10 Movies We Want to See This Summer
thedeadbolt.com — Thank GOD summer is here. You can keep the chirping birds and baseball games, we're spending the season in the cool air conditioning of the movie theater. We're ready to play favorites. So, on that note, here are the ten movies we're most excited to see this summer, in order, followed by five biggies that make us nervous.

- SpillReviews, on 04/24/2008, -1/+26Does seem like there are a lot of good ones
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+14How about the Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia?
- stuffradio, on 04/24/2008, -2/+2Also what about the new Get Smart movie?
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+14How about the Chronic(what?)cles of Narnia?
- sportscrzy33, on 04/24/2008, -12/+8I don't know about the #1 though, but I would have to agree this is the best lineup of summer movies I may have ever seen!
- ryan850, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1Does the fact that I don't want to see any of these mean I'm old?
- typicalusername, on 04/24/2008, -3/+4No, it means you've got taste, my friend. The only movie that is going to be any good on that list is Batman. The rest is, in reality, going to be crap. Hellboy2? Hellboy2!? Are you kidding me? If you didn't get enough of the first one (which I did), this is just for you...
I want to confiscate this dude's nerd card...- rompom7, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Same, but I'll be seeing Indiana Jones too, because even if the movie doesn't have the magic of the classics, I'll still be entertained for 120 minutes.
All the other movies look pretty lame.

- Marist, on 04/24/2008, -25/+5What about Speed Racer?
- killbert24, on 04/24/2008, -4/+2People are afraid because it seems like Speed Racer was made for children 5-12 years old. I think it'll be good though.
- riversc, on 04/24/2008, -2/+10speed racer was on the list.. on the "5 That Make Us Nervous" part.
- Husky217, on 04/24/2008, -2/+14looks terrible imo.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Early review:
http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36483
Sounds pretty hot.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Early review:
- typicalusername, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2I'm about as excited for Speed Racer, as much as I am for a frontal lobotabmy. The 'ski brothers with their Anime influence have made this movie FAR too busy. There's too many colors in everything, it looks like they picked the most saturated color settings in Photoshop and painted over everything. Absolutely horrible!
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Speed Racer was an anime.
They've essentially made a live-action anime.- typicalusername, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1I didn't have a freaking color pallete that looked like a circus clown painted it though. They've crossed the line by like, 5 feet.
- Charlotte_Web, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Speed Racer was an anime.
- yanksn6, on 04/24/2008, -6/+8I think Hulk should be good as for it will follow the TV series unlike the latest one that came out a few years ago
- solidus636, on 04/24/2008, -5/+3Yeah, The Incredible Hulk looks like it's gonna be awesome...I hope it's nothing like the first one. That was horrible.
- CaptMonkey, on 04/24/2008, -2/+5That's not to mention the confirmed appearance of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and at least one reference to the Captain America super-soldier serum, which means it will be laying the groundwork for an Avengers movie!
- TriSight, on 04/24/2008, -0/+15I can't say that I've ever seen a movie with Edward Norton that I didn't like. So I have high hopes on The Incredible Hulk.
- tehHardcorez, on 04/24/2008, -1/+0keeping the faith...just sayin..
- bytor4232, on 04/24/2008, -5/+3Go watch Death to Smoochy. That might change your mind ;)
- rootneg2, on 04/24/2008, -0/+8what?!
Death to Smoochy was hilarious! - BoneheadFarker, on 04/24/2008, -1/+0Meh...it was funny the first time through. Second time, not so much.
- rootneg2, on 04/24/2008, -0/+8what?!
- whatsrequired, on 04/24/2008, -4/+21"You're a TEACHER?!"

- brownsound00, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3indiana jones.
- tjv1tjv1, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1hah... what is that from again!?!
- MaGCoL, on 04/24/2008, -3/+25Dugg for Indiana Jones.
- hockeyfighter09, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3Samesies
- sjohnson0881, on 04/24/2008, -16/+5#1 Iron man #2 Hulk #3 hellboy
awww yeah!- AshamedAmerican, on 04/24/2008, -1/+42#1 The Dark Knight
There, fixed it for ya. - bhavinp, on 04/24/2008, -9/+3Hellboy, comon gimme a break. That movie was absolute *****.
