- jaygeeze, on 01/06/2009, -2/+13This is quite awesome, especially because they're actual trucks and not models.
- zambuka, on 01/06/2009, -0/+9Absolutely gobsmackingly awsome.
Unfortunately in about 6 to 12 months time the whole tilt shift thing is going to be so over used by every photographer and his dog, turning an otherwise great technique into a "ho-hum seen it a million times" effect. Much like the whole swirly explosion effect that is currently overused by graphic designers. - irishjays, on 01/06/2009, -0/+9This must be what we look like to the gods

- ivanisavich, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5I don't think I've ever gone "woooooaaaaaah" so many times in one vid.
Had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't little miniatures in a stop-motion animation. Seeing the live people dispersed throughout some of the shots helped.
Amazing work! - inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5Check his other *****
http://keithloutit.com/ - kelaltieri, on 01/06/2009, -0/+5much prettier in HD. :)
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5That looks like Robot Chicken
- gotcheaprice, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Only seen this in photography before, so this is pretty cool to apply it to stop motion to make a video. You could probably do it with a tilt shift lens and a canon 5d in it's video mode, but not sure since I haven't used one of those lens before.
- SriLankan1, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4Thanks. I saw the beach one last week but the Bathtub series is just reallllly incredible.....and bathtub 3 has a techno Knight Rider theme which rocks......
- outlw6669, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4That was ***** sweet!
- SEOtonie, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4tilt-shift video is great
- irishjays, on 01/06/2009, -1/+5Yeah, American Idol tells me what is good too.
- serif69, on 01/06/2009, -0/+4OH HOHOHOHOHO RACEWAY PARK!
- therealrico, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Yeah I was surprised I didn't see this mentioned earlier, not only is it the American flag, but this event is in Brisbane Australia. Why is there an American flag at a Monster truck show in Australia. . . I could understand if it was in Georgia or really anywhere in the states for that matter.
- brodie7838, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man!!!!
- Tollboi, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3True it can be simulated but it loses its effectivness when there are taller items in the middle ground that should not be blurred but do because they cross into the sections that you are blurring to simulate the tilt shift lens. This can be fixed in a still photograph but not so easily in a video. I have read many of the authors comments when he first happened to post this and I know for a fact he did have the actual tilt shift lens and I want to say he was using a D90 (I am not positive about the camera though).
- bunk3rk1ng, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4Way sick.
- Tollboi, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3he used an actual lens, he mentioned it in his original viemo post. It is most evident when the fire breathing dino car thing is out there, if it was simulated his head would be blurred when it crossed the background
- MrChunks, on 01/06/2009, -1/+4The music isn't to your taste.. so what? It is to others.
- roho76, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3Monster Truck Madness!!!!
People who go to these kinds of events deserve to suck in all the noxious fumes from such an event. ***** Redneck Hillbilly's. I love the American Flag painted on the ground, somehow reminding everyone in that building they are the patriots. - skaface69, on 01/06/2009, -0/+3One of the coolest videos I have ever seen.
- UberGeek404, on 01/06/2009, -2/+5Trucks 1
air quality 0 - flammablewater, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Now we know how Detroit is getting rid of all that over stock.
- Falldog, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I wonder if he actually used tilt shift, or the photoshop equivalent.
- Singular1ty, on 01/06/2009, -1/+3the effect can be easily simulated by blurring select portions of an image.
- magicalhobo, on 01/06/2009, -0/+25 BUCKS 5 BUCKS 5 BUCKS!
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY! - asskicker32, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2I was thinking he was going to use a tilt/shift lens on a DSLR in video mode, but it looks like just burst mode for several minutes at a time, sped up.
- timdorr, on 01/06/2009, -0/+2Yeah, it's pretty simple to achieve in Photoshop or After Effects. But I think the thing that really gives this video the extra bit of punch is the way it appears to be stop-motion animated. That will take a lot more effort because it's not as simple as speeding it up. You've got to select the right frames to use. Maybe an expression in AE might be able to replicate it (some sort of wobble on time), but it's going to look best if you do it by hand and that's going to take a *while*.
- factsahoy, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1Great. Just when people were getting over LDR pictures fraudulently labeled "HDR", we have this.
- inactive, on 01/07/2009, -0/+1mamas and papas aren't cool anymore? damn.
- jgubbe, on 05/12/2009, -0/+1Gumbi and his horse.
- digitaltoast, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1There's a website that can easily do this for pictures called tiltshiftmaker.com - I just got a harbour full of toy boats in about 20 secs!
- danvi, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1I need to by a tilt-shift lens; This is really neat.
- lalonauta, on 01/08/2009, -0/+1I get it. They're made of Lego®!
- TigerStar337, on 01/06/2009, -2/+2I saw this a month ago at: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_di ...
- DaltonZ, on 01/06/2009, -1/+1What's your point? It was a minor anecdote, and I still dugg the story.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -3/+3Monday, Monday... can't trust that day,
Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be...
Oh Monday Monday, how could you leave - and not take me?
..... every other day, every other day! every other day every other day of the week is fiiiiiiiiiiine yeah!
</ The Mamas And The Papas> - smedrick, on 01/06/2009, -3/+3The video is awesome, but the monster truck rally is, well...people pay to see this?
- guitargraham, on 01/11/2009, -0/+0That's sweet! But he wouldn't have had to use photoshop for the tilt shift parts... he could have used this: http://digg.com/software/Tilt_Shift_Maker
- squeezza, on 05/19/2009, -0/+0cool! check out mine tilt shift video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfd3rKNnsK0
- DaltonZ, on 01/06/2009, -4/+3Awesome. Photography implementing tilt-shift is a great idea and has a stunning effect, but using it like this is just inspired. Very creative and well done.
Sadly, the music sucks. - chaos7, on 01/06/2009, -7/+3bad music
