- Trustthedust, on 01/17/2008, -7/+50The best thing you can do is try to ignore the hype. it is a cool movie, but don't expect to have your mind blown.
- Tyr7BE, on 01/17/2008, -4/+36Nothing is resolved in the end? If a gigantic monster started tearing apart your city, what guarantee do you have that things are going to get resolved in the end? If your complaint is that the writers didn't go with the angle of 'brilliant but misunderstood scientist singlehandedly saves the city by finding and exploiting the monster's one weakness, and in doing so saves the day and gets the girl', then maybe this movie isn't for you. May I recommend 'Independence Day' instead.
- Ginseng8, on 01/17/2008, -5/+34It's pretty simple actually; it's a cool new movie that has a unique style to it. Therefore I am going to see it.
- removesstains, on 01/17/2008, -3/+28If it didn't have Eva Longoria naked in it, then all ten of those reasons don't matter.
- kazoomaloo, on 01/17/2008, -7/+29I'm just excited for when every 15th story on Digg isn't some Cloverfield marketing BS.
- quigles3000, on 01/17/2008, -5/+25I'm not gonna bother responding to your first three points, since those are all opinion-based and I don't feel like arguing about that.
However, in regards to there being "nothing resolved," that's what I thought was cool about Cloverfield. It's not a traditional movie. They weren't trying to make some standard genre picture where you find out everything there is to know about what's going on, and then they escape the monster and everybody sings and dances and hugs each other. They were putting it from the perspective of a group of people who DON'T know what's going on, thus making you one of those people. - wbbb617, on 01/17/2008, -3/+17Minor Spoilers. Pretty much just general concepts that you probably already know from trailers. But a few details are clarified/elaborated-on beyond what you most likely know.
- inactive, on 01/17/2008, -0/+14Snape kills the monster
- xXGeechXx, on 01/17/2008, -7/+17Hype made me think the re-make of Godzilla was the greatest movie ever...
Time made me realize how ***** stupid it actually was... - wilcox1010, on 01/17/2008, -1/+11So I guess if you downloaded this movie it would be a cam cam?
- Lacero, on 01/17/2008, -2/+11"(even if it is *****, they have done a good job marketing the movie with their adverts)"
yes, that's an awesome reason to see a flick. - lydecker, on 01/17/2008, -4/+13Thank you for that incredibly detailed analysis.
- kingmanic, on 01/17/2008, -0/+9If you look at peoples real reactions to disaster or even day to day behavior you'd conclude people dont' make much sense.
- GeneralGore, on 01/17/2008, -3/+11It should have been titled "10 Ways to Use the Cloverfield Hype to Get Page Views".
- Premier, on 01/17/2008, -5/+13Sounds like someone was paid to write that biased article
- Camgore, on 01/17/2008, -4/+12Finally a movie thats not a remake of something! Definitely stoked.
- Tyr7BE, on 01/17/2008, -0/+8Dude, that's Godzilla. You know, how he's talking about Godzilla and how bad that movie sucked, so he puts up a picture of Godzilla?
- SpykerSpeed, on 01/17/2008, -2/+10Agreed. Hollywood needs to start throwing more money at riskier ideas, otherwise we just get the same boring movies over and over.
- kensavage, on 01/17/2008, -5/+13where's over here?
- ZigVicious, on 01/17/2008, -0/+7Attack its weakspot for massive damage!
- yfguitarist, on 01/17/2008, -0/+7*SPOILERS* Cloverfield is actually the name of the monster's sled from when it was a child.
- norman619, on 01/17/2008, -0/+7Exactly. Besides you don't usually get the idiots who like to talk the the damned screen at matinees.
- DinosWillDie13, on 01/17/2008, -0/+7wrong wrong wrong wrong. The Host was awesome. If this matches The Host I will be pleasantly surprised, but I get the feeling that Cloverfield will have much more positive view of the governments reaction than The Host did.
- SpectralSounds, on 01/17/2008, -0/+6Ive reported you in every one of your threads/responses... and buried your submission. You are a ***** spamming loser.