- mikepictor, on 04/24/2008, -4/+4you are mistaken sir. Hellboy rules, and the trailer for the sequel looks like it could rule even more.
- IglooBurner, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2the director is incredible, if he pulls this off correctly and let his imagination run wild, like he does with his foreign films, Hellboy 2 will be number 1 this summer.
- icepick602, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1I don't know why you're being dugg down, hell boy was a ***** movie
- edwartica, on 04/24/2008, -2/+2I'm going to stand outside the theater during the premier of Iron man, dressed as Captain America, with a huge sign that says "Tony Stark Murdered me!"
- AshamedAmerican, on 04/24/2008, -1/+42#1 The Dark Knight
- BFNews, on 04/24/2008, -13/+5Good list, but Indy should be in the top 2, and Wall-E much lower...
- wacomwacoff, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5Wall-E's getting huge buzz, and every Pixar movie's been a huge hit so far. I think it deserves to be excited about.
- edwartica, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1I liked it better when they called it "Short Circuit."
- wacomwacoff, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5Wall-E's getting huge buzz, and every Pixar movie's been a huge hit so far. I think it deserves to be excited about.
- richgustavson, on 04/24/2008, -6/+11They're dead on with The Happening. Really interesting concept and trailer, but ohhhh M. Night..... I can tell he's gonna ***** it up somehow...
- phoenixp3k, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3With M. Night Shyamalan you have to toss a coin and hope it falls on the side of success. Unbreakable, Sixth Sense, Sings vs The Village, Lady in the Water
- gmprunner, on 04/25/2008, -0/+1lol "Sings"
- Maytel, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0Lady in the Water and Signs was boring.
Unbreakable, 6th sense and The village were pretty good.
- o0joshua0o, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1Signs was an abomination. I really liked The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and The Village, though.
- mikepictor, on 04/24/2008, -3/+3Lady in the water was quite good actually, it was just a departure from his style that he gave to the rest. People expected yet another M Night movie, with certain conventions and a twist ending, and didn't get it. Doesn't make it a bad film.
I actually really liked signs as well, though not everyone does. People have to realize, the movie isn't about an alien invasion. It's about people reacting to an invastion, and trying to cope. It's a character drama.- MASTERPL, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3Wrong! Lady in the water was a horrible movie. Did you watch it sober? If not, maybe that's what I was missing.
Master of Disguise is good compared to Lady in the Water - SpencerMc, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1It was good. As a comedy. Seriously, I had a group of friends I would get together with about once a week, stock up on some alcohol and various other sundries, and watch the worst movies we could find. Pulse was a pretty close second, but Lady in the Water was without a doubt our finest moment.
- MASTERPL, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3Wrong! Lady in the water was a horrible movie. Did you watch it sober? If not, maybe that's what I was missing.
- Jektal, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Signs is a just a religious story. I really really hated Signs and couldn't wrap my mind around how anyone involved ever thought it would be good until someone pointed that out.
The entire plot revolves solely around Mel Gibson's character finding his faith again. It is a direct hand-of-god thing, where everything in the world is orchestrated for one and only one reason: teaching a disenchanted believer to forgive god and reaccept him into his life.
As a non-believer, that just makes me hate the movie in a new way, but at least I can understand it now.- o0joshua0o, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5I came to this realization as I watched it the first time, and this is why it made me want my money back. It was really a bait-and-switch. You think you're going to see a Sci-Fi movie, and you get a hokey religious story that goes out of its way to portray atheists offensively.
- mikepictor, on 04/24/2008, -3/+3Lady in the water was quite good actually, it was just a departure from his style that he gave to the rest. People expected yet another M Night movie, with certain conventions and a twist ending, and didn't get it. Doesn't make it a bad film.
- jjustice, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Besides, could he possibly have picked a more vague movie title? Oh, so this movie pertains to an event that occurs in some period of time? Awesome.
- sab0tage, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Lets hope he doesn't do another cameo.
- phoenixp3k, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3With M. Night Shyamalan you have to toss a coin and hope it falls on the side of success. Unbreakable, Sixth Sense, Sings vs The Village, Lady in the Water
- amanilaenvelope, on 04/24/2008, -5/+5im gonna have so many nerdgasms while while watching these movies dude, my head is gonna asplode.
