but is the only role Jack Black can accurately play.
- forestparks, on 08/20/2008, -1/+56At least Denis Leary wasn't there!!!!!
- roguemedia, on 08/20/2008, -0/+36He should only be played by someone who DOESN'T suck Satans *****
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/20/2008, -0/+29They should get an unknown.
- thickape, on 08/20/2008, -0/+29Bill Hicks was 32 when he died. The fact that he died young before he broke big is an important part of his story. How's about somebody younger?
- digmark, on 08/20/2008, -0/+27I think getting a "star" so to speak to play Bill Hicks would be be ironic. He was against all that kind of crap anyway, he'd turn in his grave.
Unknown, agree. - dfross, on 08/20/2008, -1/+23Why bother making a movie? Nobody was as good at being Bill Hicks as bill Hicks was.
Just show a few of his standup shows on the big screen. Untouched. I'd pay $10 to see that. - roguemedia, on 08/20/2008, -2/+20Why is Denis Leary a star while Bill Hicks is largely unknown?
Because there's No Cure for Cancer. - neocr0n, on 08/20/2008, -0/+16If they are going to do it I just hope they don't mess it up. Bill Hicks deserves the best.
- digmark, on 08/20/2008, -2/+17http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_hicks
Comedian who got some good messages along with his comedy. Lots of current comedians like Carlos Mencia and Dane Cook just rip off all his stuff.
Why not use Google before posting a pointless comment? - dafragsta, on 08/20/2008, -0/+14He'd roll over in his grave over JB playing him.
- awtripp, on 08/20/2008, -3/+16Bill Hicks is a legend in my book. If you can find any of the public access show interviews he did in Texas they're awesome. Check out the Bill Hicks DVDs, too. They have rare footage and a great compilation of material.
Also, if you have ever heard Tool's Aenima Album, Bill Hicks is in the liner notes and there are multiple clips played -- see Third Eye. Also, the "See you down in Arizona Bay" in Aenema is taken from a Bill Hicks routine. - NightcrawlerX, on 08/20/2008, -0/+12None of these people are the right kind of funny.
- RobotBuddha, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12For some reason when I saw the title I thought it was going to be the top seven people who stole from Bill Hicks.
- DukeMojo, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12Where have you been?
- neocr0n, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11He died of cancer. He was a heavy smoker, he often joked that he went through two lighters a day or something like that. Such a shame he's gone, in today's political climate I'm sure Bill Hicks would have a field day.
- bbqsalad, on 08/20/2008, -1/+12Was going to just make a comment saying "GOD NO ANYONE BUT JACK BLACK", but thanks, dugg.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+11i will definitely kill someone if they choose dane cook
- bjs3171, on 08/20/2008, -2/+12holy *****, Russel Crowe DOES look like him.
Duchovny would probably be good too. he's pretty damn funny in Californication. - durazine, on 08/20/2008, -2/+12What is the plot of this movie? Whatever it is my vote is for Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -1/+11Bill Hicks was an intelligent comedian. Jack Black portraying him in a movie would be a slap in the face to his legacy. Jack Black is just plain stupid and not in a funny way.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -3/+13J B, that's the panda man
- VAXcat, on 08/20/2008, -0/+10 I wish Jack Black was as funny as he thinks he is.

Most inspirational Bill Hicks bit. - durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -1/+10
As long as Akiva Goldsman stays the hell away from this project. I'm worried that they'll do for Bill Hicks what they did for John Nash: Make a tear-jerking drama about his tortured life, etc., etc.
The great thing about Bill Hicks wasn't his life. He was just some ***** up, pissed off kid from Texas who liked to bitch about things. The great thing about Bill Hicks was his comedy. Who he was and what he did and said on the stage, not off it. Like ignoring the Nash Equilibrium in favor of standard hollywood fare about failed relationships, a movie which doesn't put Bill Hicks front and center with a microphone in his hand won't be doing the man any justice. - clemdia, on 08/20/2008, -0/+9Buried for putting the words "Jack Black" and "Bill Hicks" in the same universe...
- 0260, on 08/20/2008, -0/+9Duchovny can play anyone, you just have to pre-load to software first.
- theselfishgene, on 08/20/2008, -1/+10maybe he's famous because he's a great actor? not because of his looks?
- sodade, on 08/20/2008, -0/+8I hope that anyone who is going "who the hell is Bill Hicks" goes to youtube and watches his standup. Like Carlin, Hicks was way more of a social commentator than a comedian.
- blogosphear, on 08/20/2008, -2/+10John Ritter would've been perfect
:( - rockefeller2, on 08/20/2008, -1/+8Yeah, I can't stand Jack Black and his 15 year old humor
- billizm, on 08/20/2008, -1/+8@JeffH
That, and he sucks Satan's *****. - OCSmoke, on 08/20/2008, -1/+8I love Jack Black, but he would be a HORRIBLE choice to play Bill Hicks.
Bill Hicks was way too complex to be played as some kind of goofy joker. - therightclique, on 08/20/2008, -0/+7Don't forget his good friend Denis Leary, who has built his career off of stealing from Bill Hicks.
- dafragsta, on 08/20/2008, -1/+8Yeah, Tool wrote a song about it in 1997, which was a few years after it happened. Not that long ago really.
- wrathchilde, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6Can't agree more with "get an unknown". Will add; I think it needs to be an actor, not a comedian, at least not one listed here. Google Bill Hicks and heckler video. Great stuff from a venue that looks like 20 people in some one's basement.
- antipoet, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6Somehow, I think Bill Hicks would laugh his ass off at that choice. Probably endorse it too!
- JeffH, on 08/20/2008, -1/+7So you think that because Denis Leary had a superior (in your opinion) way of delivering Bill Hicks' jokes, he's famous?
No.
The only reason that really makes sense is that Denis Leary got a bigger break when he started. His breakthrough albums were released on major comedy labels (the albums that contain material seemingly stolen from Hicks), while Hicks' albums were all released on smaller labels that couldn't afford to advertise as much. - Araya213, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6The only one on the list I could see playing Bill Hicks is Paul Giamatti. Jack Black? ***** no, he'll ***** ruin it. Or better yet, lets leave his legacy intact and instead release a feature film of his stand up.
- antipoet, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6Stand up comic from the early 90's. He's a little (maybe a lot) lewd, but mixed in there is Truth with a captial 't'. At least it was for me. His more insightful ideas (passed out as comedy) changed the way I looked at the world completely.
- JustFender, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v2IZQCrSgo
no this is the bill hicks does rick roll - BDOUG, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5I've only seen Jack Black in a few things but doesn't he mug for the camera a little too much for this one?
- MisterRik, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Funnily enough it was the British who really warmed to Bill. Our inbuilt level of cynicism meant that we just got him, on the whole, more that US audiences.
- Tallon29, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5... you just DID make a comment saying "GOD NO ANYONE BUT JACK BLACK"
- KittySpark1es, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6I'd like to see a Mitch Hedberg movie too.
- chuckDontSurf, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5"I think Bill Hicks is more famous for questioning the norm when that scared the ***** out of people. "
Yeah, but some people act like he was the first one to do it. Don't forget about Richard Pryor and George Carlin; I'm sure there are others. - dimebonics, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Please no... you've already collectively ruined everything from my childhood, please leave this one alone!
- neocr0n, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6To be fair I never said lung cancer, I just said cancer and I'm pretty sure that smoking is a risk factor for pancreatic cancer, one of many factors but worth mentioning I thought.
