50 Movies That All Guys Should See Before They Die
movies.popcrunch.com — Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but here's a modern guide for films in the past 20 years. The movies in this list are pretty much everything that chick flicks are not. It ’s not necessarily about an award-winning film...It’s about the elements that make up a guy movie.

I'm gonna get some of these soon!- jcm267, on 03/27/2008, -2/+14Horrible List. Buried as lame.
- yohnstoppable, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4This comment reminds me of a bad actor in an infomercial.
"I totally use oxyclean! It harnesses the power of the water I drink and the oxygen i breathe to eliminate stains!" - XxtraLarGe, on 03/27/2008, -2/+8Some of the movies are good, but seriously, Face/Off???
- XxtraLarGe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Furthermore, how is "Unforgiven" in the top 10, but "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" nowhere to be found on that list. Did I just happen to miss it?
- ApplCmptrDood, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Was I the only one that thought "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" was an extreme bore?
- FiremanJersey, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Missing Leon (The Professional)? What kind of guy movie list is this? The Professional is a fantastic action packed guy movie!
- TommyTubesteak, on 03/28/2008, -0/+0...yeah, and where the hell was Beaches!
- Zervas, on 03/27/2008, -27/+104Speed and Million Dollar Baby are not good movies.
- zephyr42, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5True but the list doesn't say "50 Great Movies All Guys Should See!!!"
- cawpin, on 03/27/2008, -17/+1First, both Speed and Million Dollar Baby are good movies. Second, Fight Club and Trainspotting are not. How can you have a list of "guy movies" and not have one Dirty Harry flick? Hello? Dead Pool? Yeah.
- shredswithpiks, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4ohgod. really?
- appletoapple, on 03/27/2008, -0/+5Who doesn't like Fight Club? Them's fightin' words!
- itsthebrod, on 03/27/2008, -2/+7You enjoy Million Dollar Baby yet dislike Fight Club? You're officially a woman.
- verivalta, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2I as a woman take exception to that. Fight Club is one of my all-time favorite movies.
- cawpin, on 03/27/2008, -17/+1First, both Speed and Million Dollar Baby are good movies. Second, Fight Club and Trainspotting are not. How can you have a list of "guy movies" and not have one Dirty Harry flick? Hello? Dead Pool? Yeah.
- daRoach, on 03/27/2008, -1/+14The credibility of this list has been compromised. Hot Fuzz is on the list but no Shawn of the Dead?
- laola1, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1It's in the top 10 Guy-Fi Movies.
- phenom2k7, on 03/27/2008, -7/+1Both were *****, so stfu noob.
- kiwiboyus, on 03/27/2008, -2/+18Million Dollar Baby was a great movie up to the end,. OMG how f**king depressing was THAT? That movie is a oncer, I could never sit through that again knowing what happens.
- undy242, on 03/27/2008, -5/+2Neither was Lucky Number Slevin or American gangster. "ME MAN, ME LIKE GUNS ND EXPLOSION!"
- zzzpoohzzz, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5i had a bigger problem with crank being in the top 10 (or on the list at all) than those 2
- Nerfdude, on 03/27/2008, -3/+6read: 50 movies that all guys should torrent in the next week or something
- Stormwern, on 03/27/2008, -1/+9it sais "movies of the last 20 years", so godfather and indiana jones are out. Putting million dollar baby in and not the Matrix is pretty retarded though
- Avaseal, on 03/27/2008, -3/+1The Godfather (well..Part 1 and 2 at least) still deserves to be on there
- Impeller, on 03/27/2008, -1/+16Speed sucks... Million Dollar is a must watch, Eastwood is a genius in direction, IMO.