- Alix7, on 04/24/2008, -18/+6Angelina Jolie looks horrible in "Wanted" REALLY REALLY UGLY
DO. NOT. WANT.- scallon, on 04/24/2008, -4/+19Not being homophobic or trying to offend here, but you do realize that saying you wouldn't sleep with Angelina Jolie immediately qualifies you as being gay right? That's fine and all, I just wanted to make sure you understood the gravity of what you said.
- Alix7, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1***** you *****
- silversword990, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3But the movie 'Wanted' itself looks terrible.
- mikepictor, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5Ok, I hadn't heard of the movie until this list. So I watched the trailer, and YOU ARE BLIND.
You don't want, ok, that's your choice (though a strange one), but to attempt to lay the word ugly is a fallacy so big it would make the baby jesus cry.
She is smoking hot.
- scallon, on 04/24/2008, -4/+19Not being homophobic or trying to offend here, but you do realize that saying you wouldn't sleep with Angelina Jolie immediately qualifies you as being gay right? That's fine and all, I just wanted to make sure you understood the gravity of what you said.
- FizzanoMatrix, on 04/24/2008, -3/+5"In fact, seeing the trailer was the funniest thing about Good Luck Chuck's run in theaters." Um, whoever says "Good Luck Chuck" in that situation instead of Rambo 4 has some issues.
- InThePants, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Rambo 4 was the best movie ever, don't compare it with Dane Cook's garbage.
- FizzanoMatrix, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I was saying question yourself if you actually saw Dane Cook's ***** movie, not comparing it to Rambo... Obviously lost you on that.
- InThePants, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Rambo 4 was the best movie ever, don't compare it with Dane Cook's garbage.
- iamyak, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2Why does it have to be ten?
- nymphetamine, on 04/24/2008, -2/+11Because you touch yourself at night.
- iamyak, on 04/24/2008, -0/+11Hey, get away from my windows.
- edwartica, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1No, that's why the dinosaurs died.
- mCanada, on 04/24/2008, -1/+8because 10.325 wouldn't make sense.
- nymphetamine, on 04/24/2008, -2/+11Because you touch yourself at night.
- whatthefu, on 04/24/2008, -7/+53I'm definitely looking more forward to The Dark Knight than I am to Wall-E.
- Maytel, on 04/25/2008, -0/+0I really want to see both, but Batman should be #1. Always.
- AshamedAmerican, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1610 top 10 lists that will get repeated on digg.
- AtiimKiambu, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3At least it's not cracked.com or omglists.com
- skippyoh, on 04/24/2008, -2/+6I'll see any movie that was thought up under the influence of a pot-brownie.
- paulishuku, on 04/24/2008, -10/+3I think Hancock is going to be awesome. Wall-E I think deserves #1 personally.
But yeah, the Hulk should replace one of those movies. - eliburford, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1I Want to Believe! Oh, and TDK of course.
:) - nico623, on 04/24/2008, -0/+13The Fall !! From the cinematographer of the Cell looks badass as hell
trailer: (not RR) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQt0QjWHUjY- punkcat, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4interesting, hadn't heard of it before.
- nycmac247, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2"M" is for morphine!!!
- trp5023, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5Looks very stylish! The use of very prominent primary colors on a washed out background was cool, reminded me of Hero...
- weizilla, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2i found the preview a few weeks ago. it does look really good!
- vik0612, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0it's actually the same director as The Cell, not the cinematographer.
- sfacets, on 04/24/2008, -2/+11WE want to see? If you say so random website, if you say so...
- TriSight, on 04/24/2008, -0/+20Wall-E reminds me of the 80s.. it reminds me of Johnny 5 and Nintendo's Rob the Robot.
- andrewgreene, on 04/24/2008, -0/+20Ummm...can we still technically call them "The Wachowski Brothers"?
- levitron, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I assume you are referring to the "Lana Wachowski" rumour?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wachowski_brothers#La ...- rootneg2, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Wachowski-Sex-Chang ...
Well, the "denial's" aren't terribly credible either.
