- 5m0k3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19Nothing like drawing attention from the cops. That thing would be sweet though
- DeFex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18perfect for sitting behind an SUV in a traffic jam, you will be at just the right level to breathe the most exhaust fumes.
- digggggggggg, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20You can't cut through traffic in it though. Save yourself $45k and buy a motorcycle as insurance against being late.
- EasY_TargeT, on 10/11/2007, -4/+19not really roads still have speed limits.
- IronDonut, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13You ever see one of these cars crash into a wall at 200mph and watch the driver walk out? The crash performance of these cars is a lot better than your average street car.
- RoroCo, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14No wheel wells... No bumpers... No windshield... Yeah... I am sure this thing is street legal. Do they classify it as a motorcycle, because as a car, this thing is completely unsafe on the roads.
- dpcdomino, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Street legal my ass.
I bet you would get pulled over frequently in this thing...legal or not. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9the movie on the ebay page is pathetic, AC/DC blasting powerchords as it lumps along at 30mph in a mall. you can just hear the car's spirit screaming "just kill me now."
- borninda818, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Buddy, what about the thousands of people who have been riding bikes safely for decades? What do you tell them. It's the driver not the bike.
- cmadach, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7great, so i can get it to work but i can't clear the speed bumps leading to the parking lot.
- Wolfie351, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6It's not walls they need to worry about, it's OTHER cars. Getting t-boned by any regular sedan would prove fatal. A bumper to the head wouldn't be fun.
- uselessexpert, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Husband: Hey hon, I'm going for a ride....
Wife: Hold on, I'll go with ya.
Husband: Unless you want to sit on the spoiler, let's go! - BESTenemy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5The car comes standard with random traffic violation generator.
- peranadigital, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5A full race spec car is a bit much for everyday use but it would be great to be able to drive to the track instead of having to tow it there. Might also be handy to silence the local teenagers in their stickered up, spoiler wearing buzz boxes.
- Nougat, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Doesn't have to be crash safe in order to be street legal.
- LeanenStreet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4My R6 does 0-60 in less than three seconds and I find quite a few places to use that in the "real world".
- flazz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5you just don't get it, do you.
- jserio, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5True. A Hummer could drive right over you. I do wonder if this can clear a tractor trailer though.
- hfactor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4"It's the driver not the bike."
Sadly, more often than not, it´s the other drivers too.
I love my bike, but I don´t feel safe on it just because I´m a good driver. Any accident that would leave a scratch on my car (due to some idiot suddenly changing lanes without looking first, for example) could easily leave me dead. - jserio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Exactly! Seems like this car is only good for doing "donuts." Either that or the driver is so ***** he can't control the car to make it drive straight.
- spc2226, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This guy has a $100k Porsche Turbo S in the background (pic facing the garage) but can't splurge on a nicer camera to take decent pictures?
- bonked, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Really is that why the manufacturers don't automatically have the mounts drilled? There are numerous states that do not require a front plate.
- AnotherThought, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2im going to need a customized hanger to hang my briefcase.. talking about being one with your car.
- SLYK, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5No wheel wells?
You've seen the prowler, yes?
No bumpers?
The definition of bumper is very vague.
No windshield?
Look at older cars, even though they are sometimes exempt. Also, look at other street legal cars such as Manx buggies, even jeeps.
It wouldn't be classified as a motorcycle....wheel base is too large. And, as IronDonut said....these things are amazingly safe (granted...while wearing a helmet and hans device). - jserio, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Don't some (most) states require front license plates? Where would you mount it?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Where exactly WON'T you need to go 0-60 in 2.5 seconds in the real world? ***** signaling, peel off and cut in front I always say.
- migitalwarfare, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2nope, not on your lap, considering you have to remove the steering wheel to get in and out
- Slovenian6474, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3FTEA (from the ebay auction) "It is now Street legal here in Florida!...This car was also titled in Indiana, but I am not sure what the rules are in other states. So I am not promising that its street legal in any other state."
- SilkSteel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It has an electric starter.
- imthe1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2article says it has an electric starter
- HA5TY, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Panoz has been making street legal race cars for a loooong time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panoz
- Slovenian6474, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What do you tell them? Congrats on having a better IQ.
- thomas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The engine may be street legal but the rest of the car isn't.
- jocamero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1No comparison.
- g00ee, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2"the car's outfitted with all the required lighting" - It looks like it has turn signals on the front
- wrc_michael, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Too bad they put a Chevy in it. Hope it comes with a mechanic.
- peranadigital, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Read the article. It's legal in at least two states, no promises on the others but there's nothing to really stop it. You only have to meet emmissions and engineering specs.
- dephrye, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Very slick ride, though the 'excite' logo makes it seem a bit dated.
- judbeasley, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Man I would feel so pimped out driving around in this. This is quite funny because last weekend I was riding with a buddy and I said "Imagine an Indy car just pulled up beside us" Then 5 days later this comes on digg. Crrraaaazzzy !
- SilkSteel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Is that just a square block of wood acting as the rear bumper?
- Sixcolors, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Florida doesn't the last I checked. Texas does, but there are so many cars and trucks driving around without them.
- KniteWulf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1While it may be extremely low to the ground for obvious reasons, I'm pretty sure I'd notice it in traffic. I mean, when you see a gap in traffic in a traffic jam, its noticeable, because you have all of these SUVs driving around, so the wall of traffic is generally higher. A couple days ago I noticed the same effect, and lo and behold there was a Lotus Elise in traffic. Same principle for every small exotic, or your street-legal Indy car.
- Vrail, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Obviously you two kids have never driven a real car.
- slapthemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Not convinced.
- Jakyll, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1WTF, a Chevy small block powered, running open headers? An Indy car SHOULD NOT sound like a '69 Camaro!!!
- lazn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Here in AZ you can get a sand rail street legal, or a golf cart, or a ATV.. all can be licensed and driven on the roads...
So I don't see why not a Indy Car. - 3adkied, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think your face would be the only space available.
- Sixcolors, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Assuming that you live somewhere where it's legal to ride between cars.
- FieldAnonymouse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0A friend brought this up when I showed him. Are there any laws about how short a car can be from the ground to the highest point on the body? I know F1 cars are very short.
- Sixcolors, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1He's not hungry for donuts! He's hungry... for HOT POCKETS!
