- designashirt, on 07/08/2009, -4/+35The trailer for Taken should be on this list. Who didn't want to see that movie after hearing Liam Neeson's phone conversation?

There's no other trailer that's left more of an impression on me. It was attached to the first "Transformers" movie, but I left the theater thinking more about that trailer than the two hours of giant robots I had just seen. Rather than a typical trailer, it showed a deliberately vague scene from the the film, which worked to its advantage, and got everyone talking about it coming out of the theater. Discussion went on for months after fans realized it was part of a much larger ARG marketing campaign.
For those of you who didn't have the opportunity to see it in the theater: http://tr.im/rrEJ - BobDle, on 07/08/2009, -0/+10The Big Lebowski imo, but whatever that's just like...your opinion...mann
- dagnabbit, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7The Phantom Menace Trailer #2 is better than the one they linked to (#1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dWA9DwDQpM - inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+7I'd have to agree that the trailer was better than the movie, but the movie wasn't bad.
- nurbsenvi, on 07/08/2009, -1/+7I thought the new Star Trek trailer was orgasmic.
- OnShakedown, on 07/08/2009, -3/+8bookmarking this to watch later. some i've never seen there.
- lphchld, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4The Sin City trailer was great. It also featured great music by dir. Robert Rodriguez

- ban1d0, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3Matrix Reloaded trailer was pretty good imo.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsgrsiZoymA - whatthefu, on 07/08/2009, -0/+3I thought the original trailer for Watchmen with the Smashing Pumpkins song was epic.
- danwallace, on 07/08/2009, -2/+5Pineapple Express should be mentioned in there somewhere. (stuck at work, can't read the whole thing)
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -4/+7Wow. Does no one see the irony here?
IFC, "voices of independent culture"? I'll give you a hint: trailers are more often than not created by major studios and their marketing team. Not the people that actually had a creative hand in the film. And they usually misrepresent the film or spoil it. - AeroZeppelin, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2The Fountain

Borat (probably funniest trailer I've ever seen)

And once again "greatest" apparently means only in/to America.
How about the Oldboy trailer?

or the friend trailer?

- scburns123, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2Man after seeing the Star Wars Episode 1 trailer I just wish the movie, and the 2 others that followed it, would have turned out better...
- BoonTobiasPSN, on 07/08/2009, -3/+5Don't watch public enemies, ***** mediocre pos
- yocouchdigga, on 07/08/2009, -0/+2my undies, dude... the whitesss
- NBCLocal, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3The trailer for Fight Club was epic. It forever changed the Pixies for me.
- pcflynn89, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3i hated that trailer. it was annoying.
- yocouchdigga, on 07/08/2009, -1/+3Best Movie Trailer Ever: "The Movie Without A Trailer" staring Nicholas Cage as Tom Reynolds, an everyman with a secret/knows a secret/uncovers a secret, that will rip your ***** nuts off and beat you mercilessly with them, till you are a bloody, formless, cowering, shadow of your former self... incoherently babbling for mercy as your pitiful life flashes in the gaping holes where your eyes once were. Rated PG-13 for brief nudity and thematic material.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Never saw the movie, but you're right, the trailer was pretty good.
- inactive, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2Alien.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojhGdRSkiUw - dsmx, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1I was startled.
- KublaiKhan, on 07/08/2009, -3/+4Watchmen was spectacular, no doubt about it. Even though I'd never heard of the IP, watching the trailer for the first time made me go out and buy the graphic novel on the spot. Sadly, I didn't realize that I should have stopped there and never actually gone to see the movie.
(I kid, I kid. But the movie was something of a letdown after the ridiculous trailer and the source comic.) - civuckagain, on 07/09/2009, -0/+1I always recall the teaser for STRANGE DAYS being well done - particularly when I originally saw it on a huge cinema screen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0zaqWQiXG8
A far too under-rated sci-fi flick. - ksgant, on 07/08/2009, -1/+2I still get chills watching the "300" trailer. I mean, this has to be the best obviously-shot-in-front-of-a-green-screen movie I've ever seen!
Not to mention it was directed by Legendary Director Zack Snyder. (he had his name legally changed to Legendary Director Zack Snyder right before "Watchmen" came out). - vfred, on 07/09/2009, -0/+0Agreed. Strange Days was a very good scifi movie!
- Spacejack, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0They actually ran that one on network TV... on Saturday morning no less. Talk about good iconography placement.
- JediPilot, on 07/08/2009, -0/+0Yeah, the movie wasn't bad. Reminded me of a Steven Segal movie, though. The protagonist is retired from some sort of job where he learned all the abilities he needs to solve a current personal revenge plot.
- vpshockwave, on 07/08/2009, -1/+1That was ... way too long.
- barne100, on 07/09/2009, -1/+0it was number 3 on the list.
- IllBeBack, on 07/08/2009, -6/+3That was a case where the trailer was better than the actual movie, which was pretty boring and very predictable.