There certainly hasn't been any "sex change operation" yet, and probably no official name change (usually the *last* two things to occur in a gender transition); and there is nothing to say that it *is* a full out gender transition. But it's not like Larry is the one denying everything, Fox has clear motives to keep things like that out of the public eye for the whole "family image".
Furthermore: is true, isn't true, partially true; who really cares?
- rootneg2, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Wachowski-Sex-Chang ...
- levitron, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I assume you are referring to the "Lana Wachowski" rumour?
- SketchaMPM, on 04/24/2008, -4/+3Step Brothers, Wanted and Midnight Meat Train...but no Hulk, Speed Racer or X-FILES? All the other lists I've seen had X-Files and Hulk at least. Buried.
- SlabbaJabba, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7I'm guessing you stopped at page 2.
- SculderFiles, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1XF should've placed on the list somewhere, instead of just been "mentioned." I agree.
- morningchai, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Just saw another TV commercial for Speed Racer... and it looks a lot stupider than I expected. Looks like "Shark Boy & Lava Girl". Ugh. It's too bad because I was actually looking forward to this one after I saw some of the early trailers.
- homah, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1Looks like garbage for the most part. God, I hate summer blockbusters. The best movies always come out at the end of the year.
- Eddiecoaster, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1yea I agree. this looks like a boring summer for movies.
- TheSpook, on 04/24/2008, -3/+4Thank GOD? I'd thank the revolution of the earth around the sun.
- drachemorder, on 04/24/2008, -6/+15Buried for ignoring Prince Caspian.
- bytor4232, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7No kidding. That movie is going to be fantastic.
- brainboy77, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2please tell me you guys are being sarcastic, the whole narnia series is the biggest piece of ***** i ever read.
- DeFex, on 04/24/2008, -6/+4wait for our article in September "10 movies that disappointed us this summer"
why not wait till it comes out on DVD
no idiots talking on phones
no idiots clapping
no rip off prices.
no brats.
no gas-parking etc.
and best of all if it sucked you will know.and you can save your time.- Zombi, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2You don't get out much do you?
- supercooladdict, on 04/24/2008, -3/+4Ah the movie theater...I miss the glowing cell phones in my peripheral vision, the ringing of cellphones, the surround sound of screaming babies, the kicking of the back of my seat by the person that thinks they're 8ft tall, the constant absurd laughing of mentally ill retards, oh and the $5,000.00 pop corn.
- bytor4232, on 04/24/2008, -1/+14Man, I'm going to be living at the theater this year:
Iron Man
Speed Racer
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
War, Inc. (aka Gross Point Blank II)
Kung Fu Panda
The Incredible Hulk
The Happening (Zooey Deschanel, Markey Mark, and Leguizamo? WIN!)
Get Smart
Hancock
The Dark Knight
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Tropic Thunder
Why can't they space these out!!! And I'll get no rest this fall with Death Race, Harry Potter, Madagascar II, Quantum of Solace, and possibly the new Punisher movie.- homercles337, on 04/24/2008, -2/+4Wow, you have some really bad taste in movies.
- farfegnugen, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1I don't know how much tickets cost in your area, but I wish I had $140 to spend on the movies... That list is pretty dead-on for what I want to see.
- dwright99, on 04/24/2008, -3/+2I think I'll just stay in the backyard and barbecue this summer.
- PyroChan, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1ill be in the backyard too, because im gonna be drinkin your moms milkshakes.
- drmangrum, on 04/24/2008, -7/+2Wall-E? Seriously?
Iron-man
The Dark Knight
The Incredible Hulk
That's all.- rspeed, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You forgot something:
"Worst… list… ever."- drmangrum, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Not the worst list. Some of those movies i've never heard of. Some look interesting, i just wouldn't classify them in a top 10 to go see in the movies. When it costs upwards of $20/person to see a movie, I can wait for the DVD for most.
- rspeed, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1You forgot something:
- kylere, on 04/24/2008, -8/+4Umm the first Hellboy sucked, digg me down if you are a fanboi, but most of them seemed to agree with me. I am not looking forward to it at all. Now, Iron Man, that I am looking forward to, but Indiana Jones? I refuse to see movies about the time they have to start using V in roman numbers.
