- scalemodlgiant, on 08/08/2008, -1/+94If you have to start listing the records a movie WON'T break, I think the movie's doing alright.
- AmyVernon, on 08/08/2008, -3/+84oh please, oh please, oh please break Titanic's record.
- duffy89, on 08/08/2008, -1/+46The video game development has no relevance to the success of the film. I could make some stupid records it couldn't break.
- Dagreenman, on 08/08/2008, -2/+38isn't it actually a GOOD thing that they didn't ***** out a game to coincide with the film?
- mrinsanity, on 08/08/2008, -4/+37OMG TITANIC WAS THE BEST MOVIE EVER BUT IS WAS SO SAD WHEN THE BOAT SANK I WAS LIKE OH NOES BUT IT WAS OK BECAUSE I SAW IT LEIK 20 TIMES
- Reaktor5, on 08/08/2008, -3/+32Hans Zimmer > Prince
Sorry. - Feanor, on 08/08/2008, -0/+287.) Most successful clay-mation film.
8.) Most Underwater scenes in a film.
9.) First film shoot entirely on Mars. - shadeOfGrey, on 08/08/2008, -1/+27Especially when you have to make up stupid ass records, like most Prince filled soundtrack.
- breakintheweb, on 08/08/2008, -1/+21The title:
6 Records the Dark Knight Won’t Break
3) Top domestic revenue
(At least, not yet.)
How do you contradict the title of your article? - AbelVoicu, on 08/08/2008, -2/+22Wow this author was desperate to nitpick. Videogame success, budget, Prince??? Lame.
- speedk0re, on 08/08/2008, -3/+18Dude WTF!!! Could have warned me about the spoiler...
- JPOGDNA, on 08/08/2008, -5/+20This article sucks.
- pathouston22, on 08/08/2008, -2/+17Cannot compare Batman to Titanic without considering inflation...
- chrisduser, on 08/08/2008, -0/+13oh please, oh please, oh please sink Titanic's record.
- DetpackJump, on 08/08/2008, -0/+12Cannot compare Titanic to Gone With the Wind without considering inflation...
- ShadowofAres, on 08/08/2008, -1/+13Yes
- advwar, on 08/08/2008, -4/+15Seriously, who cares what records a movie holds? If you like the film, watch it. Why does it matter how many others do the same as you?
- Frozo, on 08/08/2008, -0/+11How about the number of ACTUAL TICKETS SOLD?
All these other "records" are useless. - Gerz1219, on 08/08/2008, -0/+9Yeah, his career's really been going down the tubes as of late, what with him replacing De Niro as Scorsese's go-to guy and all.
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -2/+11"It's just a flesh wound!"
Oh wait you said DARK Knight. - Gooba, on 08/08/2008, -1/+9Crap movies like The Departed and Blood Diamond? I used to hate him, but recently he's won me over.
- deweyhewson, on 08/08/2008, -0/+8You've just witnessed the phenomenon responsible for:
- the scarcity of 3rd party votes in our elections
- the popularity of Hannah Montana, Avril Lavigne, and American Idol
- Disney's policy of a dozen sequels for everything it makes
...and countless other facets of our society. Depressing, isn't it? :) - speedk0re, on 08/08/2008, -0/+7Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself" - VigRoco, on 08/08/2008, -4/+10Lame, All I want to hear is how TDK will destroy Titanic and how it will send a message to Leo how he needs to quite being in crap movies like "Body of Lies".
- Merendino, on 08/08/2008, -0/+6Nice dude.
- bleutuna, on 08/08/2008, -2/+8Christ this list is useless. You guys DIGG up so much crap, it's insane.
- hipnerd, on 08/08/2008, -3/+8Sure, as long as your name isn't "aragolas." Or maybe that's just the name of your 23rd level elfin ranger?
- brjndr, on 08/08/2008, -2/+7"Would you like to hear how I got these scars?"
- Soniti, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5Seriously, like 3 of those things on there were ***** retarded. So in actuality, it's more like 3 things that The Dark Knight won't break, but even then, it's still within the realm of possibility.
- alexforcefive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+5You wouldn't be so glib if he really WAS a lvl 23 ranger.
...you'd be dead, is why. by BEAR ATTACK. - ShadowofAres, on 08/08/2008, -2/+6I just want my phone call.
- pathouston22, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Exactly. Also to consider is movie prices, number of movie theatres, overall population, etc.
