- lfroker, on 01/02/2008, -1/+25holy crap
- Diabolos, on 01/02/2008, -1/+16I could jump that.
- VanD, on 01/02/2008, -2/+16You can't replace Evel Knievel
- Slackdragon, on 01/02/2008, -0/+13Or a single flaming Truck-a-copter!
- Slackdragon, on 01/02/2008, -0/+13Yeah, the big E.K. would have landed on a 4-inch wide wood landing ramp with diamond-plate, bone-smashing decking on the gound to either side.
- IbraAlYahud, on 01/02/2008, -1/+13DO A BARREL ROLL!
- wisammy, on 01/02/2008, -3/+13We used to date in the 90's.
- xdvx, on 01/02/2008, -1/+11Crazy! One mistake and you dead. Respect
- wellyuk, on 01/02/2008, -4/+13ah ***** you guys for digging me down.
- manfrin, on 01/02/2008, -0/+8He also did his tricks in a Harley, something Mr. Maddison here would never try.
- trioinmyhead, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Im actually in this video. i was on the pyro crew there.
- wellyuk, on 01/02/2008, -0/+8running or on a bike?
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7Not once, but twice.
- rq60, on 01/02/2008, -1/+8pointless? i assume by your username you watch baseball?
irony established. - NOFXY, on 01/02/2008, -0/+7both.
- rq60, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6nice jump. that news caster needs to tone down the exuberance.
- stevejobs, on 01/02/2008, -0/+6Digg for the referee girls in mini skirts.
- adroit, on 01/02/2008, -1/+7I watched most of the ESPN special last night and i thought the jump was kind of anti-climactic. It was amazing but he made it look too easy and everyone loves a good fall.
I bet he had done the jump a few times before but espn and red bull wanted a show made out of it. - hphickman, on 01/02/2008, -7/+12Having such a large landing ramp takes too much risk out of it - Evel Knievel would never have used a ramp like that.
- Ghoztt, on 01/02/2008, -0/+5Crazy hairless monkeys.
- katatoniq, on 01/02/2008, -0/+5this is australia. that is how we speak.
- S1ngular1ty1, on 01/02/2008, -0/+5Or a single helicopter!
- Flashman, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Come on, Aussie!
- scotchsean, on 01/02/2008, -1/+5Where are the *****' buses!!??
- jordanlgta, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4Taking your ass to school Monday.
- Aggaman, on 01/02/2008, -0/+4If he successfully manages to jump the Snake River Canyon in a glorified firework, I'll put him above Evel for achievements, but no one will ever match Evel's personal style.
- Frostman3D, on 01/02/2008, -5/+8Who the ***** is Robbie Maddison?
- wellyuk, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3touche

- Mononuclear, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3a deep sexy voice does not a daredevil make.
- katatoniq, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3so i guess you never went to disneyland. you wouldn't know what it's like to enjoy the thrill of a ride, let alone control it yourself.
anyone smell tard? - redcard, on 01/03/2008, -0/+3That's awesome. You guys are all over EK. EK was a great guy for entertainment, but really didn't give a damn about landing it safely or not. He had a death wish, and knew full well he'd get paid whether he landed or not.
RM , on the other hand, decided he didn't want to screw himself over. That's why he wasn't on a Harley, had a big landing ramp, etc. It's almost like he had people THINKING about this. - Humptydank, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3Yeah, let him try that same jump on Evil Knievel's 1972 Harley Davidson XR-750... This guy might as well have been riding a big fluffy pillow.
Kids today. - mrswirl, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3I watched this the other night and while it was awesome to see him go so damned far, (he was really cooking too going into the takeoff - 94+ mph) it was also kind of lame at the same time using that huge landing ramp.
The actual horizontal distance he traveled may have exceeded 310 ft but the point at which his tires landed was also quite a bit higher vertically than his take off point. Doesn't this mean that the linear distance should be reduced by subtracting the horizontal differences between the takeoff and landing points?
It was cool to watch but it just comes down to simple physics - speed + angle = distance traveled. I mean, you can get just about anything to go that far if you launch it at the right angle and put enough energy behind it.
Maybe he just made it seem way too easy but there really wasn't much drama to this whole event. I remember watching Evel do his jumps on Wide World of Sports back in the 70's and there was way more excitement when he did it. - hfxadv, on 01/02/2008, -1/+4This event could have been epic provided Rhys Millen didn't break his back/neck during practice attempting to rip a back flip in a trophy truck.
RHYS MlLLEN QUOTE:
“After successfully landing the 360-degree backflip three times into the cardboard boxes in training, I am disappointed that our last jump ended in an accident. As I lay here in the hospital with three broken vertebrae in my neck and two compressed and broken vertebrae in my back, I am also disappointed that we cannot perform the 360-degree backflip at the Red Bull Experiment on New Year's Eve, but I'm happy that I will be able to walk again. I look forward to watching Robbie Maddison do his 300-plus-foot motorcycle jump in Las Vegas.” - CthulhuDawn, on 01/02/2008, -0/+3shocks...pegs...LUCKY!
- krnageskillz, on 01/07/2008, -0/+2Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!!! This is awesome :-)
- CheapDigWannbe, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2Big E.K. also had a bike that weighed like your civic, was double the size and half the power than this bike... so don't compare jumps too much... technology has really moved on.
- cvh™, on 01/05/2008, -0/+2that's probably where half of the diggs came from...
- cawpin, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2I'm not sure this is really a world record. I saw a guy in about 1995 jump right at 300 feet on a dirt bike, which tied the then world record. He then did the same jump on a four wheeler setting the world record. I can't imagine that it hasn't been broken until now, and by only 22 feet?
- tonsta, on 01/04/2008, -0/+2ridiculous!
- mrswirl, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2around 95 mph
- trnelson, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2... this is sooooo 2007.
- MacDaddyMac530, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2How fast was he going?
- ninjajaja, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2Sucks that the wind was against him. He could've gone a little farther.
- Nearoschyth, on 01/02/2008, -1/+3Watched it and it was pretty sweet. If it hadn't been for the fact that it was at a ***** hotel and not an airstrip or something he probably could have made it a lot farther: he had to go around a turn and dodge a pole in the run-up.
Also, his fiancé is the smallest hot chick I've ever seen. Or the hottest small chick. Whatever the case, I'd break her in half (but I would have fun doing it). - SuperCujo, on 01/02/2008, -0/+2He was an arrogant *****.
No one will ever manage to top the arrogance Evel possessed. -