- timusca, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5I'm not a fanboi [sic] at all... and frankly didn't care for the first one. But I'm still digging you down because digging down ≠ fanboyism.
- kylere, on 04/25/2008, -1/+1It does if you are a whiny fanboi and call all your friends to jump on!
- timusca, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5I'm not a fanboi [sic] at all... and frankly didn't care for the first one. But I'm still digging you down because digging down ≠ fanboyism.
- barddzen, on 04/24/2008, -7/+3Buried, Wall-E as #1. Pffft
- chaos7, on 04/24/2008, -2/+3lame list no digg
- hammr, on 04/24/2008, -0/+11Buried for no "Get Smart"
- mcballz, on 04/24/2008, -1/+7Indiana Jones at spot # 5?
Hellboy at spot # 2??
Wall-E at # 1??
Not sure if I agree with the order of this list... but I dugg for the movies you did choose. - TheMarvel, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2Johnny 5 > Wall-E
- insanewriters, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3This is the first summer I can remember where there are too many movies I want to see.
And for you Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) fans out there, the movie adaptation of Choke is coming out this summer too! - cleric85, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5Wanted looks like a ***** pile of *****. It seems like Angelina Jolie has two characters she can play, Angelina Jolie and Angelina Jolie with an accent. I hope I'm not alone on this one.
- korvan504521, on 04/26/2008, -0/+1It's too bad, would be interesting to see her in a movie where she doesn't do the whole "tough girl" schtick.
- pkon, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Personally I am a big fan of Pixar movies and I enjoyed watching Finding Nemo, The Incredibles etc. So I'm not sure whether I'll see it in the theatres but I am really looking forward to watching Wall E. The thing that I enjoy the most about Pixar movies is the amount of imagination and creativity that is put into every film they have created.
Besides that I think I'll probably watch all those movies on DVD besides Iron man. Now that movie looks awesome and they could not of picked a better guy to star as Iron man. - SquireCD, on 04/24/2008, -0/+12I'm not digging this, despite enjoying the article, and I'll tell you why -- I am fed up with web pages like NYT, New Yorker, MSNBC, and others that make you click "Next" for a second, third, or even forth page.
HEY, WEB DESIGNERS! THIS IS A WEB PAGE, NOT A BOOK! WE DON'T NEED MULTIPLE PAGES! IT WILL ALL FIT IN ONE LONG PAGE! IT IS ANNOYING TO FLIP PAGES ON A VIRTUAL BOOK!
So, yeah. I'm sorry, but I refuse to digg any story that makes you click 'next' to finish the article. It was good, but I just can't digg this.- trer, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2That's how they make more money.
- TriplePlay2425, on 04/24/2008, -3/+1Correct order: 1) Dark Knight 2) Iron man 3) Wanted 4) Indiana Jones 5) Hancock 6) Maybe Hellboy 2. And that's the end of the list. Step Brothers should NOT be on there because Will Ferrel is a talentless retard who is not funny.
- aaroninflash, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Dugg for wall-e
- bitrot, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2Am I the only one getting tired of all the comic book/superhero movies? Sure, there have been some good ones in the past few years, but I'm starting to feel like I've seen it all before.
- Witchbaby, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1INDIANA JONES!!!
The *coolest* anthropologist EVER...except me, of course. - Kinsbane, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I have to agree with them on Wall-E being #1 the most wanted to see movie.. more so than Dark Knight. While I am dying to drink in Ledger's Joker performance, Wall-E, for me, has that certain Pixar charm that made me watch Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., and Finding Nemo. I already know somewhat what Dark Knight is about, and where it will take me; but Wall-E? All I know is he meets a hot girl-robot who takes him on an awesome trip through outer space.
- MsGo, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Stepbrothers.
Really.
REALLY???
I was somewhat on board with his credibility until he admitted to being excited about the 2,789 version of an extended Will Ferrell skit. They should've stopped with Old School and Anchorman. Those two were the apex of his funny capabilities.
Pineapple Express looks like it will kick much ass, however. And yes, he gets an internet cookie for putting WALL-e at number one and including Clive Barker at all. - vik0612, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0Decent List. But... I'd replace Step Brothers with Get Smart.
