- invictus13, on 07/24/2008, -0/+21How about this *****
http://digg.com/movies/Fox_sues_Max_Payne_independ ... - CaptainNoPants, on 07/23/2008, -0/+19I don't really care for the one on top, but the one on the bottom is kick ass. I'm really excited to see this movie.
- robotdanceteam, on 07/24/2008, -1/+18"battle enemies beyond the natural world"? WTF?!
What happened to an awesome 'film-noir love story'? Oh that's right, its getting ruined. - crazylegs001, on 07/23/2008, -2/+18I like both posters, lets just hope this is not HITMAN.
- aaneton, on 07/24/2008, -0/+14"The flesh of fallen angels" was a very "common" phrase in Max Payne 1. Also the first game contained a lot of references to Norse mythology. E.g. The drug in Max Payne universe was called Valkyr. It's likely the "angels" are Valkyries caused Max Payne hallucinations on Valkyr drug or just due to his madness. It could be e.g. something he sees every time he kills someone, a valkyr carrying the dead away. I hope they are just illusions in the movie.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyr - Kinsbane, on 07/24/2008, -0/+12One on the bottom is more in-line with the box art from the games, love it!
- takua108, on 07/24/2008, -0/+10THE ONE THING THAT WOULD ABSOLUTELY SELL THE MOVIE FOR ME:

"There was something disturbingly familiar about the letter before me. The handwriting was all pretty curves. 'You're in an action movie, Max.'
The truth was a burning green crack through my brain. Microphone booms suspended in the air, glimpsed out of the corner of my eye, endless repetition of the act of the act of shooting, time slowing down to show off my moves. The paranoid feel of an entire theatre watching my every step.
I was in an action movie. Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of."

(If you don't get it, it's the best moment to ever happen in the history of videogames:) http://media.collegepublisher.com/media/paper692/s ... - gameradam, on 07/24/2008, -0/+8*fingers crossed* Come on Max Payne 3, I hope you will surface soon (it's coming, the ending to number 2 on hardest difficulty paves the way)
- JohnFry, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7That was a great game in it's day. Max Payne 2 was great also.
- takeo1775, on 07/24/2008, -0/+7DONT RESIZE MY BROWSER
- amanilaenvelope, on 07/24/2008, -1/+8Sweet!
- takua108, on 07/24/2008, -0/+6In the first Max Payne, "the flesh of fallen angels" was a recurring theme. I can't quite remember what its purpose was (Valkyr, maybe? it's been awhile), but yeah, I hope they don't take it literally and if they do trippy ***** like that they put it where it belongs, in the trippy dream/drug sequences.
- MCA2142, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5One way this could be money:
Have alec baldwin opposite wahlberg. Let's have more of that "The Departed" report. - myshl0ng, on 07/24/2008, -3/+8The angels are from the Valkyre trips you dolts. "I played Max Payne, I know what its about Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr", obviously didn`t pay attention the the ***** story.
And Mark seems awesome in the role. - takua108, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5Damn, the second one makes me really want to see this movie now that it reminded me of the first Max Payne box art.
- myshl0ng, on 07/24/2008, -1/+5Mark is awesome and there are always exceptions to a rule.
- thebusdriver, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4my first thoughts too. I dont remember shootin up any demons in max payne.
- MCA2142, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4I can feel your struggle get worse one digg down at a time for the shameless self promotion you've displayed here.
I'm only doing you a favor. Struggle makes good writers. - ashwin100, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3All I remember is: "the pills help to ease the pain."
If he doesn't say that in the movie, I will be sorely disappointed. - EntangledPhysx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+6WTF is with the first poster? Whats with the angel? I only played Max Payne 2, and I saw no angels, or anything referenced to angels. Am I mistaken? If not, than that means they put some BS stuff into a movie that is going to suck anyways because it's based off a video game (DOOM, anyone?). Not surprised.
- Pushkin, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3And for the non-movie buffs out there who only got 2-girls-one-cup out of the title, here is the explanation of one-sheet
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_sheet - robinthehood, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3as an aside, Chris O'Donnell is still alive? or his career at least?...
