- Hypersapien, on 05/19/2008, -1/+71"Shooting the swordsman" was put in at the last minute. The script called for a big swordfight that led all over the village square. Harrison Ford wasn't feeling well that day and didn't feel up to it. He said to Spielberg, "Why don't I just shoot him?". Action, Cut, and Print, and one of the best shots in movie history is born.

Indiana Jones: Dad, head for the fireplace! - synthpop, on 05/19/2008, -0/+20no need t worry, it's not like Lucas has made bad casting choices in the past where the young actor ruined a movie.
no wait.. - sisiphus1985, on 05/19/2008, -0/+20I'm sorry son.. They got us.
Should have at least had an honorable mention - thisoneisunique, on 05/19/2008, -0/+20Japanese?
- ChzPlz, on 05/19/2008, -0/+19Great list. One of my favorite oddball moments was in The Last Crusade - the "X marks the spot" scene in the library/church with the confused librarian. Classic.
- Sornos, on 05/19/2008, -0/+18Did you have a seizure when writing hat?
- Phych, on 05/19/2008, -1/+18Buried for inaccuracy...all Indiana Jones moments were memorable.
- h37s3m, on 05/19/2008, -0/+17What about shooting through 10 nazis with one gun?

No time for love Dr. Jones. - sharkd, on 05/19/2008, -0/+13The moment itself is suspenseful -- the audience is anticipating that Hitler will recognize the diary for what it is, or Indy as an impostor -- but the foppish Fuhrer is more concerned about his cult of personality than the occult and pays no attention to the book or Indy.
- TheUngod, on 05/19/2008, -0/+12I think this list chose poorly
- sharkd, on 05/19/2008, -0/+12"...Bad dates."
- iheartartoo, on 05/19/2008, -1/+12Agreed. He's the only reason I'm nervous about this movie.
- mmaSENSEI, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11My favorite moment is in The Last Crusade when the tank goes over the edge and his father is mourning the loss of Indy. Indy walks up behind them and looks over the edge.
- factotum75, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11 The rope bridge scene deserves more than an honorable mention. That is one of the greatest moments in ANY action/adventure movie ever. Total balls out insanity/courage by Indy.
One of the best face gags ever on film is in "Temple" when Indy is talking and frustrated with Willie about the room that is closing in on Indy and Short Round ; "we are going to die!" That is some very funny *****. - trer, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11You mean the German guys face.
- paidhima, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11I don't see it as out of character. One of the coolest moments from the first movie is right at the beginning. When he's packing his stuff and talking to a nervous Marcus Brody, he pulls out his cloth-wrapped gun and unrolls it with a flourish into his hand. At the same time he tells Marcus, "You know what a careful guy I am." It establishes the gun's existence (it's not a surprise that he has it later in the movie, when we see it on his hip), his comfort with the gun, and the potential danger of the mission ahead. Besides, Indy is a scrapper, and the other guy is an obviously well-trained swordsman. I think it's reasonable to follow the character's thought process of, "I'm tired, I'm in too big of a rush, and that's a big damn sword."
- frostbyt, on 05/19/2008, -1/+12The best trilogy every made.
Hands down. - Sornos, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11Japanese guy?
- cadmiumpaint, on 05/19/2008, -2/+13I love Indiana Jones. The greatest action character of all time hands down. I don't care what reviews say, or what frustrated film school dropouts who blog from their video store job have to say, i can't wait for crystal skull it will be great.
- sharkd, on 05/19/2008, -0/+10It's not really out of character -- in most of the movies, he has a gun (either a .455 Webley or a .45 S&W, mostly).
The whip is iconic, but he's not above using a gun. - Zaggynl, on 05/19/2008, -0/+10I wish they'd make a movie of Indiana and the Fate of Atlantis :)
- sharkd, on 05/19/2008, -0/+10Meh. Okay list.
Notable Omissions:
* Raiders - desert truck chase
* Raiders - freighter cabin (Indy and Marion)
* Temple - snow rafting
* Temple - campfire
* Crusade - Indy's jump from the horse to the tank
* Crusade - dogfight/Charlemagne - Sornos, on 05/19/2008, -5/+15The site is still up for me, but for those who can't see it. A copy paste mirror.
It’s not until you look back at the original Indiana Jones trilogy that you realize just how many memorable moments there are in the series. To whittle that list of seminal moments down to just ten is excruciating, and it will be different for everyone.
These are the moments that stuck with us long after the credits rolled. They are shocking, humorous and exciting. Some have become part of the iconic legends (like the boulder) while others can be quoted in pop culture with no need of an explanation (like “No ticket!” ala Kevin Smith).
The reality is that the films overall are memorable and worth another look for any fan of the adventure genre. Here are our favorites…
The Last Crusade
10. “The three challenges” from The Last Crusade
Although much longer than a mere moment, this scene began the climax of the third movie, giving us some booby traps that had otherwise been absent from the script.
The Last Crusade
9. “The Jones boys tied up” from The Last Crusade
The addition of Sean Connery to the cast of the Indiana Jones saga was brilliant, and his chemistry with Harrison Ford was impeccable, as shown in this scene.
Temple of Doom
8. “The mine chase” from Temple of Doom
While The Last Crusade was the installment that spotlighted chase sequences, it was the breathtaking mine chase from Temple of Doom that was most exciting.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
7. “I hate snakes” from Raiders of the Lost Ark
What better way to demonstrate Indiana Jones’ loathing of snakes than to drop him into a pit of vipers?
The Last Crusade
6. “Hitler signs the diary” from The Last Crusade
Tongue-in-cheek humor has been a hallmark of these films, and it is demonstrated here when Indiana Jones has an unpredictable run-in with der Führer himself.
Temple of Doom
5. “Snake surprise and chilled monkey brains” from Temple of Doom
As a child watching these films in theaters on Saturday afternoon, nothing was more fun than the gross-out moments. That was taken to its fullest level in Temple of Doom with a feast at Pankot Palace.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
4. “Face melting” from Raiders of the Lost Ark
The climax of Raiders of the Lost Ark showed how shocking the series could be, and what better way to dispatch the Nazis than with lightning to the chest, face melting and exploding heads?
Temple of Doom
3. “Burn your heart out” from Temple of Doom
Our first look at the Temple of Doom where a young man is sacrificed by the Thuggee cult caused a furor about the film’s PG rating. But to the 13-year-old kid in a multiplex in Ohio, it was glorious.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. “Giant boulder” from Raiders of the Lost Ark
In reality, the entire opening sequence of Raiders is so full of moments, it’s hard to pull one out. But if we had to choose, the giant boulder climax to the scene is the most memorable.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
1. “Shooting the swordsman” from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom
The scene where Indy shoots the swordsman in Raiders easily got the most laughs in the theaters, as did the call-back in Temple of Doom when Indy realizes he doesn’t have a gun.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Raiders of the Lost ARk
“What’s black and white and red all over?” from Raiders of the Lost Ark – A Nazi in a propeller, natch!
Temple of Doom
“The rope bridge” from Temple of Doom – What would Indy do?
The Last Crusade
“No ticket!” from The Last Crusade – There’s better ways to get rid of Nazis, but none as funny. - xtinamo, on 05/19/2008, -0/+10No matter how many times I watch this I always lmao.
"That car belonged to my brother in-law."-Sallah, The Last Crusade
One of the best sidekicks of all time! I wonder if John Rhys-Davies' character is in Crystal Skull? - MrSketch, on 05/19/2008, -0/+9That's what happens when you start off with Episode I.
- sharkd, on 05/19/2008, -1/+9...Arc?
- Lososaurus, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8Did your girlfriend not have a childhood or something?