- Dundasbro, on 03/27/2008, -0/+5Million Dollar Baby for everyone who hasn't seen it is not the corny, rags to riches fight against the odds feel good movie of the year like its title suggests. That movie is ***** depressing.
- SwingCorey, on 03/28/2008, -0/+3These are not good movies because they limited the list to the last 20 years, thereby cutting out the greatest 10-year period of filmmaking: 1972-1981
The Godfather (1972)
The Sting (1973)
The Godfather II (1974)
Young Frankenstein (1974)
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Jaws (1975)
Rocky (1976)
Star Wars (1977)
Animal House (1978)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Alien (1979)
Airplane! (1980)
Caddyshack (1980)
Empire Strikes Back (1980)
The Blues Brothers (1980)
Stripes (1981)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
You can't say "Movies EVERY Guy Should Watch", and then discount classics, just because you weren't born yet...
- zephyr42, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5True but the list doesn't say "50 Great Movies All Guys Should See!!!"
- Majicman, on 03/27/2008, -9/+151No Indiana Jones?! WTF?
- noots, on 03/27/2008, -1/+13indeed, no Godfather, Man on fire (criminally underrated imo) and judging by the organized crime theme they have, Layer Cake seems an odd exclusion.
nice to see Lucky number slevin there, such a good film.- Nerfdude, on 03/27/2008, -3/+2man on fire looks like it was filmed by michael j fox. like, now. i don't like getting motion sickness from watching a movie.
- noots, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2it's filmed no worse (if not better) than the bourne series.
- Nerfdude, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2that's not a good thing.
- noots, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1hey it could be worse. Blairwitch comes to mind.
- noots, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2it's filmed no worse (if not better) than the bourne series.
- Radan, on 03/27/2008, -2/+1Actually, I thought it was a good thing that they didn't list The Godfather. EVERYONE lists that movie. For once, this was a list that mostly mentions newer "movies that are great but not really talked about because they didn't reach a legendary status among the masses", like for example Revolver, Collateral or Lucky Number Sleven. Aright, then there's 300 which ruin this theory completely (shut up!), but either way, I got to say that the guy who wrote this list got a very good taste in movies.
- thecrazyd, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Slevin was crap. Nice style, but a stupid and easily predictable story.
- Nerfdude, on 03/27/2008, -3/+2man on fire looks like it was filmed by michael j fox. like, now. i don't like getting motion sickness from watching a movie.
- ngmcs8203, on 03/27/2008, -2/+5Really?... Probably doesn't have Starship Troopers either. Will have to confirm, but if no Indy no sexy shower scenes and space aliens I guess.
- jim3008, on 03/27/2008, -5/+9no rocky or rambo, come on...
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2"Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but our list is a modern guide (past 20 years)."
Only The Last Crusade was made within the 20 years.- warriorscot, on 03/27/2008, -2/+4Which happens to be the most kick ass Indiana Jones film.
- Soave, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1Well, that's true. But from what I remember, they didn't have any sequels on the list, so I don't know.
- warriorscot, on 03/27/2008, -2/+4Which happens to be the most kick ass Indiana Jones film.
- GoneGreen, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2No "Jay and Silent Bob" either...
- NinjaBear, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1No Tombstone? Fail.
- noots, on 03/27/2008, -1/+13indeed, no Godfather, Man on fire (criminally underrated imo) and judging by the organized crime theme they have, Layer Cake seems an odd exclusion.
- TEHxINTERWEBS, on 03/27/2008, -30/+84How the flying ***** did Crank get top 10? That movie was like dragging your dick through a mile of broken glass!.
