- dignews, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13F1 is quite abit more advanced. (I gather I'm gonna get dugg down, but Americans remember Scott Speed races in F1 so its not only Europeans)
- knowsfear, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Although all signs point to Scott Speed being removed from F1 next year because he sucks and has a terrible attitude. He will likely drive for one of the red bull sponsored cars in Champ Car next year if he drives anywhere...
I love F1 though with or without an american. - dignews, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3dude if they let the rev over 19K again and get rid of the groves in the tires and also have flexible wings I'm pritty sure F1 cars would be getting up to speeds of 300 MPH. They already get up to 220 MPH on some tracks.
- salinemist, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3F1 engine: less displacement, normally aspirated, more horsepower. If only they'd let them rev above 19k again. :-(
- sw96, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I attended this and have to say it was pretty amazing. We were sitting right above the hairpin turn with a giant TV in view which displayed all kinds of stats for all the drivers and cars involved. The sound is deafening, and the sport takes a lot more skill and strategy than one might think. 10$ for a cup of beer though, good thing I don't drink! :)
- bblades, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Champcar is a great series, I've been a fan for a decade.
- spacefreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2A Champ Car story on the Digg front page? How is that even possible?!
- knowsfear, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3What are you talking about? Champ Car has a Long Beach Grand Prix. F1 on the other hand had a US GP this year in Indianapolis but there will be no US GP period next year.
- Todesengelvr6, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This things are amazing to see in person. If you ever get the chance, definitely take it!
- SkyPimp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I thought I was the only one that cares about Champ Car. The best racing, but the worst promoting.
- heaintheavy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Bring back the Long Beach Grand Prix!
The current US GP is boring as hell... - swankboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I haven't watched Champ car in ages. Do they cover races like NASCAR, Indy and Rolex Sports Car series? Constant in-race interviews, high twangy annoying voices and incorrect jargon? Not only that but calling cars by number instead of by driver or sponsor/manufacturer? That ***** drives me nuts. I love F1. I think a big part of it is the Speed announce crew and the way they cover it. Also F1 BY FAR has the best qualifying system in the world for racing. At times it's better than the actual race. I watched qualifying for Indy this year a little bit and it was mind-numbingly boring and long.
- optikalblitz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Was an enjoyable race to watch. I still don't now how i feel about the Power To Pass business..even though the turbos sound awesome under p2p
But there's something great to be said about the race engineers that make those cars so reliable under ridiculously harsh street-race conditions. - withoutashovel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1am i the only one laughing at why the website is named com.com?
- djpants428, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah, the power to pass thing kinda threw me. It seems a little to gimmicky, like something out of Mario Kart.. Then again, it's not like they are shooting turtle shells at one another..
- spacefreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You seem to have forgotten that "news" part at the beginning.
- themapman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Hooray, Champ Car stories on Digg!! About time!
It's a great series, the cars sound great (a very pleasant high-pitched scream that is much easier on the ears than NASCAR), the series is all about fan access and the races are crazy!
Good work by CNET to capture the technology. The CDW car and their sponsorship effort has been great, really bringing the technology behind the series to the forefront. - hakkamacher, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The real technology is in F1.
The USGP (RIP) was definitely not boring, - themapman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The Champ Car broadcasts are okay, not great, but they have no twangy voices. Now that they're back on ESPN things are getting a lot better.
- racekarl, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1F1 cars are quite a bit more expensive, but they're not as much more advanced as the added cost would lead you to believe. In fact, part of the advanced nature of the Champcar package is that it can compete at such a high level at such a low cost, and with reliability that would be the envy of the F1 paddock.
- NickyBatts, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2How does he suck? His results are no better or worse than Liuzzi...
Also, how is his attitude bad? He seems pretty upbeat... - wh33lchairkid, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0that is pretty neat
