- Cowboy1015, on 07/24/2008, -8/+190Weak marketing. I didn't even know it's coming out this weekend.
- SRSco, on 07/25/2008, -10/+91I hope Xzibit pimps Scully's ride.
- mickstephenson, on 07/25/2008, -11/+71I care because is not a comic book movie for once, thank *****.
- GQCarrick, on 07/25/2008, -5/+56If they had released it closer to when the show was actually over, it would be HUGE, but the show ended in 2002, 6 years is a long time.
- UnlnvlslblE, on 07/25/2008, -5/+50I'm going to see it tonight. I still believe!
- Scaley, on 07/24/2008, -5/+46I've been looking forward to this coming out for a while now but the article is dead on (unfortunately) about the lack of buzz and virtual no media attention. Personally I think it looks like it is going to be great! But I'm going to cross my fingers and hope that it isn't another blunder like the last few seasons of this otherwise great show (IMHO) and that it puts some much needed life back into the franchise. I'd like to see this movie as the seed for more in the future as a fan and not as the final coffin in the show's history. Either way it is nice to have more X-files after the shows' somewhat anti-climatic series finally (again, personal opinion).
- alpha19, on 07/25/2008, -10/+49Buried for a stupid ass title. Obviously people care that the movie is coming out, and obviously you don't. Woopdee doo...
- iDiggYa, on 07/24/2008, -12/+41This movie is being released just a little too late?
- imLissy, on 07/24/2008, -8/+33So very true. Though I do care. I care for one reason. I've waited for years to see Mulder and Scully together. One shipper scene, that's all I ask for.
- dnields, on 07/25/2008, -3/+28A good portion of the Digg crowd weren't even born yet when the X-Files TV show started.
- RudeTurnip, on 07/25/2008, -13/+29There's another X-Files movie coming out?
- Rippleeffect, on 07/25/2008, -3/+19Its been advertised on TV here for the past three weeks. I guess the Digg crowd doesn't watch much anymore.
- Bukowsky, on 07/25/2008, -4/+16yea, I think so too. A few years ago, they could've really pumped some hype into this.... but now, especially following The Dark Knight, it's gonna bottom-out.
- fletcher008, on 07/25/2008, -4/+16Im actually pretty excited to see it. Sure, the marketing wasnt the strongest push of a movie this summer (you couldnt throw a dead cat without hitting some sort of TDK marketing) but im pretty sure it will do well just based on the already established fan base. It is pretty late, but after the first X-files movie, the bitter aftertaste had to dissipate. That being said, TDK will own all movies again this weekend.
- aenima987, on 07/25/2008, -5/+16Don't resize my ***** browser, jeez.
- SpectralSounds, on 07/24/2008, -8/+19I knew it was coming out, but I didn't care when.
- mickstephenson, on 07/25/2008, -2/+13She is still just as hot
- CalvinMonk, on 07/25/2008, -5/+16Conspiracy?
- pe5t1lence, on 07/25/2008, -3/+13We have the internets!
- frepnog, on 07/25/2008, -5/+14no, not really. it is a good movie and all, but it isn't the next coming of christ. it's a goddamn superhero movie with a very good actor in it who happens to be dead now. honestly, if someone else was the joker, it wouldn't even raise that many eyebrows.
it's a good movie.
that's it.
it did not raise any bars, it simply shows that you can do a serious superhero movie. - adveyes, on 07/25/2008, -2/+9I now pronounce you husband and wife.
- sultanica, on 07/25/2008, -8/+16mighty pretentious and self centered with the opinions there
- explnx, on 04/27/2009, -2/+9Did you stop watching the show halfway through?
Spoiler:
ybab s'redluM sah yllucS - FrizzleyFry, on 07/25/2008, -2/+8Scully is a cougar.
- redlantern64, on 07/25/2008, -4/+10Main reason no one cares: any X-Files movie that comes out and doesn't even pretend to address the finale's impending alien colonization just has FAIL stamped all over it.
