- xt0xicx, on 07/15/2008, -8/+112I'll give you one reason, Katie Holmes isn't in there.. her acting was pretty bad in the first film.. im glad they replaced her with a better actress.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/16/2008, -4/+101Two words:
The Joker.
Yes. - mecharabbit, on 07/16/2008, -4/+61Katie Holmes, after her Scientology brainwash, is about as charismatic as a brick wall. I'd still f*** her, though.
- eTronicGaming, on 07/16/2008, -9/+45Reason 6 - Heath Ledger
- albrad84, on 07/16/2008, -3/+34I've gotta disagree with #4. I thought the origin story was one the most compelling things about Batman Begins. In my opinion, the first half of the movie was just as interesting as the second half, if not more so.
- Clugenheim, on 07/16/2008, -8/+33... is the movie even out yet? And we're already saying it's better?
I TOTALLY AGREE! YAYAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 - fugazied, on 07/16/2008, -0/+18I just re-watched Batman Begins. If its BETTER than that, I'll be very impressed. Batman begins is one of the best super hero films ever imo.
- Tyrghast, on 07/16/2008, -2/+19"Katie Holmes is a nice, wholesome girl... and I'm gonna see her *****!"
"So how were Katie Holmes *****?" "Remember the Holocaust? Imagine the exact opposite." - AlxRymnd914, on 07/16/2008, -6/+18I hate articles like this. Can we just wait until the film comes out and see for ourselves? Do we need people to point the reasons out for us?
- warsongs7, on 07/16/2008, -0/+12Will probably become Ledger's most memorable performance.
- sonicularulus, on 07/16/2008, -0/+11IMAX!
- CornelisonRC, on 07/16/2008, -5/+15"2. Less Bruce Wayne, more Batman"
well.. obviously. Of course Batman Begins is going to be about how Batman more or less Begins, as a regular ass person.
smart thinking, Josh Tyler. - keithnoir, on 07/16/2008, -1/+10I have seen it and I will tell you...
1. Joker
2. IMAX
3. Its a full hour longer
4. More realistic
5. Back Story has been established - LucasVB, on 07/16/2008, -3/+11So true. Also, Maggie Gyllenhal looks like the perfect actress for the role.
- DanMiller, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8I watched the movie tonight at an employee screening for our theater. It is an outstanding performance. Not Oscar worthy but it is really really good. He was an actor who showed promise and great skill in a few roles, let people be excited for an actor whose hopeful career was cut short.
- Darksoul, on 07/16/2008, -1/+8Buried for being another useless idiot.
- mecharabbit, on 07/16/2008, -2/+9The great appeal of superhero movies is that there are great supervillains. Usually, cops and FBI agents are enough to deal with normal criminals, but supervillains require a superhero to take care of them. Kudos to movie-makers who show that extreme evil can be overcome by extreme good.
- ahmedb07, on 07/16/2008, -0/+7ur a disgrace.
- ripple123, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6Batman couldn't be batman without the joker. Hes the perfect counterpoint, the insane light to the dark shadow of batman. And you cant have shadow without light.
- Discobiscuits, on 07/16/2008, -0/+6ur a towel.
- davincih, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5He has seen it. Go look at http://www.cinemablend.com, he has a review up of it.
- zeabu, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5I don't know about yours, but my dick is bigger than Tome Cruise's.
- halfabean, on 07/16/2008, -0/+5i really wonder if heath ledger had died during 'brokeback mountain' if anyone would have gave a *****.
- bossywalker, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4I'm seeing it tonight! It's out today in Australia!!!! Just under 7 hours to go.
- Darksoul, on 07/16/2008, -2/+6Why the ***** would you want to waste your first viewing of this awesome movie on some ***** cam version. I will never understand why some people will sit and watch those ***** cam versions of new movies instead of actually paying to go see the movie. And no I do believe in BT downloading but not for movies that just hit the theaters come on if you like the movie pay to see it in the theater then download it but after that buy the ***** dvd or blue-ray movie. Stop being a bunch of cheep ***** seriously.
- jordanlgta, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4Terrific film. Deserves more credit.
- megamod, on 07/16/2008, -1/+5Xenu should've been batman.
- skingers, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4That scene was practically lifted exactly from Frank Miller's "Batman Year 1" - it's canon can't fault that.