- juniorb, on 01/17/2008, -0/+6I'll waste my money on whatever I want.
- loganarcher, on 01/18/2008, -2/+7Thank (insert diety of choice here) that this doesn't follow the generic Hollywood formula. After watching movies that spoon feed you the entire plot with saccharine coated endings that are supposed to make you feel better, it's nice to see something different...
- FishHammer, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5the monster kills people
- norman619, on 01/17/2008, -1/+6That's "I couldn't care less."
If you are going to use the expression you could at least state it properly. - Kronos6948, on 01/17/2008, -3/+8Go to a matinee, save yourself a couple of dollars.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 01/17/2008, -0/+5> "What about my other body parts during the movie?"
That'll cost extra. - inactive, on 01/18/2008, -0/+5spoiler!
They were in New York all along. - Scottamus, on 01/18/2008, -0/+4Anyone notice this website was created about 9 days before it was submitted? Just to hype this movie. That's some marketing there.
http://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=alwayswatchin ... - quigles3000, on 01/17/2008, -4/+8Hey, there's a difference between marketing BS and a fanboy-gasm circle jerk. This is the latter. Get it straight.
- Robozilla, on 01/18/2008, -1/+5OMG THIS MOVIE WAS ***** AMAZING.
- alphgeek, on 01/18/2008, -0/+4I went to the premiere of Phantom Menace when it came out. As the end credits rolled my mate, a huge fricken star wars fan, stood up and gave a one-man standing ovation. It was the most ***** surreal thing I have ever seen. Even the people dressed as ewoks cringed down in their seats when he started clapping.
- TwineHornet, on 01/18/2008, -1/+4I'm sorry, but I seriously don't know how anyone cannot love this film. This is the BEST ***** FILM I HAVE EVER SEEN AND I AM STICKING TO IT, YOU MORONS. Go see it.
- norman619, on 01/17/2008, -4/+7Not a remake? They can say it till they are blue in the face it's still a Godzilla movie. They only question is whether or not it sucks.
- zapperdude60, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4Snakes on a Plane anyone? Nah, this has to be better than that.
- estacado, on 01/17/2008, -6/+9They clearly had a sequel in mind when they made this movie. At the end of the movie, I went "That's it?".
It's a love story with the monster as a sideshow. Yes you get to see the monster, but it doesn't even touch on what the monster is, where did it come from, why is it attacking Manhattan, etc. I didn't go to see the movie just to see a monster being hit by missiles, but that's what the movie really is. Who gives a ***** about the love story, I want the monster to be the star of the movie, not a bunch of yuppies with relationship problems.
A real disappointment. Not worth my 10 bucks. - estacado, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3Here's the real spoiler:
One of them actually survives. - folkitup069, on 01/18/2008, -1/+4Epic movie
- juniorb, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3Because Signs was the first movie to focus on people dealing with an otherworldly event. Close Encounters of the Third Kind would be what then?
Cannibal Holocaust did the "found footage" thing a decade before before Blair Witch. - lcmatt, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4Stop spamming the same article you submitted over and over again.
- liquidkore, on 01/17/2008, -1/+4If you are trying to spoil it for people, you fail completely. From the very first minute it's obvious they all die because it states that the army recovered the footage at the scene.
- estacado, on 01/17/2008, -0/+3SPOILER
I read about that too, but that's not what I meant. One of them actually managed to escape from the island. - brufleth, on 01/18/2008, -0/+2Thanks. Sounds lame.
- inactive, on 01/17/2008, -0/+2But what about the portal reference?
- SilentRamble42, on 01/18/2008, -0/+2Remember when Hollywood was pregnant with a baby, then Michael Bay took a coat hanger and made Transformers?
- brufleth, on 01/18/2008, -0/+2After reading the spoiler the one that really sticks out is that what they are doing makes no sense. They tried to make it seem so real by having it from the camera's perspective but then they had the characters doing completely unbelievable things.
- hijinksensue, on 01/18/2008, -0/+2The monster is a sexual predator:
