- andydumi, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13You could see it coming a mile away. They have been arguing about it since Brawn came out with the winglets and they are dominating the practices.
- Disgod, on 03/27/2009, -0/+11it wouldn't be Formula 1 if teams weren't pushing the limits of the regulations. Give an F1 team an inch and they'll take a mile, but that's what I like about F1.
- Joodtimes, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9Wow! A Formula 1 story made the front page on digg.
Honda said all last season they are focusing on this years car. I don't believe they have overlooked a thing or that the diffuser isn't well within the letter and spirit of the FIA regulation. Regardless of how the diffuser situation turns out, this is going to be one hell of an opener. All new cars...all bets off. Go Brawn GP!!! (and go Kubica...hope he has a car this year that supports his talent.) - nigelmansell, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8FAIL when new rules are changed 2 weeks prior to start of season. get your acts together FIA.
- BridgeBurner, on 03/27/2009, -0/+7F1 wouldn't be F1 without a controversy. Can't wait to watch practice tonight.
- mooninite, on 03/27/2009, -0/+5Yep. It's not the "durr hurr we all have the same vehicles" like certain other motorsporting events. Car + driver skill is much more exciting.
- EarlOfLade, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4I so look forward to see what Brawn GP can accomplish in the opener... 1:30am can't come fast enough!
What I noticed in the article was that BGP said they had worked with the FIA tech division and they had cleared the diffuser. If that is the case, BGP should be in the green and should not face any problems in this race. - chicagospur, on 03/27/2009, -1/+4Ferrari protesting when other teams are doing well. Never saw that coming...
- andydumi, on 03/27/2009, -0/+3They did clear it today, or I guess yesterday race time. The first protest was an Australia only stewards' protest.
However the new protest is an official protest that will be evaluated next Wednesday and will affect all races going forward. - DarwinBC, on 03/27/2009, -0/+2What practice were you watching? The cars are 1/2 a second faster in lap times now then they were this last year.
- EarlOfLade, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1And I bet you, some will jump on the new finance rule and go ape ***** crazy and advance leaps and bounds technically. And then the "biggies" will complain and want use more money.
I would have liked to see a bit larger limit on the low-finance option and let there be no limit in the other category other than limits of technical nature. Not sure which one I'd bet on though. - inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+1Bernie is being a bitch and thats all i have to say.
- billyelliotmann, on 03/27/2009, -0/+0The first turn will be interesting as at least one third, if not one half, of the field will lose those shovels on the front of the car.
- gbuk, on 03/27/2009, -1/+1I don't know much about the new rule changes yet. I've been watching F1 since 1997. To me, the cars looked very slow in Australian Practice. Kinda reminded me of IRL cars. Hopefully those who want more on-track overtaking will be satisfied.
- vivixmedia, on 03/27/2009, -2/+0the point system stays the same they decided not to change it, i picked Lewis to win on http://www.formula1pool.com hopefully he will win lol.
- Chirp08, on 03/27/2009, -3/+1Except that Nascar has the same kind of limits meaning that you have to find the same kind of small things to push your car to the next level. And since the cars are so equal is more about driving skill then the car, unlike F1 which is the opposite.
- Praystation, on 03/27/2009, -6/+2Seriously, The FIA is just ruining F1 making too many rule changes at once. The rule changes should be made SLOWLY over a few years allowing the teams to assimilate to the new rules. The Mclaren team is going to be doing uber crap this season because the engineering department didn't have enough time to properly redesign their car. I can't imagine the pain the R&D teams have gone through these past few months...
