- jgubbe, on 01/25/2009, -0/+37After doing something over and over you become complacent and that is when accidents occur. Just like in heavy construction you always have to keep your head on a swivel and never get too relaxed.
- aeiou, on 01/25/2009, -1/+20I was at the show. Terrible Accident. They didn't say how long he lived, but he did make it to the hospital. I just hope he didn't suffer too much.
- daschupa, on 01/26/2009, -2/+19Yes, it will be at 2pm. Anyone can come, seating is limited. You pay for the whole seat, BUT YOU'LL ONLY NEED THE EDGE!
- jotux, on 01/26/2009, -4/+21I feel bad for laughing at that.
- smileydude, on 01/26/2009, -0/+16I've been looking, my local fox just showed it in entirety. Everything on the web seems to stop before the collision.
Look what turned up while searching for the video
http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/local/index.php?nt ... - OutpostNetwork, on 01/26/2009, -0/+13The video that the fan shot shows the promoter walking right in the way of one of the trucks. Amazing that he would not look both ways before going out to the middle of the floor. I'm sure with the truck being so high off the ground the driver never saw him. It's a tragedy that could of easily been avoided.
The guy was only 41 years old. He had a wife and 2 daughters. My thoughts go out to them. Here's a link to a page with more information about him http://www.madison.com/tct/news/stories/434692 - noahgelman, on 01/26/2009, -0/+12Don't get normal retards confused with religious nuts
- jggube, on 01/25/2009, -5/+15Hardly a good way to promote going to Monster truck rallies.
- elmuerte17, on 01/26/2009, -1/+10I suppose you're one of those people that thinks just because something kills one or two people it should be banned. How about we ban vehicles altogether, considering how many people die in them? What's next? Padded bars on the jungle gym? Seat belts on swings? The complete and total banning of all fast foods and sugary caffeinated beverages? Hey, let's soften every sharp corner in the world and put the responsibility for people's stupidity on the jackasses that build such dangerous devices. People shouldn't have to learn and use common sense, it discriminates against the idiots.
/rant - sockpuppets, on 01/26/2009, -8/+15A SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! you'll never forget.
- militaryminds, on 01/26/2009, -2/+8suicide maybe?

- Gnar04, on 01/26/2009, -3/+9it will definitely be ONE NIGHT ONLY!!!
- Myztry, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6It's called morbid curiosity.
- archer104, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6 "You're far more at risk of getting injured driving to the event or home with your seat belts on and driving the speed limit."
wow - cowboy86, on 01/26/2009, -3/+8Anyone find the full video?
- tnoy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Yes, the trucks are loud as hell, and oven its so ***** loud that the sound is comming from EVERYWHERE.. you cant tell whats comming from where.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6My heart skipped a beat when I saw the final frame in the video. RIP
- jordantneff, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6WTF is with these monster truck related deaths all of the sudden?
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6Karma? Both times someone was killed and both times it was a freak accident. I don't think that this was karma. Just unusual that these two tragic events happened so close together.
- DrummerAndrew, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4It looks like the first truck went to the wrong side and the guy was thinking that no other truck would come by that side. Normally each truck would go to the opposite side it starts on, so the one that starts on the left would go to the right. Sad, nonetheless.
- vaguilera, on 01/26/2009, -2/+6that arena is too small
- ZER0JACK, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4Seats only TEN BUCKS!
- fsweep, on 01/26/2009, -1/+4Does this meet the definition of "ironic?"
- shortmilton, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3The indoor shows are just an accident waiting to happen. They shouldn't turn those things loose indoors.
- brundlefly76, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3People have a really hard time measuring safety risk when highly publicized accidents happen.
Statistically, sitting in a Monster Truck Rally is literally 1000x safer than the drive to and from the show.
This wasn't even a spectator accident - in fact the fact that it was a Monster Truck show isn't even really relevant - if you don't look where you are walking around motor vehicles you can get hit and die in front of your own home.
A tragic freak accident is not statistically relevant just because it makes it on television, or because it sadly involves a child, or because two freak accidents happen within a 10-day period. Its statistically relevant when it becomes a predictable recurring risk. - hansondr, on 01/26/2009, -1/+4Considering this is Digg I figured I'd see this posted with a title like 'M-M-M-MONSTER KILL', I applaud your restraint louiebaur.
- FARMER, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2At first I dug the suicide comment (sorry to say) but comments made in the WTMJ news report - thanks to triont's link above changes my opinion. Though not shown in the above video, mentioned by the news anchor (and shown in the video that was dugg), instead of the two trucks passing each other after the jump and returning to the far end of the arena on the opposite side from where they started, one truck TURNS AROUND and returned to the far end of the arena on the same side he started from. Sadly, the second driver kept the correct formation and returned on the opposite side of the arena. The victim Wearing ear protection and thus oblivious to the sound, saw the first truck go by and thought it was safe to walk to the center of the arena.
He stepped in front of the second truck at the instant the truuck driver could not see him due to the blind spot these tall vehicles have. A tragic break in a routine manuver probably done thousands of times in the victims 16 years of promoting. - PaulOwen, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2It's not a popular thing to say, but whenever I hear about bungee jumpers whose ropes snap, alligator handlers who get eaten or monster truck promoters who get run over I think the same thing - whether you like it or not, it was in the post.
- 31073, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2My family knew him and his family well. Its sad, I guess he was a really great guy.
- nickajoe, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Dugg for saying "keep you head on a swilvel"....just like Ron Burgandy!
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2That was a great joke the third time.
- zaffeh, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2youtube deleted mine i re uploaded it
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e75_1233012465 - towle_42, on 01/26/2009, -1/+3I heard it on a police scanner and was like holy *****. but he impression I got was he passed out before he died
- tnoy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2I'd feel bad about laughing at that, but I came here to make that exact comment :(
- elmuerte17, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Digg him down if you will, but the man speaks the truth.
- elmuerte17, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2no, but directed attention in this case would be a direct subset of common sense... which he seemed to be lacking
- tnoy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Seeing someone run over in person is a little different than seeing a video.
- a117, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1LOL!
... we're all going to hell, aren't we? - nirvgorilla, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1Can we get a full, unedited from a different angle? I know there was at least 1 more angle.
- MorganPhoenix, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Will there be a monster truck jumping a line of cars and landing on top of the grave?
- Gnar04, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2::facepalm::
go read a dictionary. - inactive, on 01/26/2009, -2/+3Better a promoter than someone's child.
Now, maybe the safety standards will be re-evaluated and taken into consideration. - inactive, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2Most deaths are proceeded by a loss of consciousness
- midbc, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Yes
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Why. Was he evil? Had he wronged somebody, been a child molester? Cheated on his taxes. Stolen money from the xmas kettle?
No. He was simply in the wrong place at a moment in time. - tnoy, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2The trucks are pissed because they think they're going to be replaced with a Prius.
- AuburnTigers, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2JUST TEN BUX!
