- HtomSirveaux, on 07/04/2008, -2/+81Dugg for giving props to Children of Men.
- MidnightRIder77, on 07/04/2008, -1/+52I'm still wondering why Children of Men didn't get a Best Picture nomination. Proof the academy doesn't know *****. For me Children of Men would have been on their twice. The car scene was ***** intense as well.

Google Cache - Miamisun, on 07/05/2008, -2/+22The lack of the original Matrix is disturbing. It feels like people are so scared to feel like they are writing a "cliche" story that they are leaving it off altogether.
- btschul, on 07/05/2008, -1/+20Dugg for making Children of Men #1. That 15 min. take was the first thing I thought of when I read the title.
- 1gunners4, on 07/05/2008, -0/+9Before I even clicked on the link I thought "If this doesn't have the final sequence in Children of Men I'm burying it."
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+8The scene in the car is phenomenal too, it's like five minutes with no cuts (well, there were, but you can hardly tell unless you're scrutinizing it).
- Niubai, on 07/05/2008, -0/+7After I watched Matrix for the first time back in 1998 or 1999 (can't remember) I got that "wow" sensation. Just WOW, what a badass movie. How come a sci-fi movie be so philosophical and make you think a lot about how the things are, what is real. But then ... they shat all over with the second and the third ones. For me Matrix stopped at the first incredible movie.
- bobbknight, on 07/05/2008, -1/+7Just remember in the book Children of Men, it was the men that were shooting blanks.
- noumuon, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5i'm guessing you missed the part where he said he's only including movies from 2000+. l2read.
- Whackly, on 07/05/2008, -0/+5Hey! Everyone! Check it out! You know how there "always one of them?" Here he is.
- jameshighmore, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4Zing!
- Oetzi, on 07/05/2008, -1/+5You sir are an idiot. nBecause it feels slightly similar it copied it? And I think most people on this site have played Half-Life. Dumbass.
- Acglaphotis, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4i less than three you.
- morphinapg, on 07/05/2008, -1/+5Where's the beginning of casino royale? I thought that chase scene was incredible.
- paulvq, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4Are you kidding me? The Bourne Ultimatum alone won no less than five awards for its editing. The fast cuts were what made it unique.
- Seemefearme, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4Relevance 0
- buu2, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3RTFA!! The author clearly says this list is movies after 2000. Matrix came out in '98-99. Therefore it is ineligible for this list.
- HamSandwich, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4I don't think they copied Half-Life. Sure, there are similarities.... but they both borrow heavily from Orwell's 1984.
- doctorinfierno, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3Dude, thank you, I've tried reading this article for like half an hour
- namelessXsilent, on 07/05/2008, -1/+4not a bad list. Oldboy was awesome and well as Bourne, and Children of Men
- doctorinfierno, on 07/05/2008, -2/+4It's a great list no doubt, Children of Men numero 1! I would also consider the car scene were Juilanne Moore gets shoot, its impressive. Oh, yeah although it's not on the list the extinguisher scene from Irreversible.
- MidnightRIder77, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Did you even read my ***** post? Good movies such as Children of Men deserve nominations because it builds credibility for the people that made it and allows them to get more movies/better scripts and actors so they can make more good movies. When did I ever say that I only enjoyed Oscar nominated movies?
- azher, on 07/04/2008, -2/+4fantastic !!!
- mithrasinvictus, on 07/05/2008, -2/+4*there*
- enderwigin, on 07/05/2008, -2/+4I can understand why you disliked Wanted but Children of Men!
I will grant you the fact that Children of Men is a thinking man's action movie but all that means is you must be an idiot. - TheMarshmallow, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2i want to see this but i cant bc it went down :( and ive never heard anything dumber 9/11 inside job? haha stfu
- HtomSirveaux, on 07/05/2008, -1/+3Dude, Spiderman 2 is one of the best modern, comic based movies yet. One of the few series of movies where a sequel is better than its predecessor, in my opinion. I won't argue about Spiderman 3 though, there was no excuse for that *****.
- EWaldron, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1Quiet you!
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 07/05/2008, -1/+2Of course! Because, you know, Half Life was made in 1998 and the book that the film was based off of was made in 1992. Brilliant statement!
- MidnightRIder77, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1*for*
- carpespasm, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Say what you will about the movie (I thought it was adequate), but that long scene from CoM was very well done and fit in with the overall way the movie was done.
- dagooh, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Definitely bad spelling
- mrdeeds2324, on 07/05/2008, -6/+7Mirror: http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:bGzWNkKNPxYJ: ...
- Cebo, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1First one, right off the bat, pure *****. Spiderman his favorite superhero movie? Oh boy...
- EWaldron, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Yes Hollywood can be a joke, but not always.
"Movie making could fall off the face of the earth" -- You could say the same about music (amongst many other things).
Films can make people laugh, cry, scared, give them hope and appreciation but most of all, they can make people really think about their lives. OK, so quite a few of them are crappy, but every once in a while good ones do come along, that people discuss and argue over for years after.
No, they are not the most important things in the world but I sure would miss them. I admit this doesn't really apply to all of the movies on that list. - bloominoctober, on 07/08/2008, -0/+1Heat was pre-2000.
- HamSandwich, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I agree with you on both points. Both are pretty good, but that fire extinguisher scene really grabs you.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1ah, thats why all the movies on the list suck ass...
- inactive, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Can I get diggs even if I say Children of Men was 'wee look at me, Im not mainstream' with a whole mess of nothing, followed by nothing, with just a few minutes of an actual movie in it?
- vichussmith, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Shake your reality, or just really really cool scenes? Some of these just sound like they were highly entertaining, not reality shaking.
- antdude, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1http://209.85.173.104/search?hs=sUq&hl=en&lr=&c2co ... too.
- Shenanigans, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1There is still an obvious Children of Men bandwagon. It's like it was blogged about by someone with status and then the movie became a hit on Digg.
- btschul, on 07/05/2008, -1/+2not really.
- NotOptium, on 07/05/2008, -1/+2Yeah, and Ayn Rand stole her ideas from Bioshock.
- HtomSirveaux, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1When you are going to say something that you know is unpopular, try explaining yourself or back it up with facts and observations. For example if I were to say that I hated Children of Men, I'd say because it...
1)was long winded some if not most of the time to the point where you knew something dramatic was about to happen like the car ride where his wife dies or
2)the fact that the first 1/2 to 2/3 of the movie was back story that took seemingly forever to get through(see 1); or
3)it has the, by now horribly cliched, washed out blue/gray cinematography that ever other war-based action movie has had before it, ***** you very much Saving Private Ryan/Jerry Bruckheimer, and the fact that they think it looks cool, because it doesn't. It looks like I'm watching the god damn thing through a navy-blue nylon. Or that
4)for however awesome the final war climax might have been, it seemed horribly contrived that through all the other persistent realism working up to the end, it was, of course, the main antagonist's bullet that kills him and not the 10,000 others he was dodging all throughout that sequence.
or
5)For being a couple boiled eggs shy of 2 hours, it still only felt like half a movie. It seems like a cheat when you get up from rolling credits feeling like there should have been a "To be continued..." caption at the bottom.
These are just a few things you could have touched on if it seemed to you to be "no where near as good as people say it is."
Don't be so unoriginal. - adrames, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Probably my favorite movie of all time. I think I'm gonna watch it again today.
