- tonicboy, on 11/07/2008, -1/+21Come on now, show some love for Brandon Lee in The Crow! Fantastic movie, brilliant performance by Lee.
- mal1964, on 11/07/2008, -0/+15Come on now, show some love for Brandon Lees dad Bruce Lee in Enter the Dragon! Fantastic movie, brilliant performance by Lee.
- barktwiggs, on 11/07/2008, -0/+14Oliver Reed's performance as Proximo on Gladiator deserves a mention.
- lemercier, on 11/06/2008, -0/+14Raul Julia was an amazing actor
- omgdiaf, on 11/07/2008, -2/+14EPIC FAIL. No Brandon or Bruce Lee?
- protodon, on 11/07/2008, -0/+12This list was all about putting Heath Ledger at # 1, wasn't it?
- AtraNoxVII, on 11/07/2008, -1/+13Hold up!
Where the heck is Bruce Lee and Enter the Dragon? - bordlin, on 11/06/2008, -1/+12I'm assuming the one-two punch of John Candy in Wagons East and Chris Farley in Almost Heroes was just too depressing to warrant a mention.
- RobotKeaton, on 11/07/2008, -3/+12No Weekend At Bernies? Laaaame.
- rgladstein, on 11/07/2008, -0/+9Lugosi's chiropractor double in Plan 9 has a few scenes in which he has to run, and of course he can't keep his arm over his face while he's running. He didn't look anything like Lugosi.
- inactive, on 11/06/2008, -2/+11FYI: Posthumous means dead :(
- theetoecutter, on 11/07/2008, -1/+8Agreed. RIP Brandon Lee. Cool ***** movie.
- JazzClutchkick, on 11/07/2008, -0/+6Bruce Lee is probably one of the only actors to actually appear dead in his film. In Game of Death they used footage from his actual funeral processional when his character "faked" his death. Now that is actually posthumously performing...and really really creepy.
- daschupa, on 11/07/2008, -0/+6FYI: Posthumorous means Eddie Murphy's career after Coming To America.
- Conwaysb0718, on 11/07/2008, -1/+7"Phil Hartman in what would prove to be his last film role following the comedian’s shocking death in a murder-suicide that also claimed the life of his wife, Brynn."
last i heard, it was his wife who did it... - 5xSTUN, on 11/07/2008, -0/+6Well, yeah, technically is means after a person's been buried, but yeah, dead.
- KSUdesigner, on 11/07/2008, -1/+7RTFA
- aresef, on 11/07/2008, -2/+8The headline is misleading. These are performances released posthumously. Not performances performed posthumously. If Bernie Mac rose from the dead for a zombie film, that would be a posthumous performance. Just saying.
- OutlawSundown, on 11/07/2008, -0/+5
Network is an awesome movie... and way ahead of it's time. - mikbunn, on 11/07/2008, -1/+6Why read when you can comment ignorantly?
- Munceenuts, on 11/07/2008, -0/+5I'm going to have to say at least 11,663 people.
http://digg.com/celebrity/Comic_actor_Bernie_Mac_d ... - Shakermaker, on 11/07/2008, -0/+4No Oliver Reed!??!?!?!?!?
For shame...
Something tells me Bernie Mac's last role will not be quite as "hailed" as Heath Ledger's was... - AtraNoxVII, on 11/07/2008, -0/+4Nah it was about showing that there are good movies, made by very talented actors that do not get to see their own work reach fruition because of tragedy...and about putting Heath Ledger as #1.
- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -1/+4I don't know why I always do this, but when I see posthumous, I always read it as, "posthumorous", then double-take and realize it's not as funny as I first thought.
- ArmandoM, on 11/07/2008, -1/+4That's why they call it a "murder-suicide"
- doublefelix, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3Man, I love The Deer Hunter. John Cazale also played Fredo in Godfather II.
- shadowman99, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3BIG OVERSIGHT - Clark Gable died three days after filming wrapped on "The Misfits". It was also the final film of Marilyn Monroe. It's remembered as a great performance by Gable, and Monroe's finest performance period.
- AtraNoxVII, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3You are correct sir.
- UberNick, on 11/07/2008, -0/+3If that were true, weekend at Bernie's would top the list!
After death, my man. - sooperskip, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2In contrast to all the crap film lists that Wired has put out lately, this one felt researched and earnest. A very impressive and well thought out list. Well done.
- tonicboy, on 11/08/2008, -0/+2Touche my friend, touche.
- sc0ttius, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2I was about to say what about Brandon Lee, but then I saw everyone on the blog already posted that....
- doublefelix, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2I'm mad as hell it took someone so long to mention this.
- doublefelix, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2 The writer was assuming his audience was media-savvy enough to put that in context.
- sodariot, on 11/07/2008, -0/+2Everyone?
- lroche, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Wasn't this same list posted for Dark Knight too?
- Elranzer, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1About six parent comments up.
- Elranzer, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Except The Dark Knight was not Heath's last role.
- wampalord, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1FOR I BEHELD SATAN AS HE FELL FROM HEAVEN! LIKE LIGHTNING!
- Conwaysb0718, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1well aware... but the way they word it makes it sound like his wife was just a victim, and not the one who killed him. there could have been more than just the two of them involved.
- MazdaEric, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2Too bad one of his last rolls was the Street Fighter flick
- CalvinMonk, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2Weekend at Bernies 2 > 1
- JazzClutchkick, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1Yeah but like him or not the man was funny.
- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -3/+4This list screams of someone sitting around thinking "Man, my Joker costume on Halloween was so BADASS and unique! Hrm... so how can I make an article about Heath Ledger?"
- inactive, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I didn't know Oliver Reed until I saw Gladiator, his performance was amazing and unique imho, he died and they used CGI to complete his scenes. At least they didn't recast the part.
- brsteve88, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2No James ***** Dean? Buried.
- Greengoo, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1What was Chris Farley's posthumous performance?
He had great movies, but there wasn't like... one GREAT movie released AFTER he died, was there?
Isn't that the definition of posthumous? - DigTheDoug, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I did not know that. Creepy and awesome. Beats the ***** out of a CG Marlon Brando.
- Elranzer, on 11/07/2008, -0/+1I feel bad to say this but Heath wasn't greatest actor ever who died. Maybe in Digg Unreality, where fanboyisms become fact, logic gets thrown out the window and Pedobear is king.
