- borez, on 01/20/2009, -2/+11They're not pretty this years F1 cars. At all.
- chetanthaker, on 01/20/2009, -1/+9It is a real shame that the pinnacle of motorsport now wants to have cost cutting measure and are limiting the engineer's imaginations and limits.
1 engine for 3 races
1 gearbox for 4 or so races
No extra testing
Engine freeze for the next 10 years
Do not know what Eccelstone and Mosley were thinking ! - RunDiggMC, on 01/20/2009, -1/+7Living in the United States, I've had much more exposure to NASCAR than Formula One, but I'm growing to appreciate F1 more and more, even if only for the aesthetic appeal of their cars. The R29 is beautiful.
- breadfred, on 01/20/2009, -1/+7Alonso is a good driver, but a ***** loser. And arrogant as *****.
- TheAcidQueen, on 01/20/2009, -0/+4Thank god the 3 race engine rule has been scrapped.
- Stavrosian, on 01/20/2009, -0/+4They were trying to make it a sport where more than two or three teams can afford to be competitive, or even to stay afloat. I think they are both charlatans and I'd like to see them gone from the sport for good, but on the need to cut costs I think they are absolutely right. Without these measures F1 may very well have collapsed under its own weight before too long.
F1 engineers have been limited for years anyway, this is just going to have to make them more creative. One of my friends is a mechanic for Williams and he insists that they could easily have been breaking 300 MPH and beyond for years if they hadn't had to follow the restrictions placed upon them. They've even been forced to attach a wooden plank to the car, lest we forget. - slicecom, on 01/20/2009, -0/+3Ok, I don't have a problem if you think Hamilton is arrogant, but how you can think Hamilton is arrogant and Alonso isn't is beyond me. Alonso is the most self centered, arrogant, disloyal driver currently in F1. That said, he's still one of my favorite drivers, but lets not fool ourselves here.
- GoatMonkey2112, on 01/20/2009, -2/+4You got the names backwards there.
- Ardiente, on 01/20/2009, -1/+3I thought I read Lil Kim for a second. Figured she used race cars in some music video. But yes she needs to retire as well.
- Niubai, on 01/20/2009, -0/+2I really want Renault to step up this year, because IMO Alonso is the best driver by far, he needs a better car to battle Ferrari and McLaren. And Nelsinho ... damn, I hope he does better this year, he's not honoring the family's name yet ...
- MrARPA, on 01/20/2009, -0/+2Yes, I know what it is ... but which system is best ? Williams appear to believe the opposite to the majority of their competitors.
- slicecom, on 01/20/2009, -0/+2I too hope Alonso and Renault are even more competitive this year, and though I agree he's one of the best drivers, and the best at developing a car, I don't see how you can say he's that far ahead of everyone else. Hamilton beat him in the same car in 2007 afterall. I'd say the best drivers in F1 are Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel and Kimi.
- devfeed, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Dugg that. Things never change. http://homemasters.info
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Go faster lions.
- Stavrosian, on 01/20/2009, -3/+4Lewis is taking all of Fernando's records off him one by one. When the dust settles on their careers I think the numbers will probably back up any perceived arrogance you see in Hamilton - runner-up in his first season (and should have won but for some rookie mistakes) champion in his second season (despite some hilariously bad steward's decisions in favour if his rivals). How far can he go? If there aren't a couple more championships by the time he calls it a day I would be very surprised.
He might not be popular with the other drivers, but none of them will deny that the boy's got talent. Except maybe Alonso, the biggest whiner in the game. - inactive, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Thank god for Renault. Without them we'd be having the same boring liveries as last year, but at least they made some pretty significant improvements.
- azureskies88, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1I can't think of a single functional aspect of automobile racing where this would even be a little bit true.
- azureskies88, on 01/20/2009, -1/+2I appreciate the fact that an F1 car can outperform a primitive NASCAR car in any conceivable situation.
- plingboot, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Yeah, go faster yellow?
- alexcroox, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Bring it home again Hamilton!
- syntaxgs, on 01/22/2009, -0/+1Formula 1,,,
- physco827, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1this renault is the only ugly new f1 car i have seen. All the other ones look beautiful.
- mgadalsky, on 02/11/2009, -0/+1Very useful. I dont get it. http://drinkster.info
- slicecom, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1The Ferrari's nose is way too long. The Williams is the only nice looking car unveiled so far IMO.
- inactive, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1to be honest. This years cars are turning out better then i expected. With the thing that BMW had shown earlier i thought these years car were gonna be fugly as hell.
- KurtLopes, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1KERS
From 2009 teams have the option of employing a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) to boost their car’s performance. As its name implies, a KERS recovers the (normally wasted) kinetic energy generated by the car’s braking process. This energy is stored using a mechanical flywheel or an electrical battery and then made available to the driver, in set amounts per lap, via a ‘boost button’ on the steering wheel. Under the current regulations the power gain equates to around 80 horsepower, available for just under seven seconds per lap. This could be worth several tenths of a second in terms of lap time, but the weight and packaging of the system - and its impact on the car’s weight distribution - also have to be taken into account.
http://www.formula1.com/news/features/2008/11/8741 ... - MrARPA, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1" The FW31's most distinctive feature lies beneath the chassis where Williams have taken the bold approach of producing own flywheel-based Kinetic Energy Recovery System, in contrast to the battery devices that the rest of the teams have developed"
What do Williams know that the rest don't ? Williams are my favourite team so I hope this gamble pays off and they get back to winning ways. - physco827, on 01/20/2009, -1/+1Thanks for the picture of the new sauber, but don't care for you opinion after.
- slicecom, on 01/20/2009, -1/+1The Williams is pretty, but yeah, all the other cars unveiled so far are pretty ugly.
- colonelbuckshot, on 01/20/2009, -1/+1The R29 is ugly. Most of the 2009 cars are ugly thanks to the stupid new regulations. The exception is Ferrari:

http://www.autosport.com/gallery/picture_free.php/ ... - manneredrock, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0@ chetanthacker: the new policies of FIA will help cars become more reliable. that means if you go out to buy a car for yourself. you'd prefer the auto maker who is in racing field and has fast, reliable cars. although it costs you the fun, the hardcore racing
- Double-Z, on 01/20/2009, -1/+1I literally don't care. F1 has become boring, bland, and unexciting. It can cease to exist totally for all I care.
Bring back danger, bring back challenge, bring back dirty tricks and crashes, and I will watch it again. - Napiertt, on 01/20/2009, -2/+2The new cars all look like crap this season as a result of the new design restrictions.
- berobreo, on 01/20/2009, -0/+0Vamos Alonso !!!
- manneredrock, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0it doesn't matter if these cars aren't beauties, they can be the beasts. you've seen bugatti veyron. It's an ugly car but does 407 kph, beats mclaren slr by 4-5 cars lead in a quarter mile drag
- TheAcidQueen, on 01/20/2009, -7/+6http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/72888
Sauber today.
Forza Ferrari!
Although I hope the best driver in F1 (Alonso) gets a good chance at the championship rather than that arrogant ***** Lewis... - syntaxgs, on 01/20/2009, -4/+1These cars have nothing on a Ferrari 575 =P
- IvesMozart, on 01/20/2009, -5/+1I will say what I always say about F1: Fire those old farts and hire Jeremy Clarkson!
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -10/+2Vodafone McLaren Mercedes =) Go Lewis!
Die Ferrari Die
Lil Kimi needs to retire!
