- M4v3rIC, on 10/12/2007, -3/+41Natalie Portman is a fox.
- SwabTheDeck, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37Pretty interesting, but a lot of the plot holes that they list aren't really plot holes.
"Princess Leia, with the Death Star plans, was sent to retrieve Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring him to Alderaan. What was he going to do once he got there?"
Uhhh... I'd image it would be to do what actually ended up happening which was analyze the plans and blow up the god damn Death Star, but without all the hooplah of Alderaan getting destroyed in the process.
"Wouldn’t a massive reactor explosion and falling debris devastate Endor?"
Probably not any more than an evil empire devastating Endor.
"Why does C-3P0 act like he’s never been to Tatooine in “Episode IV – A New Hope”? He was built there by the future Darth Vader, whom he also seems to not know all that well. He’d even been to the Lars homestead before."
I remember pretty clearly at the end of Episode III hearing Senator Organa giving the droids to Cpt. Antilles and telling him to "have the protocol droid's memory erased."
"When the Millennium Falcon flees the Death Star, it destroys four TIE fighters. But the Empire let them go. (It was the only explanation for the ease of their escape.) Were those some of their more expendable pilots? What if one got off a lucky shot?"
Oh my lord, they very thoroughly explain this in the movie. The idea was that the empire lets them think that Han and Co. were victorious so that they could track them to the Rebel Base. I mean, COME ON!
I'm trying not to sound like a complete dork, but there are bigger plot holes like how Syphideous was able to comission and pay for a clone army without anyone noticing that the money was gone or, more importantly, how in the hell Luke is so damn good with a light saber even though he never had training for it. - nesagwa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31Man, thats your answer for everything.
- steve693, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Great lines
Leia: I love you
Han: I know.
%u201CEpisode V %u2013 The Empire Strikes Back%u201D
Better than all the dialog in the three prequels, combined. - metsfansam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27That's because George didn't direct.
- Xeppo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Originally, Harrison Ford was scripted to say "I love you too." Only right before shooting the scene did Harrison Ford decide that "I love you too" was not something that Han Solo would ever say.
- sauron256, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23"Plot holes Did no one in the Rebel Alliance think to back up the Death Star plans? Is it really plausible that there was only one copy?"
Obviously they had DRM in a galaxy far, far away... - thatsiebguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19"But I was going to Tashi station to pick up some power converters...!!"
- Brightside, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18A great line missing from this:
Han to Chewie: "Laugh it up, fuzzball" Ep. V - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16how is that a plot hole? thats like saying boromir showing up at the great council is a plot hole.
- eagleswings, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16It's pre-Episode 3 but still a fun read
- fudgeigor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17"how in the hell Luke is so damn good with a light saber even though he never had training for it."
uh... The Force? - DrOBoogie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Pilot- One who operates or is licensed to operate an aircraft in flight.
Podracers fly, if only a few feet above the ground. Therefore, Anakin was a pilot. - Jedimonkey27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It wasn't really right before the shoot. It was more like that they had been shooting that same scene over and over again trying different lines so finally Harrison got fed up and said "I know" just to be a smart ass. The rest is history.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yeah I'm willing to bet that since the death star was in orbit, most of it's debris would stay in orbit.
- Modulo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"Luke, use the montage"
- Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"Gandalf the Grey fought Obi-Wan Kenobi? Discuss."
Gandalf the Grey, no contest obi-wan would win. Gandalf the White however, maybe an even match. - Vokas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Your idea of "plot hole" is ***** stupid.
- Angmar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Han saved Chewy's life from slavers and thus had to quit the Imperial Army and become a smuggler.
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Or like the surname Antilles in the SW universe, it's just a common name (referring of course to both Captain Antilles of the Tantive IV and Wedge Antilles of Rogue Squadron).
But yes, if a shampoo bottle has to explicitly say to not use orally, your theory is probably more correct. - CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Plot holes Princess Leia, with the Death Star plans, was sent to retrieve Obi-Wan Kenobi to bring him to Alderaan. What was he going to do once he got there?"
Talk to Jimmy Schmitt and get things crack-a-lackin. - Visnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Plot holes How well-hidden was Luke Skywalker really? He was at Darth Vader’s half brothers’ house on Darth’s home planet. Nobody bothered to change Luke’s last name. Neither did Obi-Wan."
I always wondered this one, but the answer is simple, if you change Luke's last name, that would confuse the ignorant masses we call the consumer as they would not be able to fathom the fact Like and Vader are related with out a common last name. Simple really. look at the facts, directions on shampoo bottles, need I say more. - davehendrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Consider these two for a minute:
"Plot holes How well-hidden was Luke Skywalker really? He was at Darth Vader’s half brothers’ house on Darth’s home planet. Nobody bothered to change Luke’s last name. Neither did Obi-Wan."
"Awful dialogue “I don’t like sand. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here everything is soft and smooth.” “Episode II – Attack of the Clones”"
This awful dialogue, that everyone hates, actually addresses this so-called plot hole. Vader never returned to his home planet because he hates sand. He can't stand it. Just imagine hating it before the bionic suit, and then getting a full-body burn. Sand would get stuck in his robotic components and itch like mad. That is why Luke was safe on Tatooine. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9You know what really grinds my gears? How I can never find the droids I'm looking for!
- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What were you thinking, George? Greedo shoots first
No, that would be han - Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Captain Antilles is Wedge Antilles"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge_Antilles
During the resolution of Revenge of the Sith, Senator Bail Organa gives C-3P0 and R2-D2 to a "Captain Antilles," the captain of Organa's ship, the Tantive IV. This character, however, was not related to Wedge Antilles, according to the X-Wing series of novels; Wedge is Corellian and Captain Antilles is from Alderaan, things could have been different because according to interview Lucas offered the role to Lawson, who declined.
Now I am the lamest person in the thread. :(( - Handuar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://theforce.net/swtc/holocaust.html
This explains the whole Endor thing. - DrOBoogie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Plot holes Obi-Wan tells Luke that his father was already a great pilot when he first knew him. Is this how someone would actually describe a 9-year-old?"
He podraced.... - Dolomite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What's "snad"?
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I believe the author of this article meant it in response to George's 1997 "Special Edition" edit of ANH where the scene is re-edited to have Greedo shoot first.
In the 2004 DVD release, they both shoot at the same time, which is exactly 50% as lame as Greedo shooting first. - davehendrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How can they say that Leia's classic hairstyle was the worst in galactic history? It's a classic, and I say it's totally hot. Nuff said.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8These arn't the droids you are looking for
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6racers are not pilots. jeff gordon is not a pilot. nascar is not nasa.
- Hydroxyl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"Trivia: The nickname for the AT&T logo is the Death Star."
Hah, I was always reminded of AT&T just by hearing AT-AT or AT-ST. - oriondr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5They forgot probably the worst line of dialog from episode 3:
(Whiney Anakin voice) "From my point of view the Jedi are evil!" - sliderocity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I'm trying not to sound like a complete dork, but there are bigger plot holes like how Syphideous was able to comission and pay for a clone army without anyone noticing that the money was gone or, more importantly, how in the hell Luke is so damn good with a light saber even though he never had training for it."
I'm trying to sound like a dork and I'm telling you that he proooooobably had lightsaber training. In the interest of time, they obviously couldn't have showed every aspect of his training with Yoda. The use of a montage implies a long, grueling training regimen, and if you analyze other force powers Luke uses throughout the trilogy, I'm sure you could find others which they don't explicitly show him training for. - Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you didn't think Leia's hairbuns were handles, you aren't heterosexual.
- Aggaman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I can't believe the world's worst employment promotion didn't get a mention.
"You are in charge, ADMIRAL Piett." - gameguy43, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3actually, i think theres reason for that. in episode one, whats his name, the little flying blue dood, watto? he wont take imperial currency from qui-gon. also the mom says specifically, imperial laws dont extend out to tatooine. basically, darth vader could have maybe looked there, but he didnt have super dooper kinglike control over the planet. his power didnt extend to tatooine, it sounds like it was sort of a safe haven.
- schleufer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Anakin definately had the capability to pilot any craft he was sitting in, with some amount of competence. At the end of Episode I, he flies a Naboo Fighter into a Federation ship and blows it up.
Just because we never saw a 9-year-old Anakin fly many ships in Episode I, doesn't mean that he was incapable of doing so.
Anyone that can control a Podracer is definately a "pilot". The PC version of that game is still among my fav racing games of all time. - biofusion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Brought back some good memories. Episode I, II, and III however do not bring forth any good memories. Episode III was good, however knowing exactly what was going to happen didn't help...and it still let down in many areas.
- DiggidtyDog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Well I've watched all of them and I still don't know what the ***** Anakins problem was.
- Ragnar0k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is pre episode III, so they missed the worst line of dialog in all the movies combined:
"Don't make me kill you."
When hearing that, I wanted to hit Hayden around the head with a lightsaber-esque 2x4 - Recluse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3haha yeah that was one of my favorite lines.
- Maynardtwinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree with your point that most of the plot holes are not really holes. They are explained well, for the most part. It is obvious this guy wrote this before episode III came out. Too bad, without the plot holes part the article isn't too bad.
- intoflatlines, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree with gameguy.
Tatooine is in the outer rim and was ruled by gangsters basically. The Galactic Empire had no power there. - JackDoyle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2FTA: Why does C-3P0 act like he’s never been to Tatooine in “Episode IV – A New Hope”?
His mind was wiped at the end of Episode III. - roquetin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought the shield generator for Death Star II (and hence the holocaust following its destruction" was on, and I quote, "a forest moon of Endor." NOT Endor itself. Right guys?
- alxdman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Princess Leia in her Jaba The Hut slave costume ... .nuff said :p
- comradechimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Oh my lord, they very thoroughly explain this in the movie. The idea was that the empire lets them think that Han and Co. were victorious so that they could track them to the Rebel Base. I mean, COME ON!"
Yeah, but what was going through the minds of those TIE pilots? Were they under orders to allow the Falcon to escape? If so were they happy enough about their squad-mates being shot down to continue following those orders? -
