It's embarassing to see the Impreza name tacked onto that. Worst redesign ever. - bardamu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Time to upgrade from my 02 WRX wagon. Word is the new car is lighter and the engine is lower giving the car a lower center of gravity for better handling. HP is supposed to be upped to 320 as well.

- epilonious, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I like this car... I also like the mazda3 5-door, and while they don't share much beyond the "raked rear window compact hatchback/wagon" similarities... I sort of see it as as the mazdaspeed3 that could have been (albeit more expensive and gas-hungry).

- muller, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3FYI, I read in motor trend that they are going to be making a sedan version for the US, at least for this year, due to Americans being fairly anti-hatchback. So, you'll probably still be able to pick up a sedan instead of the hatch if you like. Unfortunately, I doubt it'll look much less phallic than the hatch. The 08 lineup looks like someone combined a Mazda with a penis.

- aimetti, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Initially, when the 06 version of the wrx came out I hated it. But it grew on me a lot and I bought one. Wouldn't change my decision if I could go back. But after seeing the 08 impreza/wrx I completely hate it and theres no way thats changing. However the wrc version does look better. I am hoping the STI is similar as that may be worth switching to especially with them introducing more power to it.

- aimetti, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2All that really changed for the 06 that I did not like was the 3 piece grill. That's the part that grew on me. Not to mention it now came with the STI side skirts and splitters in the front. With the limited mods that are on it (springs, wheels, tints, exhaust, intake) it looks and sounds a heck of alot better. With the 08 it is just to bland and boring. Of course there will be a TON of aftermarket support so that's a big plus. Theres posts on nasioc already showing the 08 with new grills. Does make it look better but there's still something missing. However, I would love to have the interior of the new one. Its alot better.

So I suppose there is hope for the New STI, to look alot different. Let's not forget Subaru Designed the Loyale, and the Justy, SVX, and

- kazoomaloo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I ran off to the dealership a couple days ago to check the '08 Impreza out, it really isn't nearly so bad in person. They only had the sedans in stock, and I hate the looks of the old Impreza sedan, but the new one is pretty sharp, especially with the mesh grille. Subaru's done chasing 17 year old ricer money and they're trying to sell a sporty car to adults who won't be embarrassed driving them into the parking lot at a professional job. WRX should be passable, but the Mazdaspeed3 is way more sexy and handles better. However, someone will have to do a winter performance comparison... then we'll see.
- bdonnell, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2US is getting a Sedan, but the STI will only be the hatch. Most people posting on Subie forums tend to hate the new design, it looks like a lot of potential STI buyers will be switching to the Evo.
