- stayhumble, on 08/14/2008, -1/+12Woah, I got sucked in and read the entire thing. What a trip.

- iamgreg007, on 08/14/2008, -1/+8Fantastic list, but there are for sure a few things missing. A couple that come to mind immediatly:
1946 - The list mentions that Fleming wrote his novels in his Jamaica retreat called GoldenEye, but does not state in the list that he built the house in 1946.
1954 - Casino Royale is first filmed for the weekly CBS TV show "Climax" starring Barry Nelson as an American James Bond, complete with a British Felix Leiter who called Bond Jimmy.
1994 and 1996 - The list mentions the deaths of notable actors including Lois Maxwell (Moneypenny) and Desmond Llewelyn (Q), but it misses the deaths of Albert R Broccoli in 1996 and Harry Salzman in 1994 (though while Broccoli worked on the series up until his death, Salzman left in 1974 after The Man With the Golden Gun). I only mention them because it even has a date for the pair in 1961 when they helped get Dr. No off the ground.
Still, great list. I love the top 10s that run across the bottom of the screen. And, I know you are all going to bury this post for the link I'm about to post, but please don't...it's very relevant and if you like James Bond, it is a very helpful resource with more info on 007 than you can ever use. http://www.UniversalExports.net. Please don't bury :) - gberkshire, on 08/14/2008, -2/+5I'm already sold on "Quantum of Solace" but this is insanely in depth, very well done.

- freshyill, on 08/14/2008, -1/+3"100 years of James Bond" implies that the first thing Ian Fleming did after escaping his mother's womb was to write Casino Royale. You could have easily fit the *actual* title of the page in the space Digg allots.
- SirBruce, on 08/14/2008, -0/+2Buried for not mentioned Barry Nelson, the *first* actor to play James Bond in the made for TV version of Casino Royale.
- dirkniblick, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1Casino Royale was great and followed the book as well as it could for being "updated". I hate that they dumbed it down by switching the baccarat out for Texas hold'em. Nothing screams sophistication like tuxedos and poker. *sigh*
What I wanted to comment on is that you are correct. Ian Fleming's books TOTALLY outshine the movies. I used to like the movies but after reading the books, Sean Connery's Bond can't hold a candle to Fleming's Bond. If you like the 007 movies, do yourself a favor and read the books. (...or listen to them via Audible) - ghaltmann, on 08/14/2008, -1/+2I have been watching James Bond flicks since I was a small child. Anyone who has not seen all of the originals is certainly missing out on a great character and supremely classic movies. The books are wonderful as well.
- crowbarred, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1now thats a nice website ....frag it, i'm envious ... kudos (I even went back and watched the intro)
- Allstarme, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1I totally did too. Great site!
- Cabose, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1I'm sorry, but is that dude in the second photo under Quantom of Solace (sp?) Dead or something?
- satanikus, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1Cool site, thanks!

- jezsik, on 08/14/2008, -1/+2I keep hoping that someone will do to James Bond what was done to Batman: do it proper like. The last Bond film was much better than previous releases, granted, but when you read the books, you meet a remarkably complex Bond.

I might just have to make my own: "100 Years of John McCain". - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+2Best summary of James Bond movies and it's creator yet.
The best thing i liked was the information was brief yet informative and the website navigation is not overwhelming, but user friendly. The accompanying image with each section was like icing on the cake. My favorite movie was Golden Eye and am waiting for "Quantum of Solace". I hope it's worth the wait.
Thanks for sharing it. - magneteye, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1Flemming/Bond fans should really see the movie "The Secret Life of Ian Flemming". Ian Flemming is played by Jason Connery, Sean Connery's son. A really cool movie and story about the creator of James Bond.

www.thephilosophizer.com - CedEx, on 08/14/2008, -1/+0Considering that the character mirrored much of the experiences of Ian Fleming's life from birth, I'd say the creation of James Bond goes as far back as that.
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -3/+2This site is awesome. I can not wait for quantum of solace to come out. I am so excited. I am definitely seeing it the first night.
