- haentz, on 11/04/2008, -0/+20It's this new thing, called "advertising" and "sponsoring".
- AmericanParty, on 11/04/2008, -0/+17its been 8 min, make that 120 billion...
- wipis, on 11/04/2008, -1/+17Congrats Lewis. You better earn it. Renault and BMW and about a half dozen German drivers have you square in the cross hairs next year.
- Stavrosian, on 11/04/2008, -0/+16Bearing in mind the average attendance for a Grand Prix weekend is probably something like 300,000 people, with tickets costing hundreds of dollars, and the season lasting three-quarters of the year...I'd say quite a few people watch and care about racing.
- heavensblade, on 11/04/2008, -0/+16Ahh the rest of the world? You know the place that is not the USA.
- kkxxyy, on 11/04/2008, -2/+17Am I the only one who felt sorry for Massa after looking at that picture? =[
- wtfhaxorx, on 11/04/2008, -4/+19This is interesting, how could I live without knowing such things.
- jmbillings, on 11/04/2008, -1/+15What's a LeBron?
- Stavrosian, on 11/04/2008, -0/+13I'm sure you are just teasing, but for anybody who actually believes that to be the case - Glock was on slick tyres getting progressively cooler as the track got wetter. Once the tyres on a Formula 1 car drop below a certain temperature, grip becomes almost non-existant, and you are basically driving at 150mph on a sheet of ice.
There's been an argument made that Glock was doing fine until the last lap, which is plainly untrue. The last three laps were wet, with conditions getting worse on the track with each extra minute it rained, and the rain itself becoming heavier. Glock's split times dropped off exactly as you would expect in the situation - he actually significantly outperformed his teammate Jarno Trulli - the only other driver to stay on slick tyres.
His last three laps were:
1:18 (about in line with the field on Intermediate tyres, a couple of seconds faster than Trulli)
1:28 (starting to lose grip badly, but still 5 seconds faster than Trulli)
1:44 (No grip whatsoever, fighting to keep the car on the road, same time as Trulli)
Basically, Glock having a) the balls to stay out on slicks, and b) the skill to drive those laps 7-8 seconds faster than his teammate in the same condistions is the only reason it was even close. Hamilton was winning that title no matter what he did. - whatignorance, on 11/04/2008, -0/+12Or 100 billion Zimbabwean dollars, no wait make that 110 billion...
- Chiefster, on 11/04/2008, -0/+12Nice! I just watched the end of this race. If you don't know he won on the last turn of the last lap of the race
- Bermused, on 11/04/2008, -0/+11...about a billion people more than care a f*%k about basketball I guess
- Mujokan, on 11/04/2008, -1/+12I'm always pleased when the British win anything, just because it doesn't seem to happen that often.
- psykiv, on 11/04/2008, -0/+10He could get better, AND more.
- milkshaker, on 11/04/2008, -10/+20But, Will He Blend?
- dngermouse, on 11/02/2008, -2/+12WOW
that's like 1.9 billion Estonian Krooni's - skyjis6, on 11/04/2008, -0/+10Good for him. As long as people are willing to pay exorbitant prices for seats, merch, and brands, why not let the athlete have a huge slice?
- Kmap, on 11/04/2008, -2/+11Tiger Woods gets more for hitting a ball with a 'stick'
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+10Well look on the bright side. Massa is banging a Hotter Women.
- anshuman, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8I think Glock should get some last minute action too in the middle.. dont you think?
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -3/+11He could get better
- zhaojon, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8I'm 23, and I make less money than he does.
- hwy9nightkid, on 11/04/2008, -0/+8you better add some sarcasm to that last sentence! Nascar blows completely
- marshallpeck, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7of fried chicken
- johnlandes, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7Actually, £100 million = €125 million.
- ButchersBoy, on 11/04/2008, -0/+7I think he did just earn it.
- Rotzooi, on 11/04/2008, -0/+6That sounds novel and titillating, tell us more!

http://files3.fluxstatic.com/00A4E4EE000930DA00070 ... - nigelmansell, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5ha and the sad part is, Timo could be shot at Brazil!
- hookai, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5that's what she said?!
- olives, on 11/04/2008, -0/+5It usually pisses me off when people use this meme but you used it properly.
- fearlessfx, on 11/04/2008, -1/+5Damn, thats enough money to buy 194,582.467 ounces of platinum... he could be the blingest black dude the world has ever seen.
- lysdexia, on 11/04/2008, -1/+5Exactly - and it would be worthwhile adding that, good as Glock is, he was unable to hand Hamilton 98 points.
- Zique, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4It doesn't say anything about sponsorship deals etc.
- atb12688, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4More than Tiger? Damn...
- rodrigo74, on 11/04/2008, -2/+6Massa really deserved this title; he won more races in the season, and drove brilliantly in Interlagos, while Hamilton was being beat by a Toro Rosso. And on top of that, Massa is a much more approachable and down-to-Earth guy.
- Stavrosian, on 11/04/2008, -1/+5Oh, and another point I forgot to make - if Glock, for some inexplicable reason, really wanted to ensure Hamilton won the title, he would have just come in for wet tyres like everybody else, thus ensuring he would have stayed in 7th place, not gone up to 4th.
- daridave, on 11/04/2008, -0/+4Actually that's a bad picture. She's smoking hot. But anyway, about the real subject of the matter... Hamilton isn't worth that money! He constantly makes mistakes and he won by ONE point... not to mention Massa actually has MORE wins than him and his a better gentleman in and out of the track! It's obviously not Hamilton's last championship win, but I don't expect him to be a "sure bet" next year -- there's that other team called FERRARI (and heck, even BMW) who is pretty much seeing red right now... if they improve their failure ratio just a bit, performance-wise they are still unmatched. He's a lucky champion and by FAR, *NOT* a good pilot. Betting on him is still a very blind bet in my educated opinion, but you can't blame the English for being so proud. It's been so long since they had a champion.
- sjmueller, on 11/04/2008, -1/+5And who cares about NASCAR? I guess I'd have to live in a red state to understand.
- ripple123, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3it sure made for a bloody great race tho.
- Napiertt, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3Massa was gifted Spa. I count Spa as a Hamilton win, no matter what the FIA says. Hamilton is down to earth as well, but, yeah, Massa is a class act.
- whatignorance, on 11/04/2008, -1/+4I hope he goes onto win more comfortably next year, winning on the last turn of the final lap of the final race is cutting it a bit fine really. Maybe next year McLaren can put on more of a challenge for the constructors championship as well.
- mohsenxp, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3You mean I didn't choose to smoke these cigarettes by my own free will?
Damn this evil advertising thing you speak of!! - Cglass, on 11/04/2008, -1/+4I am pretty sure you just linked an even worse photo
*gears churn in brain*
Maybe you were being sarcastic?
*brain says he wasn't*
No you just have poor taste =.= - Chirp08, on 11/04/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure everyone who is 23 on digg combined makes less money then he does.
- inactive, on 11/04/2008, -1/+4Come on guys Damian is right. Have you seen the girls the rest of the grid has. They are like 10 times hotter then Nicole.
- Zique, on 11/04/2008, -1/+4Like half of F1 drivers make more than LeBron. Well, at least Raikkonen and Hamilton do, probably Massa and Alonso too, maybe even Kubika.
- Aitese, on 11/04/2008, -1/+3Pity they're Brazilian then...
- Swivelstick, on 11/04/2008, -1/+3Well it is the Dailymail but I think Hamilton would appeal to more people outside of the sport whilst Schumacher was a king to fans of the sport he was never really relaxed in front of the camera so his appeal was limited in an advertising sense. All that said it's early days and who really knows how much he'll make.