- jlbarber, on 03/27/2008, -13/+37Crank isn't the best movie out there but it was pretty damn entertaining.
- punkcat, on 03/27/2008, -4/+10no, 2 miles
- Llanowar, on 03/27/2008, -3/+6Well, all guys should experience that.
- supertom2, on 03/27/2008, -5/+8i didn't even read the list after i say a picture of Crank on the first page
- zzzpoohzzz, on 03/27/2008, -2/+5i wish i had been as wise as you...
when i saw that at no. 10 i had to say out loud "are you ***** kidding me?"
- zzzpoohzzz, on 03/27/2008, -2/+5i wish i had been as wise as you...
- UbIwerks, on 03/27/2008, -4/+6Oh man, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought so!
It was like a bunch of film students saw 'Snatch' and were like "Hey! We can do that!" Terrible. - BigPapi, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1I didn't think it was the greatest movie, but there were some really funny scenes. I definitely wouldn't pick it over Rocky or any of the other 30 movies that deserved to be on this list though.
- mortigon, on 03/27/2008, -2/+7Of course Crank sucked, it was supposed to be stupid. It was the most entertaining stupid movie I've ever seen though.
- runamok, on 03/27/2008, -2/+7I think Crank deserves bonus points for having public doggy style sex in front of a bus full of Japanese tourists. But maybe that's just me.
- asnider, on 03/27/2008, -3/+2Honestly, that was about the only entertaining scene in the entire movie. However, as hilariously awesome as it was, it's not enough to save the movie from being a complete *****.
- asnider, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Yeah, Crank is a ***** terrible movie. I can't believe it was number 10. Having said that, I haven't seen all of the movies on that list, but I'd agree that most (though not all) of the ones I have seen deserve to be on the list.
- firebert69, on 03/28/2008, -0/+0which only a real man would be able to do
- doublebummer, on 03/28/2008, -0/+111. Goodfellas (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/goodfellas/?critic ...
10. Crank (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/crank/?critic=crea ...
- meltingrobot, on 03/27/2008, -12/+45Hustle & Flow? Joyride?!?!?! I don't ***** think so. You couldn't pay me to watch that crap.
- jemka, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Everyone has a price.
- MaynardJK, on 03/27/2008, -6/+14Hustle & Flow was great.
- antibastard, on 03/27/2008, -4/+7so you're saying you haven't seen them. brilliant critiques.
- Impeller, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Joyride is plain bat *****.
- AnonymousDigger, on 03/28/2008, -0/+0I can't watch Joyride because of the hospital scene where the guy got his jaw riped off.
- bobbysarcletti, on 03/27/2008, -1/+95i got slightly sidetracked by the link to the 50 hottest women of sports on that page.
- mixxo, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Same here, what was this post about again..........
- thebuggalo, on 03/27/2008, -6/+31someone has a hard-on for QT. and why is Crank even in this list?
- alpha19, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4QT always looked ... slightly mentally challenged when I see him on awards shows and such. Maybe that's the explanation for some of his wacky ideas? I like some of his films... but the newer ones are turning in to junk unfortunately.
- SwingCorey, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1some QT films are pretty good. What I don't get is the love affair with Guy Ritchie. Is the author a closet Madonna fan?
And what about the man-crush on Jason Statham? I mean, "The Transporter" was an alright file (interesting, even), but come ON! Enough already...
- hydroplane, on 03/27/2008, -1/+56With ***** filter on, the title reads: Arbitrary list of 50 movies of no apparent significance.
- manirock, on 03/27/2008, -36/+4FACEOFF?! You're suggesting that people SHOULD see Face Off before we die and Pulp Fiction wasn't on the list?!
- stgwilli, on 03/27/2008, -0/+23Pulp Fiction is #1 on the list.

