- SquigglyP, on 09/02/2008, -1/+23I love the fact that after clicking through 21 pages of ads with a little content, they add that one extra page for you to click to that turns the tiny bit of space they used for the content into another ad. The last page is 100% advertising.
This country ***** rocks.

- jefrim, on 09/02/2008, -0/+14Where's Children of Men?
- plainOldFool, on 09/02/2008, -0/+12folks, the author did not say these films suck. All he said was that the future landscapes of all these films suck.
- TConundrum, on 09/02/2008, -3/+15Gattaca was an awesome future!
- rheaume, on 09/02/2008, -0/+11Burried for #1 and #16 being the same ***** adaptation
- baldgye, on 09/02/2008, -0/+10"21 Horrible Sci-Fi Futures
Escape From New York
1981; set in 1997"
umm...
also a Blade Runner future would be AWESOME - cnot3, on 09/02/2008, -6/+16Buried for complete lack of V for Vendetta and Equilibrium. I am Legend? Seriously? Will ***** Smith?
- PatrickFisher, on 09/02/2008, -0/+9I'm usually not one to do the whole "Oh, they missed X on this list, how can you call it a Y list without X", BUT:
They missed Idiocracy. - inactive, on 09/02/2008, -0/+9What!? no Waterworld?
- slundal, on 09/02/2008, -0/+81984?
- chroko, on 09/02/2008, -2/+10"#7, 12 Monkeys - Survivors of a plague live under Philadelphia because scientists spend all their energy sending Bruce Willis back in time. Um, hello? How about a cure?"
Talk about missing the entire point of the movie. (And it was a great movie - that they obviously need to see again.)
**** Spoiler **** The entire movie was about sending people back in time to get a "pure" sample of the plague before it had mutated, so that an antidote could be created. **** Spoiler **** - Modulo, on 09/02/2008, -0/+8You are thinking of the wrong movie. This was a TV movie about the aftermath of a nuclear war.
- SquigglyP, on 09/02/2008, -0/+8The list wasn't about crappy movies, it was about how crappy it would be to live in the world of the movies.
- louiedog, on 09/02/2008, -0/+8How is that the future? It's a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Besides, The Phantom Menace sucks.
- SquigglyP, on 09/02/2008, -0/+8I think he was talking about the made for TV movie "The Day After" which is about a nuclear attack.
Not a dystopian future, tho. - benroy, on 09/02/2008, -0/+7The alternate ending almost redeems it though. ...Almost.
- super_spyder, on 09/02/2008, -0/+6scariest and most realistic.
- ABadPerson, on 09/02/2008, -1/+7but this is digg, you gotta bury people with out any reason
- herrshuster, on 09/02/2008, -2/+7It was well made as well as written, what are you saying?
- benroy, on 09/02/2008, -2/+7Hey, at least none of these 'futures' had inane, pervasive reality television, Extenze infomercials, $4.75 gasoline, Presidents with double-digit IQ's or Furry conventions, to name a few.
I'd try some soylent green if it meant that my *adult* room-mate would stop watching 'The Hills'. - danmurf, on 09/02/2008, -0/+5The Running Man
- GorfTron, on 09/02/2008, -0/+522 pages to click! noooooooooo
- honeybrass, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4Startrek?
- Asianwaste, on 09/02/2008, -2/+6WALL E
Terminator
I'd say Robocop... but I really think that "I'd buy that for a dollar" show is awesome. - cnot3, on 09/02/2008, -9/+13The only good thing about The Day After Tomorrow was the South Park parodies. That movie sucked ass, dude. Global warming was literally chasing them down a hallway, and as if that wasn't ridiculous enough, there's wolves, yep, wolves, the only creatures that can survive global warming, trying to kill them. WE DIDN'T LISTEN!
- EndouOuto, on 09/02/2008, -1/+5S&M conventions are bad?
- TwwIX, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4So, you wouldn't mind being discriminated and be labeled as an "in-valid"?
- Lokus, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4I don't want to spoil the movie, but Dark City isn't necessarily in the future...
- inactive, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4Actually, if you watch clone wars, then go back and watch Phantom Menace... then... No. It sucked. I hate you George Lucas, you stole my childhood and sold it.
- mCanada, on 09/02/2008, -0/+4I remember watching "Escape From LA" in '96(?) and the President they had was this fundamentalist nut job who turned the US into a police state. This was during the Clinton era and in the back of my head I thought "that could never happen, movies are such *****!".
HAH- :( - MiddleOfNowhere, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Like all great SF, "Children of Men" explores what it means to be human. What does your existence mean when you are part of the last generation? What will you do with your life? It's a dystopian vision and as such not meant to be "fun" or "exciting".
Pretty existential stuff. And it has several breathtaking long shot sequences. If you ever do rent the DVD, be sure to watch the "making of" for that chase sequence in the woods. This is a cinematographer's wet dream. - Jarasmen, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Just reading through J.G. Ballard's "The Drowned World" and am saddened that not even "Waterworld" made it on this list.
- Yeknom, on 09/02/2008, -1/+4I just re-read Brave New World. That is a future that would truly suck balls
- MiddleOfNowhere, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Even after all these years, BR is my favorite movie.
But - *living* in that world, especially Los Angeles?
Acid rain, permanent darkness (probably post-nuclear, at least this is the case with the original novel by Philip K. Dick), almost all animals gone, replicants who want to kill you? And Hare Krishna hippies all over the place?
Dear Lord, no. - Nirgaul, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Should have made the list:
A BOY AND HIS DOG
SILENT RUNNING - ffffffrabbit, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3 Blue Submarine No.6
- OfNumbers, on 09/02/2008, -0/+3Dugg for 13.
- FTLJohnson, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Also should be on the list: Just about every 3rd episode of Doctor Who.
- RaulMuadDib, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Young Linda Harrison FTW!
- Stoneman89, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2A clockwork orange is one of the best movies ever. off list
- virtorio, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2just about all over those futures > now
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2The Durango '95 purred away a real horrowshow a nice, warm vibraty feeling all through your guttiwuts. And soon it was trees and dark, my brothers, with real country dark.
- MuffinPatrol, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Im going to dig you up just to be the only guy who does.
- ElectroStep, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2What really bugs me about Equilibrium is all those armed police. They all wear cheap leather coats and motorbike helmets and for some reason dust flies off them when you shoot them.
- Slayerdude51982, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Buried for inaccuracy...Back to the Future II's future is nothing like what they said, they're thinking the alternate 1985, and also buried just for having it on their list!
- calebian, on 09/02/2008, -6/+8The thing that's horrible is this list! I thought most of the movies listed were great films. I am legend did suck though
- cdigioia, on 09/02/2008, -0/+2Wow...way to be a whiny little bitch.