Gone with the Wind kicks Titanic's and Batman's ass 50 times over cosidering all the factors. - Gravey9, on 08/08/2008, -1/+55 & 6 are irrelevant.
- Braindead360, on 08/08/2008, -2/+6So exactly what record is the Mummy breaking???
- IpodCrazy, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4I agree that Hans Zimmer is greater than Prince. But in terms of producing an actual good soundtrack and not the usual bombastic, super-hero, electronic music that comes from him. You hear that type of sound on just about every superhero soundtrack(iron man, the hulk). He's just not a good composer IMHO. Listen to the Gladiator soundtrack and listen to Gustav Holst's Mars: The Bringer of War. Sorry for my rant.
- bagboyrebel, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4I totally thought the ship would make it.
- Evilblobs, on 08/08/2008, -0/+4Or star wars.
460 million in '77 - inactive, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3Most movie based video games are crap anyway. It would've slightly tarnished the movie if I ever saw Joker in "bad video game" quality
- nrose101, on 08/08/2008, -3/+6The mummy is doing better overseas? How can anyone like that garbage?
http://www.flickdirect.com/movies/movie-reviews-de ... - ryan83189, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3I could submit a picture of a piece of *****, and insist that it was a prop from The Dark Knight in the title and make FP in 2 seconds.
- w00master, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3There's a stat that neither Titanic nor Dark Knight has broken yet: Total Number of Tickets sold.
Not dollars, but number of actual tickets. This title still is held by "Gone with the Wind." - ShadowofAres, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4dead meme is dead.
- juniorb, on 08/08/2008, -4/+7Titanic was in theaters for FOUR MONTHS. That was before the studios began pulling movies as soon as attendance dipped to get them out on DVD sooner. If the Dark Knight is still in theaters in November, then we'll talk.
- Cerebral, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3I replied earlier with the same comments... I don't understand how they can rank by dollars considering inflation and ticket prices. Where are attendance numbers? You think Disney doesn't go by attendance numbers and instead relies entirely on how much money they made selling tickets? You're off your rocker!
- leexy, on 08/08/2008, -1/+4Because it's one of the few good movies to come out of Hollywood recently. So, of course, everybody went ***** about it. It's for the general public. Anyone with two brain cells can get the plot. It doesn't use big words fast cars, explosions, an excellent cast, the sexy girl, the dreamy boy, an easily recognized character and very good marketing surrounding it.
Despite that, I find it shameful that it has overtaken the best of all times on IMDB. - juniorb, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3You can bury me, but I'm still right. Titanic came out 10 years ago, before DVD's were such a goldmine. DVD's are responsible for an industry-wide dip in ticket sales which has influenced drastically shorter runs in theaters. What's to bury?
- Cerebral, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3I have a question about how all this box office dollars stuff works. I mean Titanic is #1 with $601M but that movie came out in 1997. If I remember correctly it was only about $4 - $5 to see a movie in 1997. I believe it is about $10 now days to see a movie (part of the reasons I will not go).
So looking at that math (and the real numbers from yahoo). If we look at Titanic @ $5 they sold 120,157,638 tickets whereas if we look at Batman @ $8 (yes less than $10 just for comparison) they only sold 50,712,467 tickets. NOT EVEN HALF!
I'm sorry but that should be what they really look at is tickets sold not $$$ they sold in tickets. If that really is the case then technically someone could make a dumb movie called "Balls Man" and release it in one theater and charge $1B to see and get 800 people to come see it and lead the charts. Dumb... and yes I know that isn't likely to happen but you get my point. - atommotherheart, on 08/08/2008, -0/+32 thru 6 are irrelevant.
2. You can consider any country for the greatest revenue at the box office. Why only mention New Zealand? There must be tens of countries that also fit this spot.
3. Simply not valid because The Dark Knight hasn't completed its run at the box office. If it's not fact, why mention it in a top 6 list?
4. Most movies made into videogames are crap. It's not necessarily lost revenue as it also costs them to make a game. What? Did they think games drop from trees?
5. Why would any movie want to be the most expensive movie made? There's less profit for a more expensive movie...
6. Very glad Prince was not involved in The Dark Knight. You can say any composer or artist was missing in this movie as in the past Batman movies.
This list sucks... - polalion, on 08/08/2008, -0/+3You forgot Harry Gregson-Williams.
- trixyfox, on 08/08/2008, -1/+3dark knight isnt out in europe yet. august 13th. so yea, worldwide may be a little low as of now, but just wait a week
