They're making an american version of the old Simon Pegg show, ala The Office, but because of the original show's contract, they're under no obligation to involve Simon, Edgar, or Jess, the other creator/star. Pretty ***** *****. The original show was really great, and spot-on geek culture portrayal, stuffed to the brim with creative pop-culture satire, much like the recent movies. I'd definitely check out the DVDs.

They both want to have an idea of what they are getting before they invest their hard earned cash. It's sad but true. There will always be a niche of new ideas but the majority of films will be adaptations.

Though, seeing "V" in the list is interesting. I was 5 years old in 1983 and watched it with my 11 year old sister. I made the comment one day that when the alien people would rip their Earthling disguise off the actors were actually wearing two layers of costume. Apparently hadn't crossed my much older sister's mind ;)
