The World’s Coolest Cop Car : Lamborghini Police Car in London
trifter.com — Well, if a gentleman or any other miscreant think they can outrun the long arm of the law in London, let me say, its reach has just gotten a lot longer thanks to a 640bhp Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. No more BMW 535d patrol cars for our boys in blue. Instead they will have a bellowing Italian 6.5-litre V12 and four-wheel-drive at their disposal!

- realclark, on 10/10/2007, -11/+45technically, the world coolest cop car is a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria based in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada.
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2Impala > Crown Victoria
- ffleming, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8that joke went way over your head
- GfunkGbuss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3And everyone else's by the looks of the other responses.
- sakuraz, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Could you please explain? I don't get the joke.
- killingthedream, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Lets emphasize 'coolest'...then the location...think about it...
- pr5owner, on 10/10/2007, -8/+0most readers are american, they dont even know what canada is let alone what provinces are in canada, they still think the sun revolves around the earth!
- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1***** u stuiped canadian, we know earth revolves around the sun, and ur police force is nothing and we just dont like canadians cause u guys are just canadain!!
- bigdeuscheguy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Proud to be Canadian, eh?
- rspeed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3America's big hat.
- cawpin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Yeah, not the new ones.
Caprice > Crown Victoria
- ffleming, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8that joke went way over your head
- tamurlane6, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I take it you've never sat in the back of the impy cop car. I'll take the Vic please.
- h0lyc0w, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0Naaah!!! If they really wanted it to be cool they would have gotten a Hummer police car.
- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2hummers are crap, the tax would rise like hell for the payments of gas fillups
- Ty1erDurd3n, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0hummers are crap, but lamborginis use just as much gas
- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2hummers are crap, the tax would rise like hell for the payments of gas fillups
- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1can i get a site to show off if they actually changed the crown vic, and also u know that a crwon vic wieghs like 2 tons, could get high speeds, but slow acceleration
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -10/+2Impala > Crown Victoria
- dude1818, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Italy also has lambos for cop cars too.
- dukeochutney, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4that was my thought. i remembered a link to the Italian ones a while back.
- jdblueaudis4, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Except Italy was using Gallardo's not Murcielago's. I believe this is the first use of a Murcielago as a cop car (at least that I have heard of)
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's not owned by the police, and it's not used as a police car.
The Italian Lamborghinis are proper police cars, although afaik they were donated by Lamborghini.- GfunkGbuss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I seem to remember it was just as much about marketing as it was giving the police a more powerful "weapon" on their arsenal.
- makis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1no it wasn't marketing.it is used mainly for transportation of plasma and human organs for transplant.much faster than any ambulance and where helicopters can't land or are not available.
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It's not owned by the police, and it's not used as a police car.
- noblepenguin, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Your tax dollars at work.
- RubenGM, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I don't think the Italian cops used dollars to pay that Italian company called Lamborghini to buy the car. Maybe the ones in London would have done so, if they didn't use pounds.
Funny people, aren't they?- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Lambourghini is technically German now... the new cars are essentially very fast Audis that are interesting to look at.
- m0dfreak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, with the price tag to match!
- RubenGM, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I don't think the Italian cops used dollars to pay that Italian company called Lamborghini to buy the car. Maybe the ones in London would have done so, if they didn't use pounds.
- brundlefly76, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I cant think of any less practical use of a Lamborghini then driving in on the streets of LONDON!
Good god what a waste.
California Highway Patrol, however, should have these on the 5. - imandir, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Indianapolis Police have Corvettes
- YHVH, on 10/10/2007, -9/+2your link appears to be broken, and the cops only had this car on loan for a motor expo
- FizixMan, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Works for me. Well... at least until this hits the front page. >.>
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yep. It was only on loan to the Met for the duration of the MPH car show in November 2006. It's not used as a police car and never will be.
- inigomntoya, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It seemed a little exotic (and very difficult to get in and out of) to be a practical cop car.
- mdjohnson1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19okay ... now that you caught me, see if you can hand-cuff me in the back seat. Ha.
- thcobbs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2They'll just handcuff you to the spoiler and make you walk to the local station.
- Radan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6No problem they simply put you in the car trunk and-, oh.
- Jazzillion, on 10/10/2007, -2/+32But can it turn into a giant robot that shoots a 1,000 rounds of artillery per second? The world's coolest cop car so far.
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yet it gets beaten by a 1970's Camaro...
- jackyyll, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You mean 2010?
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yet it gets beaten by a 1970's Camaro...
