- d8cam, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30This is the kind of film Michael Bay was born to direct...
- anicejew, on 10/12/2007, -27/+3It's fake, if you go to Slashdot and read the story, they do a breakdown of why it's fake.
- zatrix, on 10/12/2007, -8/+78I think it looks horrible, nothing like the transformers of our day.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -4/+8They look weird because this is before they take their vehicle form.
- juanotejano, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12It looks like the hulk. I see bad things in the future for this movie.
- thegreyfox, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3BARF!
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is that a plane transformer? This is starting to look more and more like Returner. I guess there would be some irony in getting inspiration from Returner.
- lgc90, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5another link: http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/1529/transformersrr9.jpg
- xrisnothing, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14That part of my soul that was hoping this movie would be at least bearable, you know, the part of you that doesn't listen to reason, just gave up the fight.
- Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12"They look weird because this is before they take their vehicle form."
Unfortunately, no it isn't. This is a screenshot of the Decepticon Scorponok during an attack on a US base in the Middle East. I don't think I need to tell you what he is supposed to be modelled after. ;p - Tolzmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3i REALLY wish they'd make a Beast Wars movie. but this is an awesome start :)
- ministewy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20gen 1 transformers > beast wars
- sanman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2From what I've seen of previously posted pics, that's supposed to be Megatron.
- Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2> From what I've seen of previously posted pics, that's supposed to be Megatron.
Megatron does not appear in the Middle East. I don't want to give any spoilers away, but he'll be in the US throughout the movie. :) - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Look at this way... yes the Hulk was a joke.... but he is generating $$$ for
Marvel by doing Phillips TV commercials.
Who knows this Transformer movie characters may be picked up by The Pampered Chef to sell toasters or some kind of kitchen gizmo.
"Hello I'm Megatron from the Movie Transformers... do you have problems with burnt
toast.....?"
Yeah so far I am not impressed with the still shot and the design of the new transformers movie... big let down. - xenoploid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This looks like some Starship Troopers *****. When were the Decepticons ever sci-fi horror monsters?
Here's an excerpt from the Ain't It Cool News article with Bay:
"The biggest difference from the cartoon and toys is that the Autobots and Decepticons aren't going to be as blocky. Bay said that when they started breaking down how these robots transform from vehicles to robots the blocky end result didn't make any sense and looked pretty silly. So, you see the working parts of the vehicles much more on the robots, you see sharper angles, but they all stem from them transforming."

Michael Bay you are a ***** moron. Silly? Who ***** cares if you think it looks silly, the whole concept is silly. NO ONE CARES. We were kids when we fell in love with Transformers!

- PsycoMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1is there a scene like this in the script?
- DaysInTheDark, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9I don't think it's fake, I just think it looks like Starship Troopers. Disappointing.
- Cykaos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4exactly my first thought. Starship troopers while funny was really bad.
- ManJoos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2or more like the Power Rangers!
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1LOL... with 'Transform' and 'Roll Out' added here and there..

- PsycoMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Well im an idiot, forget about my last comment
- EyeChewRazors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes there's a scene like this. It's the scorpion (I don't know it's name I'm not a fan) in iraq. I don't know if THIS screen is real....could be...as the information reguarding the character is right but I honestly doubt the cg is this far along.
- effervescence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, Skorponok (or some variation on that) is the name, and I remember reading about scenes shot at a desert military base, so that seems to be what this is.
- NoSpaceForRent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12On the 20th anniversary release of the original Transformers Movie, (On DVD and only $15) it did have a little sneak peek at the upcoming Transformers movie and it did show a military force in a desert somewhere running from robots. The actors were in fatigues and similar dress to those in the picture. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30hey wow guys you just witnessed 1/172800th of the movie, talk about newsworthy stuff.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Ha, kudos for the accurate calculation.
- pooslinger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Enough time to know that Michael Bay has ruined another movie.
- cosmotron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A 2 hour movie @ 24FPS?
- ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Unless it's digital. Then it's 30 FPS.
- MattGrover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1unless they're shooting at 24p for film print
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -8/+13Wow, this looks like a cheap B-rated movie. :(
- Livewire, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15yea this movie needs way more character development.
- mdnash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3so did snakes on a plane....i dont know if you happened to see it, but i thought snakes was awsome.
- MacHarborGuy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3no, it looks like a single frame of a movie. quit your bitchin. scorpinok looks awesome IMO

This is your armored Humvee on drugs.
Any questions?- Flashman, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Yes, where may I purchase some of these 'drugs' of which you speak?
- dierien2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6if you look at it just right it kind of looks like the transformer "scorponok"
and according to Wiki this is supposed to be a character in the movie.

