- lovecss, on 01/24/2009, -2/+105A F1 car at it's "ugliest" will still be a work of art.
- vptel, on 01/25/2009, -0/+43i've never seen an F1 car as ugly, i think they look magnificant
- ci5ic, on 01/25/2009, -1/+25strongly disagree with the title... love the old F1 style.
- Peko, on 01/24/2009, -0/+22Careful what you wish for =)

Yeah, I'd wish as well. - amercer, on 01/25/2009, -0/+15Not so crazy about the huge front wings, but damn those side-pods are sexy. :)
Also, KUBICA FTW. - kamikazicondon, on 01/25/2009, -0/+11What about F1 loving Americans?
- Joodtimes, on 01/24/2009, -2/+13The Renault F29 is uglier than sin but I think that has more to do with the color and that ridiculous shark fin rather than the entire car design. The new Williams looks wicked. Can't wait for March!
- LoungeActx, on 01/25/2009, -0/+10Honestly, it's not the car that's ugly, it's just the proportion of that rear wing that makes it look awkward. But I'm no engineer so what do I know.
- danmed, on 01/25/2009, -0/+9and what racing formula isn't about the money? it doesn't make the sport any less of a sport.. and if there is a pinnacle.. then F1 is it.
- RayRay12, on 01/25/2009, -0/+7dude i love F1, its just so awesome. It even better when you are there and your hear those engines drive by....its amazing
- spoogieking012, on 01/25/2009, -0/+7F1 > nascar
- 316ex, on 01/24/2009, -0/+7It's all about performance. I would love to be in the drivers seat of one of them.
- danmed, on 01/25/2009, -0/+6Hell yes. Roll on 61 days, 54 minutes and 45 seconds
- mandraque, on 01/25/2009, -0/+5The cars are uglier than before but by no means ugly.
- dannytehmanny, on 01/25/2009, -8/+13im not going to lie i think its hideous
- virtualonliner, on 01/25/2009, -2/+7Nascar loving Americans will never know the beauty of F1.
- wtfhacksDan, on 01/25/2009, -0/+4http://f60.ferrariworld.com/
- doiveo, on 01/24/2009, -1/+5The design would be subject to the forces of evolution. The shape that gives the greatest advantage would win more so become the dominant style. Great paint jobs, on the other hand, would help the sport become more popular because, frankly, those cars are damn sexy.
- brown2hm, on 01/25/2009, -0/+4Ummm yea... F1 cars are most definitely NOT spec cars. They're probably on the opposite end of the spectrum.
- drunkenoaf, on 01/25/2009, -1/+4They don't look that different to any other F1 car since 1998, tbh.
- pdileepa, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3Surprise! Not even a single picture of the Ferrari F60.
- danmed, on 01/25/2009, -1/+4the "old" f1 style.. and that would be what? Turbo Era... early 80's? Senna Esque???... there are so many "old" F1 styles..
- spish, on 01/25/2009, -0/+3yes, they are.
- arcusMae, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2I think it's a great move this year. By encouraging more overtaking the cars are now more orientated for mechanical grip, just like it used to be. The racing slicks ought to make this season more thrilling too.
- buffalodan, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2Yeah, don't like the red thrown into that. Also, the cars look very plain. Before there were all sorts of viking horns, and mini-wings on the body, it is very smooth now. Williams front wing, and McClarens front wing look amazing though.
- watermelonnz, on 01/25/2009, -1/+3NASnooze?!
- Chinzon, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2I think Robert Kubica and BMW are going to surprise a lot of people this year....
- giveme1, on 01/25/2009, -0/+2no talent?
you try stepping on the brakes of one of those cars while keeping your head upright when you're getting multiple g's from turning so fast. - azizrulez, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1F1 cars were never built for looks, the whole point behind building these cars is speed, and the designers stop at nothing to achieve that.
- pdileepa, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1That was amazing! And I liked how he locked up at every single corner! Just shows how tough it is to take one of those around the track.
This reminded me of Niki Lauda testing a modern F1 car (The Jaguar Ford F1) and spinning & almost stalling the car!

He's a F1 champion, but in a different ear :) - cassaffousth, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Freud, anyone?
- rightwingkiller, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1I admit that I am an ancient who has followed F1 since the days of Clark, Hill and Gurney.
I attended the US GP at Watkins Glen when I was in High School and met Graham Hill.
These cars are a beautifull as anyting F1 has produced.
Now if we could only get a successfull US Gran Prix again.
Maybe thru the streets in Miami?
WRC? Well, it beats the ***** out of todays NASCAR. - fartleg, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1please educate me ... why did they change the aero rules.
- hamshu, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1And thats why they made the changes in aero.... Come on dude, pay attention.
- ccxftw, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1They showed the worst looking cars out of the ones revealed so far. Take a look at the Ferrari, Williams, and Toyota (to an extent) contenders and you'll see what I mean.
- S2000, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1I think they look fantastic, especially some of the wild looking side pods. The only downside is the retarded looking rear wing that's been mandated for the new season. A full-width rear wing would make this new generation some of the best ever (just put the V10's back in!) Some of the cars from last year were getting pretty strange with all the fins and such "growing" of the bodywork, e.g: McLaren's second "floating" front wing and Honda's goofy "antennae".
Hooray for full slicks! - inactive, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1The title was shocking
- a117, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Seriously... I mean, look at the Mercedes one... just TRY and tell me it doesn't look like a silver penis on wheels.
- jasongbc, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1TURN LEFT!
- aychseven, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1awww i miss the viking horns!
- autobulb, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1I feel like there's a major shift in the perspective of beauty in recent years. The novel "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" dives into this shift alot: the idea of classical beauty versus the idea of romantic beauty. The shift, in my opinion, is changing from classical to romantic. The old formula 1 racers contained beauty in their function, or in a classical perspective. But now, the viewpoint is that if it looks good on the outside, it has beauty, which is a romantic interpretation of beauty. Who knows, maybe in the future the two will combine into one form to create something new. But, for now, the trend seems to be moving from function to form, in many different aspects of technology.
- snwboardbaddie, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Hey.... Not all of us Americans like Nascar. In fact I despise the fact the rest of the world thinks that. I am all about F1. Danica Patrick is a goddess on and off the tarmac.
- BigglesPiP, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Interesting how the rule changes have played out, I think I might keep watching until the single engine comes in.
- ripple123, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1i think they should have a racing competition where all the cars are remote controlled, maybe computer controlled, and most of the rules are thrown out, the safety rules are thrown out, and let the engineers go nuts. a pure competitive engineering exercise, not meant to supplant f1 of course.
- jordanmoore, on 01/28/2009, -0/+1Surprise! They look exactly the same.
- goodvinboy, on 09/07/2009, -0/+1Who told F1 cars were ugly?
- fandyboy, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1That's cos the camera lens cracked.
- HalsMyPal, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1Who cares what they look like i just wanna see them race in Australia in March!
- deealf, on 01/25/2009, -0/+1everything looks way better, but I have to say I'm really dissapointed with the rear wing. it definitely looks out of proportion and makes the car look like a cracker-jack toy
- Napiertt, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1I beg to differ. They look ugly to me.