1. Pulp Fiction- Radan, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2Ah! This is the first time I've seen anyone write about the movie "Revolver" without bashing it to smithereens. I highly recommend seeing it! Don't get fooled by the name or the cover, or the overall bad reviews for that matter. While it does feature some shooting it's nothing like any other action/thriller out there. It's a very clever movie with lots of witty dialogue and revolves highly around the control that the human ego has over us. This is a typical love or hate movie which features a mountain of philosophical and psychological messages and a story which is to some very troublesome to follow and it frequently jumps around in the timeline where you sometimes will be shown scenes before they have actually happened. (e.g. first you see the characters' reaction and then five minutes later you see what they are reaction to).
Another movie that I also really recommend is "The Fountain" which revolves around the fear of death and a very touching story of a man having trouble accepting the fact that everyone and everything will have to eventually die. - donkz, on 03/27/2008, -2/+2this could be cut to top 15 easily. The only movie they got right is #1 - Pulp fiction. Some hits here and there like heat, reservour dogs, and fight club(and some more), but the rest is junk
- ahthrift, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2The Last King of Scotland is a ***** fantastic movie too, I cant believe its not on the list.
- revansii, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Goodfellas but no Casino....what gives...stupid list.
- antdude, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Thank you for the list.
- SwingCorey, on 03/29/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry, but I've got to disagree with nearly all of this list, mostly because you can't make a list of "Guy Movies" and then limit it to just the last 20 years.
From the last 20 years, the best I can do is these 20:
1. Die Hard (1988) - action, explosions, mayhem, and one of the top 5 best movie villains ever: Hans Grüber.
2. Matrix, The (1999) - 8 years after T2, they finally made a movie to blow your mind and your sense of what movies can do
3. Fugitive, The (1993) - cat-and-mouse chase through Chicago where you're rooting for both sides
4. Dumb & Dumber (1994) - buddy, road-trip movie... with morons
5. Hunt for Red October, The (1990) - still the best Tom Clancy movie to date
6. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) - a sport about degradation and humiliation (w/ Vince Vaughn & Ben Stiller)
7. Reservoir Dogs (1992) - IMHO, the best Tarrantino film (yes, better than "Pulp Fiction")
8. Serenity (2005) - what every "Star Wars" prequel *should* have been like
9. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) - since no other "Indy" films fit the time frame
10. Casino Royale (2006) - best Bond movie since "Goldfinger" or "Dr. No"
11. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) - the start of Will Ferrell's box office dominance
12. Braveheart (1995) - kick-@ss battle scenes that "Gladiator" tried to match
13. Happy Gilmore (1996) - because Caddyshack isn't here
14. Hot Shots! (1991) - it's "Top Gun" by the makers of "Airplane!"
15. Midnight Run (1988) - the ultimate "buddy, road-trip" movie
16. Swingers (1996) - guys in L.A. trying to score... definition of "guy" movie
17. Goodfellas (1990) - because "The Godfather" movies (the good ones) didn't make the time frame
18. Transformers (2007) - cars that becoming giant fighting robots... with a couple hot chicks thrown in for good measure
19. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) - like "Wayne's World" or "Beavis & Butthead" but with time travel
20. Shaun of the Dead (2004) - British braaaiiins....
- Radan, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2Ah! This is the first time I've seen anyone write about the movie "Revolver" without bashing it to smithereens. I highly recommend seeing it! - Spanq, on 03/27/2008, -2/+37Crap. You just pulled a tidbit or two from each movie off IMDB. Buried.
- ravamp3, on 03/27/2008, -13/+2Off-topic, but ehh, does anyone else think salesgenie.com SUCKS MAJOR BALLS?!
- garf83, on 03/27/2008, -7/+45No Shoot 'Em Up?
- Ageroth, on 03/27/2008, -8/+19that movie was so unbelievably bad it became entertaining just watching all the retarded ***** they did.
and seriously, what the ***** was with the carrots?- pedo, on 03/27/2008, -2/+14i wouldn't say it was bad. more like ridiculous but very entertaining.
- yohnstoppable, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10For me it was a movie I've wanted for a long time. A movie that pushed over the top to levels unreached while being a fun movie with great atmosphere. It was what I was hoping for when I went to see Crank and Smokin Aces. It is what Transporter 2 attempted to be, but failed at.
I mean he has shoot outs while delivering a baby, skydiving, and having sex. He shoots out the ambilical cord after delivering the baby. He kills 2 different guys with carrots. And that isn't even the half of it. It isn't for everyone, but if you are a fan of over the top, cheesy, b movies you'll love it - ishotthedoor, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6The point of the carrots was that it was a live-action cartoon. Clive Owen was Bugs Bunny and Paul Giamatti was Elmer Fudd. I mean look at Giamatti, he was so Elmer Fudd. I'm pretty sure Owen even said "What's up doc?" at one point.
- yohnstoppable, on 03/27/2008, -2/+10There once was a woman who was quite begat. She had three babies named Nat, Pat, and Tat. She said it was fun in the breeding, but found it was hell in the feeding when she saw there was no tit for Tat.
- mac0Fd00m, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5I second that! Not sure how it's possible, but that movie was at the same time one of the worst and best movies I have ever seen. Highly recommend it.
- Ageroth, on 03/27/2008, -8/+19that movie was so unbelievably bad it became entertaining just watching all the retarded ***** they did.
- frogman54, on 03/27/2008, -4/+32They need to make a porn version of this list.