- myshl0ng, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3You base this on what, the trailer?
- blackmesa, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3That second one is kickass.
I just hope this movie has all the over the top self-narrated noir-style dialogue. It was what made that game so awesome. - robotdanceteam, on 07/24/2008, -2/+5When you say 'degraded' you mean the best part of the whole film right? Right?
- geoffreyireland, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3That bottom one is seriously cool.
I want Max Payne 3. :( - scottsutherland, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Meh, the game itself was pretty much a movie. All that talk of the underworld and battling enemies beyond the natural world has turned me off. Still, I'm sure I'll torrent someone's movie cam.
- Zounas, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Well the original team isn't doing it anymore, so we can assume it's going to be crap.
- bagboyrebel, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2but you guys don't get it, if he said anything good about that scene he wouldn't be able to say the movie sucked. Since this is a video game movie it must suck regardless of what's actually in the movie.
- shauncullen, on 07/25/2008, -0/+2Thank you for reminding me of the greatness of the original Max Payne. I forgot how hilarious, dark, noire, cheesy in a good way, it was. I'm going to download 1 and 2 from Steam. Now.
- Halsfield, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2it says he fights unnatural creatures... i dont think thats a trip. someone else guessed that they were just him on painkillers seeing people carrying away his enemies, but we won't know more unless they tell us or until we see the movie.
- murlox, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I just saw the trailer at youtube.com, and the movie doesn't bear any resemblance to the games, especially the soundtrack, lack of bullet time (perhaps the filmmaker doesn't want to copy Matrix), and the absence of film noir-esque storytelling. I'd say it has a good chance to bomb, but I might be wrong, so we'll see.
- stonedgeek, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I'm still holding out hope that video game movies will stop sucking soon the way comic book movies stopped sucking after batman begins.
- crashingechelon, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2That first person part was one of the better parts of the movie.
- kenok, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1"As the mystery deepens, Max (Wahlberg) is forced to battle enemies beyond the natural world and face an unthinkable betrayal."
Man, there better not be fightin demons from hell in this movie. - HeatVision, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1The story title is inaccurate, FOX didn't sue him, they demanded him to cease using the Max Payne name (naturally, they would have sued him if he didn't). According to the filmmaker, aside from the Max Payne character, all the other characters are original, as is his story, so he's going to change the name of Max Payne and release it without violating FOX's copyright.
- Torx, on 07/24/2008, -3/+4Banksy Max Payne Poster FTW!!!!
- ExSlashdotter, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Eh, there were the guys at the end who were all into the satanic church or whatever (been a few years since i played it). I remember walking through one of the later levels and that mob boss guy was creepy voice/jibberish/satanic praying stuff.
Never were any actual monsters or anything though. - N1tro, on 07/24/2008, -3/+4sadly i liked hitman, maybe i am one of the few and i didnt have high expectations. but it was decent for what it was.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I have high hopes for this movie - especially since marky mark is in it. I don't think he'd agree to sign on to a movie if it was utter crap.
- mnky9800n, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1The creepy parts were the dream sequences with the crying baby. I remember the satanic rituals and stuff towards the end of the game but there was no fighting demons, just weirdos and traversing blood mazes, which is creepy enough for me for max payne. I think demons would of cheapened the deal.
- spyd3rweb, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1He probably skipped through the 10,000 animations or storyboards that pop up every 30 seconds.
- shauncullen, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1Mark Walhberg is not Max Payne! Why not the guy they used in the second game?! ARGH.
- nickweston, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I have made two rules involving movies:
I don't go to any movie where somebody gets kicked in the balls in the trailer
I don't go to any movie that has to resort to a gun in the poster
Hollywood has forgotten how to make a good movie.
P.S. rent "Network" - artfiend77, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I love "interactive videogames", they are so much better than the ones you just watch.
- thugzilla, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Devil Jin is in Max Payne?
- vystral, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1hell freakin yeah. those posters really hit the spot
- Pirate45, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Who the hell calls it a "onesheet"?
- bagboyrebel, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1wow, you are so cool...