INDY: Are you trying to develop a sense of humor, or am I going deaf?
INDY:... What's that?
LAO: The Antidote.
INDY: To what?
LAO: To the poison you just drank, Dr. Jones. xD - o0joshua0o, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7"I should have sent it to the Marx Brothers!"
- inactive, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7gotta love Marcus Brody - got lost in his own museum.
- RandomEyes, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7I don't think it's possible to forget someone ripping a heart out with their bare hands
- DephexTwin, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7I hope you don't get things this wrong when you tell your girlfriend you love her.
- steelclash84, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7He no nuts. He's crazy!
- trollick, on 05/19/2008, -4/+11I love the one when this girl tell him she loves him and he says "I know".
- leonidas333, on 05/19/2008, -4/+10I introduced my girlfriend to the Indy movies this weekend (Ok she must be the last person on earth who had neve seen either the original Star Wars trilogy or the Indy flicks).
All are brilliant on their own right, but the Temple of Doom is my sentimental favorite.
Best scene (next to the Kali-ma heart ripping scene of course), is the chase seen in Lost Ark just after the fight scene that end with the airplane propeller fatality. That will go down in history as the best chase seen ever. - hermslice, on 05/19/2008, -0/+6HAHAHA
YOU CHEAT Dr. Jones.... - paidhima, on 05/19/2008, -0/+6That was not tongue-in-cheek. It was a bit creepy, but darkly humorous. There he is fighting Nazis for three movies and winds up running into the Big Boss himself. If Indy wasn't such a bad ass he would have ***** himself.
- PabloIV, on 05/19/2008, -1/+7He used to be great in Even Stevens