Hey look, I'm popcrunch.com's 10,000th visitor!! It even says "this is not a joke" which means it's legit. Haha suckers. - tdogg241, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1What's worse is their list of "54 Celebrity Trainwrecks" that they managed to put on 55 ***** pages - one page for each "trainwreck" (some of which are arguably not celebrities) and one page to rule them all!
Congratulations Popcrunch. Your bizarre level of greed and shoddy writing have ensured I'll be avoiding your site from this day forward.
- BinaryFragger, on 03/27/2008, -0/+8For more ad revenue, of course.

Carpenter's The Thing
Alien & Aliens
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Evil Dead (especially ED II)
Apocalypse Now
Any list that thinks it's more important for someone to watch Crank or Lucky Number Slevin as opposed to any of these (plus tons more I can think of) can lick balls.

- rezerox, on 03/27/2008, -3/+23horrible list. i cant take it seriously because crank is on there. the majority of these films are not influential at ALL. a list of "movies to see before you die" should contain films that set a precedence, impact a genre, or at the very least contain something meme worthy. ugh pass on this list.

Looks like the list is biased to movies released after the 80s.- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6"Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but our list is a modern guide (past 20 years)."

- emalen, on 03/27/2008, -2/+2why is it so hard for people to rtfa?
- RevoltPuppy, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3C'mon, nobody reads the article introduction. When we're presented with a list, we read the list.
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6"Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but our list is a modern guide (past 20 years)."
- schoepsMS, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2I must be leaving this world soon.
- madchedar0, on 03/27/2008, -6/+39This list must have been made by a 14 year old. No Godfather? Buried as lame.
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -1/+9"Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but our list is a modern guide (past 20 years)."
Godfather was '72.- splobk, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2There were sequels..
- emalen, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1II was in 1974, and III wasn't as good
- splobk, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2There were sequels..
- tdogg241, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Which is basically saying "movies more than 20 years old aren't worth watching for today's men."
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -1/+9"Classic movies like Bullit, Easy Rider, The French Connection, amongst others, are guy movies, but our list is a modern guide (past 20 years)."
- f4nt0m4s, on 03/27/2008, -5/+18I think Casino Royale is a weak Bond choice fs this is really a list of movies that "all guys should see." Don't get me wrong, Casino Royale was a great action movie, and it was definitely a redeeming step in the right direction for a series that became a parody of itself, but Sean Connery is James Bond. Daniel Craig is one badass dude, but no one can balance the charm, charisma, wit and intelligence of Bond like Mr. Sean Connery. Dr. No, From Russia With Love, and Goldfinger are all much better candidates for a manly must-see Bond film.
This list is bogus, it has a bunch of over rated crap films like Gladiator and Natural Born Killers (go ahead, dig me down), and a bunch of just plain bad films like Face Off and Speed.
And 300 is an ironic choice...maybe a little too manly.- antibastard, on 03/27/2008, -1/+6read the books. hard as it may be to admit, craig is the better bond.
- jezsik, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Very true! (Sorry to go off on a tangent here.) The only other Bond to come close to the written version was Timothy Dalton. Fleming described Bond as having a cruel look about him.
- asnider, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4I have to agree. I know a lot of people who hated Casino Royale because Bond was "too rough" and "not classy enough." But, Craig's Bond was the closest to the Bond that Fleming intended.
- BigW, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I agree completely. My Bond vote would be for Goldfinger. And as for Natural Born Killers, what an awful movie. If there were any real men in that movie it would have been real short because someone would have had the common sense not to drop their guns and just shoot it out with the killers.