- dnields, on 07/25/2008, -4/+9You mean raised the bar for hyping cinema.
- iamghost, on 07/25/2008, -4/+9I saw it last night. If it wasn't for my love for Anderson and Duchovny i probably would have left the theater. I've seen better episodes of X-Files. It was anti-climatic. You don't find anything useful or interesting out about the plot. It was horrible. At least we have a couple good seasons we can watch on DVD though.
It was also a bad idea to release this movie the weekend after Dark Knight and also on a weekend with a Will Farrell movie.
watch Cailifornication - Elranzer, on 07/25/2008, -5/+10I'll give you The Dark Knight, but a Will Farrell movie these days is about as funny as a random episode of Mind of Mencia.
- Digscuttle, on 07/25/2008, -4/+9It's about 8 years late for those two to be kissing! It's like catching your mom and dad kissing when you're a kid. GROSS!
If they faked it for the trailer, that's even more annoying because I saw that trailer, and in no uncertain terms, THEY WERE KISSING. - ShyGuy91284, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8Ditto. Other than word of mouth from a friend that it was coming out this summer and a single commercial I saw last night, I have seen nothing.
- jsd8cc, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8They're two completely different shows...
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -3/+8Me too, but Duchovny's already said that that doesn't happen. The shots in the trailer of them almost kissing were fake and made to psyche out fans.
- chr00t, on 07/25/2008, -4/+9It was still on in 2k2? I thought its was over way before that.
- whereisian, on 07/25/2008, -5/+9But you're quite charming
- felsoule79, on 07/25/2008, -4/+8I don't see how the author can speak for everyone? I for one am really excited for this movie...
- scarymuffin, on 07/25/2008, -0/+5***** you guys, I'm seeing it in 30 minutes.
- ZephyrNinety, on 07/25/2008, -5/+9I do.
- MacGyver2210, on 07/25/2008, -2/+5If not hotter. Long blond hair? Yes please...
- everfresh59, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6Gillian Anderson is ***** hotness!!!!
- JonGalt, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6Going to see it in 1 hour.....***** reviews. I decide for myself.
- thcanalichio, on 07/25/2008, -4/+7buried for hating on xfiles fans and gillian anderson.
i will see this movie, and i'm guessing the backed-off marketing was a calculated response to the hype of The Dark Night. sometimes a movie like this goes for the long and steady. or maybe it will flop. either way, your top 5 reasons were pretty "old hat" bad review. - Merkidemis, on 07/25/2008, -2/+6I am a fan of the X-Files in general, thought the first movie was amusing, and was looking forward to seeing the second until I saw the trailers. Now, I know that the trailers don't reflect the whole movie, but the impression I got from it was "they get back together and then there's a creepy guy who tells them how to find a girl trapped in the ice." Hopefully there is more to it then that, but it really didn't do anything to entice me to go.
- shutaro, on 07/25/2008, -3/+6Well, most people stopped watching it long before that.
- yourshorter, on 07/25/2008, -0/+4I CARE ABOUT IT!
- je12u, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4Whenever I see "TDK" I think of my old cassette mixtapes.
- pe5t1lence, on 07/25/2008, -2/+4I do.
- Landlocked, on 07/25/2008, -9/+1199% of movies that feature a rapper trying to act SUCK. Nuff said.
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 07/25/2008, -4/+6The X-Files is a cult show. It had a very strong and devoted fanbase (myself included) that held it aloft for so long. The fact has always seemed to be that the general public really didn't enjoy X-Files that much. It's sad, too. It reminds me of Firefly and Serenity. When Serenity came out the only buzz was from the cult following of Whedon's Firefly. Both are remarkable productions but they just couldn't quite get the buzz they needed to stay aloft. I'm simply amazed that they were able to get a studio to support a second X-Files and can only hope we see a second Serenity (I'd be part of that following as well)
- fivo7, on 07/25/2008, -0/+3no one cares, then why is he writing a whole article about it,
seems he does care, how sweet -
