- BoneStamp, on 07/06/2009, -0/+77As usual, there was once an article that went with the video. The throttle cable broke. The co-pilot took over the wheel while the driver operated the throttle manually under the hood. They coordinated shifting using their radios.
- pinguz, on 07/06/2009, -1/+38Rally drivers are awesome. And they have good manners, too.

- Xaevier, on 07/06/2009, -0/+35And ruin a perfectly good pair of shoelaces?
- angrycat, on 07/06/2009, -0/+33I have witnessed a similar situation. Except the codriver took his shoelaces and tied it to the throttle body and the driver simply held onto the other end of the shoestring through his window and controlled the throttle that way.
- AlKo, on 07/06/2009, -1/+34The driver gets out of the car at around 1:40... starts climbing under the hood at 2:05... shenanigans begin at 2:43.
- vecera, on 07/06/2009, -0/+25Took me a while to realize what was going on, at which point I realized it was AMAZING.
- mydigglogin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+21http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5oRAVm_DDE - check out the turn at the end. Rally drivers rock.
- breakzoidbeg, on 07/06/2009, -4/+25Any time anyone calls the French cheese eating surrender monkeys again, I'll remember this clip. That is how you push forward!
- Frixionburne, on 07/06/2009, -0/+21Rally drivers, and rally racing in general is so much more important to consumer vehicles than F1 racing is it isn't funny. Not only do the drivers usually do this for the love of the sport but the racing scene actually produces production cars. Last time I checked Ferrari doesn't produce street legal versions of the racecars the use, but you can sure as hell buy a lancer or a WRX without breaking the bank.
Hats off to rally racing. - mattclare, on 07/06/2009, -0/+17Congratulations, that was brave, but next time your throttle cable snaps please just use your shoe laces. That's what former WRC Champion Carlos Saiz did in his Ford Escort when it happened in him in the late 90s.
- Coven, on 07/06/2009, -2/+16only left turns in NASCAR too
- xpinchx, on 07/06/2009, -0/+14That would be the logical thing to do. If you're french the first idea that comes to mind is to have a human sit under the hood and manipulate the throttle by hand. Whatever gets you across the finish line I guess.
- m3arvk, on 07/06/2009, -1/+11The driver went into the engine compartment to manually activate the throttle mechanism. You don't need audio to know that that's pretty hardcore.
- klipz, on 07/07/2009, -0/+10Because you don't hold the throttle down when you shift.
- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+9I like how he takes the time to buckle up with his boy under the hood. . .. .
Seriously where is the ***** duct tape? - OpCzar, on 07/07/2009, -0/+9Out of the Car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvZu6e5vrQA#t=1m40s

- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7Rally drivers aren't normal drivers. They're insane.
- jba68, on 07/06/2009, -1/+8Nicely played Frenchy
- coreylol, on 07/06/2009, -3/+10thats awesome! you don't see that kind of dedication in nascar...rally truely is the purest form of motorsport.
- make7upyours06, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6well.. there was no element of surprise watching the video, as a spectator watching it live, you don't expect something like this (even for rally races). Considering most people read the description, or at least part of, before watching the video, it is not the same as being a spectator of the sport (one thing is being a spectator and another is a viewer), but thanks for your attempt at being a smartass :D
- piieerrrree, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5oh hey now :(
- davidrools, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5They would have been disqualified in today's WRC for driving without seatbelts fastened. Yeah, it's a shame that rules have to spoil the fun sometimes, but that's a fair rule for driver safety.
- make7upyours06, on 07/06/2009, -2/+7i can't imagine being a spectator and seeing that coming around the corner... ''what the... "
- Frixionburne, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5only 30 were made, and you aren't allowed to drive them on the street. No one has ever taken delivery of their FXX because Ferarri keep it until you call and they take it on a lorry to your local trackday. To me, this doesn't qualify as a street legal production car.
I can drive a wrx sti to school. - Coven, on 07/07/2009, -1/+5*head asplode*
- handheldchimp, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5Your comment wasn't worth the pixels on my screen.
- TheHIV, on 07/06/2009, -2/+5Your sarcasm isn't irritating at all.
- grantmoore3d, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4Anyone up for a French Fry?
- jwanderson, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I agree with make7upyours06's logic, even though his name makes me want to vomit.
- kmlove, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2That guy is crazy. You can be over committed to something, and he indeed is.
- geesamba, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2It's around 55s. Money slide.
- asskicker32, on 07/07/2009, -1/+3fxx
- Narishma, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1You just answered your own question before asking it.
- CWeed, on 07/06/2009, -3/+4except for the tracks where they turn right too...
- bicbmx, on 07/29/2009, -0/+1Awesome, bet it was hot under there.
- skit4king, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Mmmm, French sticks!
- MYarms, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Typical american attitude.
- loathing, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Don't you mean freedom fry?
- ultralights, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Chuck is loving his rally sports at the moment!
- rDigital, on 07/06/2009, -3/+3I can, because I just saw it. I'm assuming that you saw it as well. So how are you having trouble imagining it?
I'd say "Look, there's a guy under the hood." - jwanderson, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1Do you really need to hear a high quality version of this? Turn your volume down or mute, the sound is barely necessary for appreciation.
- klipz, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1To be fair, a stock Lancer Evo or WRX STI are still far from the rally inspired cars they come from.
- bde5, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1They are not all those things but they certainly build ***** cars.
- DeadSheep, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0took me a while to figure out what the hell he was doing.....once i realized what was going on i nearly semened. europians know how to live life....and come dangerously close to ending it.
- WillieSLT, on 07/06/2009, -4/+3I don't remember who exactly, but I remember seeing the driver and co-driver (I'm sure it's happened multiple times) having to control their windshield wipers with a string or something along those lines!
- Dino451, on 07/06/2009, -5/+3only one driver in nascar