- IncogMosqui, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4... so, out of the last 20 years (as that's what this list includes) what would you pick? The Living Daylights? Goldeneye? Tomorrow Never Dies? The World is not Enough? Die Another Day?
Timothy Dalton is a joke. The only one on that list that could possibly hold a candle to Casino Royale would be Goldeneye. - warriorscot, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Sean connery was a long time ago so I dont think he would make the list and of all the modern bonds craig is as good as the others and Casino royale was very good as a bond film I liked the return to slightly gritier storylines ala connery era rather than the slightly slapstick moore films.
- antibastard, on 03/27/2008, -1/+6read the books. hard as it may be to admit, craig is the better bond.
- matthewdestroys, on 03/27/2008, -4/+14the big lebowski should be number one.
- MutatedNantuko, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Forget about the ***** toe!
- invisiblehat, on 03/27/2008, -8/+5This is stereotype *****. My superCool gf loves some of these so-called 'guy movies' (at least the ones that don't suck). There are plenty of cool chics out there into violent, adrenaline laced so-called 'guy movies'.
On a side not, although not a top 10 film in my opinion, 'Crank' was ridiculously entertaining and ***** hilarious. It was brilliant doing what it sent out to do- which was entertain.
If you would rather drag your ***** thru broken glass than watch a cheeky and entertaining action flick, than you are a serious masochist.- InfinitySnatch, on 03/27/2008, -2/+3I don't think you have a superCool gf. Enjoy your tranny roommate.
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1It never said women wouldn't enjoy them. It just said men probably would.
- Whelo10, on 03/27/2008, -1/+15Hang on a minute! There's no way Match Point can be considered a movie a guy has to see!! Sentences like "this one’s so much sexier because of Johansson’s quirky, sensual beauty." should never be used to decribe a movie for guys! Where's Desperado in this...Banderas has to get a mention, no?
- RevoltPuppy, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1You know, you're right. Men really don't like watching sexy babes.
- whatthefu, on 03/27/2008, -8/+3The American Psycho movie was nothing compared to the book.
- debuffplx, on 03/27/2008, -7/+3Totally boring and predictable list. Black snake moan? gtfo. All these "guy movie" lists have heat, casino, godfather, scarface ect. Those are probably the most boring movies ever made. Replace everything with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
- nullcodes, on 03/27/2008, -29/+5Fight Club really ***** sucked. I hate it. It was full of pseudo intellectualism etc. Gosh it sucked. Pulp fiction sucked too though prolly not as bad. Reservoir Dogs was OK.
They left out a whole bunch of great action movies.- aaaleman, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Silence, you twisted heathen!
- punkcat, on 03/27/2008, -5/+3i didnt think Collateral was a guy film.

- nullcodes, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2I think they're trying to make the point that being able to watch horribly bad movies is what makes you a man.

Big- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Not perfect but definitely better for the most part. I'd rather watch Trains, Planes and Automobiles than Trainspotting any day. But if you are going to have one only Mel Brooks movie, go Blazing Saddles.
- dajuggernaut, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3what are movies with old school cast members of SNL! ftw
- Peko, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5Not a bad list of generally watchable movies, but it's meant to be a "Guy Movie" list, so I'm going to have to question your manhood on a number of choices =)

- IncogMosqui, on 03/27/2008, -0/+5I was right there with you until I saw that you included "Pretty In Pink."
Uh. Not a guy list.
If you wanted to go for a little sap that has some redeeming value (and the hotness of Molly Ringwald) you should have picked Sixteen Candles over it. - mortigon, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Add Slapshot please.
- inverselogic, on 03/27/2008, -0/+0Yes! real genius , finally someone else who likes it !