- luke16, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i have only seen one once, last month. It almost makes me want to get arrested and take a trip to the station xD
- 10goto10, on 10/10/2007, -16/+11It's ugly
- estvir, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12The colours are, anyway.
- Crimsoneer, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4Your mums ugly. Sorry to be so cliche, but really, she is.
- h0lyc0w, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Your grandmums ugly.
That was not cliche , I guess..
- h0lyc0w, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Your grandmums ugly.
- zyklon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I'd love to be pulled over by that car. You know... the narrow streets of London and all.
I'd be more fearing of a Lamborghini as a United States highway patrolman.- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Quick joke:
Two chavs are going around London in a car but no dance music is playing. Who's driving?
The police.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Quick joke:
- santy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Man that's real Mike Looooooowwwrreeeyy.
- TheAcidQueen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
- SickFinga, on 10/10/2007, -2/+14Definitely not as coolest, but here is the fastest and the most expensive police car right now.
http://rankyspanky.com/2006/11/18/fastcops/- willx99, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1how is that the fastest? It has a slower 0-62 time and I would guess it tops out slightly less then the lambo.
Although in my personal opinion the 911 is much better looking.- markperia, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1but the 0118 999 881 999 119 7253 has much better looking drivers
- willx99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love how I cant edit my comment like 10 seconds later. Anyways I apologize, I was wrong... the lambo only gets up to 211, I didnt see that before.
- willx99, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1how is that the fastest? It has a slower 0-62 time and I would guess it tops out slightly less then the lambo.
- SavageBlackCat, on 10/10/2007, -16/+2Ask any racer - any real racer - a civic with t3h VTEC and NAWZ will pwn3d that.
- NielsVynckier, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning 's winning. :D

- TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Chargers *are* bad-ass.
/muscle-carhead
- TheMidnight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Chargers *are* bad-ass.
- willbrand, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, that's necessary. You know, all those high speed chases around London. All this car needed to be effective was brakes.
- Toothy1911, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Where the hell in London is this going to be of any use, a push bike would be faster around all the congestion.
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5To balance out the coolness though, the Met also have some Smart-cars: http://www.ukemergency.co.uk/police/dscd0047.jpg
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3For the meter maids?
- FreakTrap, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1What the hell...?
The colors are just as ugly on that thing too, what is wrong with your cop's car's designers?- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3That's the colours our police forces use. It's not meant to be pretty, it's meant to be noticeable (the yellow parts are reflective so they can be seen at night easily).
- slipstreamJC, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3dugg for being outside the ace cafe.
- msc20, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4the Italian gallardo is way f'in cooler than that and has been around for 3yrs
http://www.italiaspeed.com/2004/cars/lamborghini/05/police_gallardo.html- SugeKnight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I would take an Murcielago LP640 over a Gallardo any day of the week....The LP640 destroys the Gallardo on all of it's times!
- Optimaximal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes, but the Gallardo is much more sensibly priced, hardly a slouch itself and a much easier drive.
- SugeKnight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I would take an Murcielago LP640 over a Gallardo any day of the week....The LP640 destroys the Gallardo on all of it's times!
- Ndric, on 10/10/2007, -10/+5Good thing most British people are rich
They don't seem to care where their tax dollars go to- MrLunar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yup, I don't care.
...But that's probably because we don't pay in dollars. - PawFox, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5Who are these soo called "rich" people?
Im skint to hell and I somehow have to fund another year of college in september - Part time jobs are hard enough to find. - tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I'd rather we paid in dollars though, it'd be cheaper right now :D
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It's not a real police car. It's privately owned, so not a penny of tax payers' money went towards it...
- MrLunar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Yup, I don't care.
- vigilance72, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Years ago (5-10), some police force in the U.S. was donated a lamborghini, to deal with speeders. A couple of months later they had crashed it.
- Teej, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That's because the majority of Americans can't drive. Same goes for Canadians. I'd put my trust in a British driver way sooner than a North American one. Not to say that there aren't any exceptions, because there are. However, the standards of driving in England tend to be much higher. For one thing, the driving tests are much harder to complete.
- themoors, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Good to know where my taxes are going
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1...a privately owned Lamborghini fitted out with police livery for one day as part of a photo shoot?
- popfrogs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9FTA:
"The world’s coolest cop car is going to be on display at the Metropolitan Police stand at the MPH ’06 show at London’s Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre which starts today and runs until November 5."