- esaks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5they should have just set the movie in the 80s instead of trying to modernize it. Ever since the first images started coming out, I've been nothing but dissapointed.
- Moloth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Its Skorpinok still in his Cybertronian mode.
I am completely impressed by people's ability to rate, judge, critique and condemn a movie by a single still frame. well done.- quisph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2To be fair, I think the mere fact that it's based on The Transformers says a lot, too.
(And FWIW, *most* movies suck. It's a reasonable null hypothesis for any movie, until there is sufficient evidence to suggest otherwise.)
- quisph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2To be fair, I think the mere fact that it's based on The Transformers says a lot, too.
- irvin666, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5HEY! you missed the scene pic where it had the intel icon tattooed on Optimus Prime's chest.
Also the other scene pic where the humans used msn search to look for the super secret hiding place of the decepticons!- devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They weren't using msn search... they were looking at the Decepticon's MySpace pages to find out what all the "hip" bad-boy transformers were up to.
I think I saw James Bond doing that in Casino Royale too...
- devo6273, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2They weren't using msn search... they were looking at the Decepticon's MySpace pages to find out what all the "hip" bad-boy transformers were up to.
- CDRaff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I think it will still be cool, I know true fans(to which I belong trust me, I have the Autobot and Decepticon symbols tattooed on my upper forearms) were hoping for a complete clone of the 80's cartoon, but as an owner of all of the gen one box sets, I am kinda glad they are taking it in a new fresh direction. I mean I already have a hard time explaining to my wife how in the cartoon Megatron shrinks to like a third of his size so Soundwave can shoot him. Or how Soundwave can be a normal sized boom box one minute and 10 feet tall when he transforms.
- Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The main difficulty will be taking the transformer designs in a new direction without taking away the things that remind us of the old cartoons that we grew up with. When I see Optimus on screen for the first time, I understand completely that he won't look like the Optimus I remember, but I want to believe that he IS Optimus. I want to be reminded of the things that I loved about the original when I would come home from school everyday, plunk myself down in front of the tv and watch it. It takes a talented director to create that kind of nostalgia while taking the movie in a different direction altogether.
Whether Bay can pull this off or not is anyones guess.

- technique, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue
- nikoniko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Me thinks there's more to this than meets the eye.
- ampersand2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why can't hollywood just make faithful translations to the silver screen?
Honestly...if they had done something like the tv show, this would have been huge. Now, it's just going to be a big budget flop.
sigh.
I'm going to go back and watch some transformers on vhs in my mom's basement...who's with me?- MacHarborGuy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2because a faithful translation would look like crap. honestly, would you be able to sit there with a straight face and watch a movie based on Transformers and the autobots and decepticons look exactly to a T like they did in the original cartoon? I know I couldn't. I like this new look, very much updated.
Plus Transformers was a KIDS cartoon. This movie is being made for those same kids who are now grown up. - Karyyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1How come so many of those grown up kids are hating the look?
Fact is, an update I can deal with, as every generation of Transformers toys have been updated, modernized, etc. That being said, I do not like the direction that they've been taken. It's one thing to take the originals and make them better, but when the characters don't even resemble their earlier incarnations, well, there's a definite problem. Prime will only be recognized from his voice and head, while characters like Megatron, well, aside from being EVIL, what will anyone recognize? - illpacin0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2A faithful translation would've been a homerun.
Just look at the success of the Dreamwave comic line that started up a few years ago. All G1, and it sold like wildfire. Little kids weren't buying those, us 20 somethings that watched TF in the 80s were.

- ChileanGoD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2By the looks of it, it seems to be megatron. I saw an early picture of him before. Kinda looks like a kingkong had mated with a cybertronic vine or something.
http://www.jalopnik.com/cars/news/exclusive-transformers-movie-update-megatrons-nastier-than-prime-196450.php
While I though this was going to be the CyberTron form of him it seems he stays the same on earth.
... .... CRAP! They are screwing this movie real bad!!- vdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Welcome to Hollywood. Michael Bay sleeps in a bed made of $100 bills.
- cyberghost232, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5***** Michael Bay.

***** hollywood.... if it aint broke... fix it until even the fanboys say it sucks....
hope im wrong - Import98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't look anything like a transformer to me. Being old school I prefer the 80's Transformers, not this new gen *****.
- mrgone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At least he got the "more than meets the eye" part right.. because there's no way I would've gotten "scorpion" from looking at that.
- ASSASSYN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when can the F-22 Raptor stop in mid air and hover...O they mean the F-35b which will be in the movie and CAN stop and hover.
- TylerDurden76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well at the VERY least, Peter Cullen is going to be the voice of Optimus Prime.
That's ONE thing that Bay has gotten right. That right there was going to be a deal breaker for me if Prime didn't sound the same. - lamestory, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2title doesnt say it all, tard. WTF is AICN ? Try not being such a lazy slob when you spam-post digg.
- TylerDurden76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How can you even be a poster at digg and not even know that
AICN = Ain't It Cool News. What are you, new? - lamestory, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm not a poster, i'm a commenter.
- TylerDurden76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How can you even be a poster at digg and not even know that
- TheGeek27, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At the bottom of the page it says "Removed at the request of Paramount". Which is secret AICN code for "We posted another BS image that was clearly fake and got called on it."
- nomadofthewaves, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0While I enjoy the 80's cartoon transformers and only beastwars after that, you still have to give the movie a chance. I also collect the G1 figures. But from what I've read about the movie its not based on the 80's version most of us know about. Alot of the robots will be seen in their cybertronian modes before they take on vehicles from earth. And yes some do look semi crappy, I'll still wait to see it before I deem it CRAP. Most people are expecting it to be solely based on the 80's cartoon and with some characters that's just not possible.
- Brhine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The original image is still on AICN in a larger resolution than the other links I have seen here.
http://www.aintitcool.com/images2006/RunTyreseBig.jpg - Talus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man, this movie was NOT made for us 80s fans. Sad, really.
- ScottBookG4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm more confused by the guy wearing the US Air Force t-shirt who clearly looks like an infantryman...shrug. And his gun looks lame.
...sigh - Aslan72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Who was drunk when they approved this movie? Does anyone actually think through killing a cherished part of the 18-34 year old demographic's childhood? Seriously, turning Bumblebee into a camero? Megatron *isn't* a gun? Why would people watch this??
- tkotam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i saw this digg submission after i saw another transformers related submission (which is so much cooler): http://digg.com/videos_animation/Stunning_Rendition_of_Optimus_Prime_Pics_and_Video#c4011925