- alexkball, on 07/16/2008, -0/+4"...he just can’t compare to Heath Ledger’s iconic, amazing, mind-bending performance as The Joker"
I'd say I was more right than I was wrong. - CuntryBoner, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4My question is how can Heath Ledger kill himself on accident with a bad mix of scripts, but Owen Wilson actually tries to O'D and he's still alive. Owen Wilson: Failure at acting, having a nose, killing himself, and life in general.
- cadmiumpaint, on 07/16/2008, -1/+4whats funny is that you're eagerly awaiting a crappy cam version of an epic movie. Have fun trying to follow the dialogue.
leave your house, pay a few bucks...you might actually enjoy yourself. - laughandsing, on 07/16/2008, -2/+5Some people actually liked his work in his other movies. No I'm not talking about Broke back mountain...but the Patriot? That was an awesome movie....just as well as a knights tale. I'm glad that you think you're cool putting down a dead guy. I hope it makes you feel better.
- NoahK, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3You've heard of porn, yes?
- Dermah, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3@boo3710 He didn't spoil anything. Watch the movie.
- DanMiller, on 07/16/2008, -0/+3You should check it out, hype is well earned in this case.
- NoahK, on 07/16/2008, -1/+3So I'm guessing The Joker doesn't come back for a sequel?
- ReeferChiefer42, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2While I somewhat agree with you, you're missing the point. This article isn't meant for you and me, who already really want to see this movie; it is meant for those who aren't quite sure if they want to see it yet, whether it's because they didn't like Batman Begins very much or any other reason.
- fugazied, on 07/16/2008, -2/+4he actually had some skill as an actor. Roles like the knight movie (whatever the hell that was called) were obviously crap but his other work did show he was a decent actor.
- megamod, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Sure he had great movies before but he was never provided with such a great character to fill.
For example: A Knight's tale (no, not the black knight you're thinking of), Casanova (hopeless romanticist), Lords of Dogtown (skater bum), the patriot (Automatically ruined bc drunk jew hater), and I'm pretty sure there are other major roles I'm missing but none of these roles really gave him a chance to shine until now. - NoahK, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2You suck.
- keithnoir, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I have seen it, and it is better... And by the reviews by fans, i think everyone is save to assume it is...
- mooseofshadows, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I'm pretty sure I'll be sad at the general lack of Cillian Murphy (I know he makes a cameo) but other than that, I'm sure it will be far better.
- xEn1gma, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Now you're learning.
- fugazied, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2So damn true. After a recent re-watch of batman begins, the only flaw I saw in the casting was her. At some points she did a good job, but mostly just under-performed. I guess she was landed the role because she was 'hot' after Dawsons creek or whatever.
- MtheoryX, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I disagree. I feel the choice was well founded, and presumably well executed.
The franchise has spent more than enough time playing around with the Joker character.
I think a better direction would be to develop and expose the second tier villains and more obscure characters in the franchise. - japanesepagoda, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2****Alley
You watch your god damn mouth. - BiistMaster, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I saw this on IMAX at the advance screening last night in NYC. It does not disappoint. Balls-to-the-wall awesome.
- malfourmed, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2I was captivated by the first half of Batman Begins, ie the origin story. The movie fell apart a bit once it moved into "blockbuster" mode. Say, give it a 9 for the first half and a 6 or 7 for the second.
In contrast, The Dark Knight is more evenly paced, more like a solid 8 throughout. There's only one gimmicky tech sequence that's a bit too "scifi" for my taste and one lame predictable twist. But there's also one unexpectedly brutal - and in retrospect inevitable - plot development. Both involve members of the supporting cast.
Not sure if the best bits of TDK filled me with the same sense of excitement as the best bits of BB but overall it's a better movie with a surprisingly hard edge. It's a shame that Nolan couldn't have taken the gloves off and gone for a more adult rating, but I guess the franchise (and commercial considerations) wouldn't allow that.
And definitely agree that the quality of the villains have a lot to do with its artistic success. Eckhart gives a good performance and Ledger a very good one. - CuntryBoner, on 07/16/2008, -0/+2Consider this:
Maggie Gyllenhall is Jake Gyllenhall's sister.
Maggie and Heath Ledger are both in Dark Night.
Jake Gyllenhall ***** Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain.
Heath Ledger is dead.
Conspiracy? - colosis, on 07/16/2008, -3/+5cuz its the dark ***** knight