Anyone notice the '06? Can you say, OLD NEWS? - madhighlandcow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4As so many others have pointed out, this would be a superb idea - for anywhere but a built up metropolitan district. Especially one with undulations in the roads that will crack the above supercar's suspension like an egg.
Muppets.- Teej, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That doesn't seem to stop the rich from driving their Lambos, Mercs and just about everything else around London on a daily basis.
Rich muppets.
- Teej, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That doesn't seem to stop the rich from driving their Lambos, Mercs and just about everything else around London on a daily basis.
- madhighlandcow, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1As so many others have pointed out, this would be a superb idea - for anywhere but a built up metropolitan district. Especially one with undulations in the roads that will crack the above supercar's suspension like an egg.
Muppets. - rabidbob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I'm sorry but in London rush hour I could get away from that thing riding a 50cc scooter!
- shoesterix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1This is what happens when you have a new Prime Minister! :)
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Even though it's from '06?
- aserer511, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1....a 535d is still FAR quicker than the average Brit car
- skyshock1, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4Pointless. You can still outrun that thing on an ultra-fast sport bike. And I'm sure the bonehead behind the wheel wouldn't know how to drive something that fast either.
But I guess it's cool for the cops to use in their never-ending dick-waving contest. - jinjaninja, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I used to work in South Kensington and I would pass by the Lamborghini dealership there everyday. They would often rotate the show car in the window from bright pink, to sexy red and occasionally this police car! It certainly got people's heads turning.
- simplejoe79, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is adding teeth to enforcement
- willcoll, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4that seems practical.
- Amenbea, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I have to say barricade the mustang cop car from transformers movie is the coolest cop car i've ever seen.
- theright, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20I hate to spoil the excitement, but it's not a real police car, people. It's a privately-owned Lamborghini that was temporarily fittedo out with police livery for publicity purposes and a photoshoot. It is not a police car, and there are no plans for Lamborghinis to be used as police cars.
The photo is not new, either. It's from the MPH car show in November 2006. It's just been blogspammed here with some false claims that it's going to be used as a police car.
See: http://cms.met.police.uk/news/policy_organisational_news_and_general_information/met_lamborghini_on_show - zakmcflimby, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Well I've got a low car, and I can tell you a ford fiesta can outrun me if there are any speed bumps in the road.
Utter waste of tax money. It'll only be a few weeks before the prats in blue write it off anyhow.- theright, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3It's not a police car. No tax money went towards it.
- Utsawin, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1An utter monumental waste of tax payers money (in fuel and upkeep bills alone)!
- uberkling, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8"We have a code-415 in progress, beginning high-speed persuit..."
"...Crap. Speed hump".- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3lmao
- bryanyeager, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0i got pulled over by a 2006 black ford mustang in upstate new york in april. first nice warm day of the year. i never saw it... because it was a black ford mustang!
- heebeejeebie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Awesome. Love the paint job. Reminds of something Austin Powers would drive if ever he gave up his trusty Shaguar.
- EmailAddress, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39mpg in the city and 14mpg on the highway...
Just as fat cops hang around the dounut shop, these cars will be hanging around the gas station. - griffeycom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I don't get the point of these as cop cars. Sure they are fast, but police don't want to get into high-speed chases. The acceleration is something they'd want but they have helicopters now that will chase the person if they're "too fast" for the normal patrol cars. I don't know what they're normal ones are in London but Crown Vics can get going pretty fast.
- JAVandiver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow."
- xboxfiend, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Was Simon Pegg driving it?
- micahwilli, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2They still only carry billy-clubs!
- comradeTJH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's tip top. I'm just not sure about the colour.
- gluckman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://z7.invisionfree.com/Team_Smackeral/index.php?showtopic=56, here are some more sweet police cars
- HautePie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1How many times does it need to be mentioned this was never an operational police car or paid for with taxes ?
- tizz66, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Apparently several more.... lol
- pr5owner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1whats funny is any Lancer Evo can out run a lambo in the corners with an exp driver (see top gear eps) for about 1/10th the price
- drunkinbda, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1buried as inaccurate.
This is the coolest cop car in the world: http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/Images/stories/2007/jan/barricade.jpg - Angostura, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Buried - inaccurate.
- robdowns, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2World's most wasteful cop car ever. Can't even take a prisoner, very poor gas mileage, ridiculous price tag, and you don't even need something that fast as a chaser.
- zemkacz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1are crown vics that fast really?
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1vics top out at 125 here according to some 'inside' people.
- Lochie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I thought the Lotus Exige cop car was quite cool. http://www.caradvice.com.au/1560/lotus-exige-nsw-police-car/