But, at least Speed made the cut.
There were movies made before 1995, right?- Sawta, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3They were trying to do "recent" movies. The only problem is that so many recent movies pale in comparision to the one's you've just listed.
- tdogg241, on 03/27/2008, -0/+5Batman Begins and Saving Private Ryan even meet their criteria of being less than 20 years old, yet somehow Crank is sitting at #10. That's just appalling.
- DoThaDew, on 03/27/2008, -9/+7Burried for listing Crank, and planet terror.
- zephyr42, on 03/27/2008, -5/+10Boondock Saints
Indiana Jones
This list is wrong on so many levels. Case closed.- pedo, on 03/27/2008, -6/+5boondock saints sucked and is overrated
- Narcism, on 03/27/2008, -2/+3you suck and you're overrated, see what i did there?
- Sawta, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2I don't think it so much sucked as it just...didn't have any story, character development, narative or cool/memorable scenes to speak of.
You see, it doesn't suck per-say, because it's not even a real movie; it's just a series of scenes. - zephyr42, on 03/28/2008, -3/+1Boondock Saints is an epic movie from a lot of respecs.... action wise and it can really make you think. It's written along the same lines as the show Dexter. And no if anything it's underrated. Not that many people know about it.
- pedo, on 03/28/2008, -0/+1the "it can really make you think" part is what i'm talking about. it tries to be deep but it is really just a stupid, shallow action flick, and even as an action flick it sucked. only an idiot would think that movie is deep.
- pedo, on 03/27/2008, -6/+5boondock saints sucked and is overrated
- EarlOfLade, on 03/27/2008, -6/+9Bad List?

- Midnight Express
- Texas Chainsaw Massacre

and many other?- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Some of those are over 20 years old.
- EmerilLIVE, on 03/27/2008, -3/+1And therefore much more qualified for any list of movies that must be seen before you die, they have stood the test of time, unlike most of the movies on this ***** list, which won't be remembered in 25 years. And it doesn't have Boondock Saints, FAIL.
- TinternAbbot, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Read the description. The poster says that this list only includes movies from the last 20 years because movies older than that are classics and already included on "must see before you die" lists.
- EmerilLIVE, on 03/27/2008, -2/+2You, my friend are full of win for listing Grand Prix. That has some of the most amazing camera work I have ever seen, it is visually unlike anything I've ever seen.
- philhatesyou, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2Rambo and Rocky aren't actually good movies, guy.
- Soave, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Some of those are over 20 years old.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103905/- RonPaulSucks21, on 03/27/2008, -2/+0Man Bites Dog sucked. So ***** you.
- FoghornLeghorn, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3Terrible, terrible list. So many good movies are omitted and bad movies that shouldn't have been included. The only thing I have to add is if you're talking about movies for guys, how the hell does Brian's Song get completely ignored?
- Homerr, on 03/27/2008, -0/+8Don't care if it's fair or not since it's more of a mini-series, but Band of Brothers needs to top the list.
- dajuggernaut, on 03/27/2008, -5/+1key word: MOVIES not series.

A "Modern" guide would do good to consider that a lot of "Modern" movies are absolute *****, especially compared to 60+ years of film making preceding the movies on this ***** list.

- PussInBoots, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Match Point? Excuse me, film is great, but it is not a 'guy's movie'
- boredsam, on 03/27/2008, -2/+8Million Dollar Baby, Lucky Number Slevin, Insomnia and Speed are all turds. I also would have rather seen Hard Boiled over Face Off, but at least The Killer is in there. Also the lack of Rambo/Terminator in a list of guy movies is a ***** travesty. Sexy Beast is another glaring omission.
- IncogMosqui, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2I dunno, Lucky Number Slevin wasn't *bad*.
It wasn't *good* or *see before you die*, but it wasn't *bad*.
Clearly, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang would make for a perfect replacement - same genre, better actors. Same humor, but executed way better. - fudsak, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Buried, Lucky Number Slevin is a great movie.
- IncogMosqui, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2I dunno, Lucky Number Slevin wasn't *bad*.
- pedo, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Match Point is a total chick flick but Scarlett Johansson is amazing.
Black Snake Moan IS as sleazy as the poster suggests.
wtf no MATRIX?? no REQUIEM??? no SHAWSHANK??? no TERMINATOR?? no FIRST BLOOD??? so many missing that should be on there.- 8ight, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I loved Match Point. I was surprised to even see it on the list though. But as a few others have mentioned... Face Off? Come on!!! UGH!
