- AndrewDB, on 11/25/2008, -6/+33Ghostbusters could be extremely epic or it could be an extreme case of fail.
- Jektal, on 11/25/2008, -1/+24Actually a Fahrenheit 451 movie sounds about due, politically-speaking...
- Jektal, on 11/25/2008, -0/+22Sequel != Remake
- sirdandan, on 11/25/2008, -2/+19Remakes are almost always a bad thing. Why not have an original thought Hollywood?
- hauntedchippy, on 11/25/2008, -1/+17Rama movie please.
- Scopitone, on 11/25/2008, -2/+17The only way they could improve on Robocop is by swapping his squad car out with a UNICORN!
- Gr00ver, on 11/25/2008, -2/+15Am I the only one tired of remakes?
- Balanced, on 11/25/2008, -0/+13What's wrong with the current movie?
- tbranham, on 11/25/2008, -1/+14I'm burying your comment as inaccurate: it is _NOT_ about damn time for a re-make of RoboCop! Stop this madness at all costs!
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12Better to make a good original movie than keep re-releasing increasingly bastardized remakes of old classics.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -1/+10No way, the first is classic and doesn't need a remake, the sequels on the other hand...
- archer104, on 11/25/2008, -0/+9I want you to plan my wedding.
- Dynamoo, on 11/25/2008, -0/+9RoboCop? Ghostbusters? Two movies that certainly don't need a remake. You could argue that the others don't too, but a modern spin on some of those 1950s and 1960s classics would be worth watching.. even if it's just to remind you how good the originals were. What next? Rebooting "Star Trek"? Oh wait..
- jarjarwang, on 11/25/2008, -0/+8I want 12 "makes" of Sci-Fi literary classics.
- ericdano, on 11/25/2008, -2/+10Sad........really. Why not come up with something.......original?
- LostOnion, on 11/25/2008, -0/+7The sheer simplicity of The Day the Earth Stood Still is what made it a great movie with a message that was on spot-on at the dawn of the nuclear age. And it stands up wonderfully 57 years later. I saw a trailer for the remake and it looks like they robbed the movie of its soul. Such a shame. Now a new generation will think this is what a good movie is supposed to be.
- thenativeraver, on 11/25/2008, -1/+7I love how hollywood exec's blame pirates for their losses.
While they just keep regurgitating that same old *****, over and over and over.
I only go to the theaters for movies I haven't seen before. - himenohogosha, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6Unrated DVD edition is still awesome as hell. Two was *OOOK...*. Three was just embarassing.
- meed, on 11/25/2008, -2/+8Am I the only person that believes that some classics should not be remade? Hollywood's track record with remakes is shaky at best, Who here saw Poseidon adventure? I know I didn't bother with it.
While staying too true to the original script isn't completely necessary, adding plot twists, changing genders of lead characters, and etc often is the norm. To me this cheapens the final product, and is a insult to the original that it is based on.
Remaking forbidden planet? I just hope that Robbie the Robot is not a complete CGI job, I'm not saying they need to reuse the original, but CGI is completely over used and has cheapened special effects in movies. They should atleast have full size suit/animatonic Robbie to use in 1/2 the scenes. CGI is best used to clean up traditional special effects, not to replace them completely. - WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+6Maybe if Hollywood made something worth watching, we'd actually *pay* to see it.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6Terminated.
- Lucifugerising, on 11/25/2008, -0/+6Robocop is not being remade, this new film is a sequel.
The director made this announcement awhile back. - mywhitenoise, on 11/25/2008, -1/+6I think I'll be the first to report and block you.
- ScubaSt3ve, on 11/25/2008, -14/+19RoboCop - it's about damn time.
- estee0703, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- vango, on 11/25/2008, -3/+8I hope Creature from the Black Lagoon actually has some black people in it this time, racists!
- IphtashuFitz, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5How many times do old classics like Frankenstein have to be remade? There's been probably close to a dozen remakes ever since the original, not to mention tons of spinoffs like "Bride of", "Son of", etc.
Granted, Young Frankenstein is a freakin' classic. - HalsMyPal, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5if your implying that we are living in an era of censorship and Fahrenheit 451 is against censorship think again. Its about society's lack of knowledge and creative thought not about the government censoring for political gain but rather because the society as a whole doesn't understand the value of thought.
but either way it i want to see this movie happen, in good hands. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+5Just as long as Arnold Schwartenegger isnt in the movie, T4 should be ok. Arnold just likes playing the good guy and im sorry, he kicked ass when he was a T-800 killing machine. The only cool way to bring Arnold back is to somehow have our team stuble upon a living skin lab where theyre using the real human for tissue samples. I know the cyborgs would milk humans for their blood to make the tissue, but it always came from a donor. Arnold could play the actual donor or template for the earlier T-800s. He would sit in a locked table whispering "Re-electe me.... plz re-elect me!!!".
- versualize, on 11/25/2008, -2/+6A thumbs down would have been sufficient IMO.
- TheMachine1, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4"Forbidden Planet" I saw that not long ago on TV and I was rather impressed with that 1956 scifi effort.
- thenativeraver, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Am I the only one that thought of this?
http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/75264 - redmannine, on 11/25/2008, -3/+7they're going to Ruin all of them!
- darkcompass, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Im not sure I want a remake of Forbidden Planet. I love that film, some films just need to be left alone.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -1/+5Some of us do. There's not one good idea on that entire list but a few of them are extremely bad ideas. Have you seen the trailer for the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still? It's horrible. The original movie is a classic and doesn't need to be remade. It's the same for When Worlds Collide and Forbidden Planet. The originals are so good and so well done that the current crop of people in Hollywood won't be able to even come close to the quality of the originals.
It's time for these people in Hollywood to stop cannibalizing the classic films. - BotchaMcCoola, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Good points. It will be tough to top Forbidden Planet on many scores. I'd drop the corny cook character, add more nude shots of the heroine, play some flashbacks of the last days of the Krell, and see what kind of new Monster of the ID might be dreamed up.
- Quaterni0n, on 11/25/2008, -1/+5Your comment history indicates that you're an even bigger Epic Fail of a virgin.
- mixxo, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4You're new here aren't you?
- tusseyd, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Is it possible to improve on "Forbidden Planet"?
- PhillyMJS, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4...should be burned, and everyone involved in their production beaten with a tube sock full of quarters.
- Samurai77, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Shouldn't that be... "Keanu" barada nikto.
/s - Samurai77, on 11/25/2008, -0/+4Not by a long shot, I hate 'em too.
- anixmander, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Nope, you aren't the only one.
- saikyan, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3I think the only time a remake is warranted is when the original idea was solid, but the execution was not.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -1/+4If you look at today's crop of directors you won't find any as capable of telling a good story as Robert Wise was. I don't think that most people realize just how good this movie was. The remake is going to be a disaster.
- messmerizer, on 11/26/2008, -0/+3you all got trolled
- Samurai77, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Maybe a little overdue? This is the only one I'd see anyway I hate remakes for the most part. Anyone have an actual new idea for a movie anymore?
- banderwocky, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Holy crap. This terrifies me but at the same time peaks my curiosity. Westworld, Logans run, Black lagoon! Damn.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+3Good. Go to the video store and rent Truffaut's version. There are no better hands than his.
