- protogenxl, on 07/07/2008, -1/+15Top Gear's The Stig had this to say.
... - infinitespecter, on 07/07/2008, -2/+15No, not really. Schumacher already did it.
- Sazafraz, on 07/06/2008, -1/+13This was an amazing race to watch. I knew Hamilton was good but never understood the cult like following he has... but when you see him lap pretty much everybody else in the race (the only people he didn't lap were Heidfeld and Barrichello)
- TimmyA, on 07/06/2008, -4/+15Amazing GP. Nice to see the McLaren strategists get it right (so too for Honda and Rubens), and a flawless drive in the wet from Hamilton, one which the likes of Schumacher or Senna would have been proud of.
- Slippy, on 07/07/2008, -0/+8He was actually standing on Kimi's bag, it was pointed out to him by the man holding the umbrella but he didnt move, so kimi pushed him off and he tripped
- RetepNamenots, on 07/07/2008, -1/+9Like.. "Somebody won the British Grand Prix! Digg This!"
- inactive, on 07/07/2008, -1/+9This was possibly the most hilarious race ever driven! Anyone else notice that Massa spun out like 300 times? I couldn't stop laughing, everyone was all over the place! The announcers about had a heart attack because Hamilton kept his intermediates on. "OMG, he's keeping intermediates on!!" (okay, maybe they didn't say "OMG".)
Rain races kick ass. - gnews, on 07/06/2008, -0/+7And even Heidfeld and Barrichello was +01:08.577 and +01:22.273 minutes behind him... Awesome race for Hamilton!
- RetepNamenots, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7Lol, it was on yesterday, and you expect to be able to walk through today without knowing the result? It's like not watching the world cup and then being surprised the next day...
- curiousgrge, on 07/07/2008, -1/+8Somehow you know he'll end up being a future Stig.
- Kmap, on 07/07/2008, -0/+7I have been critical of Hamilton in the last few races with the number of costly mistakes he has been making recently. But yesterday even I couldn't believe his Senna/Schumacher-like performance in the wet. Well done lewis, you really deserved it.
- thecheatah, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6I was watching it, I think the mclaren team changed there tires and the ferrari team didnt at one point. They differed on whether the rain would continue or not. I guess the mclaren team was right in that the rain would continue.
- Virgule, on 07/07/2008, -0/+6Now its a triple lead:
1 Lewis Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) 48
2 Felipe Massa (Ferrari) 48
3 Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) 48
4 Robert Kubica (BMW Sauber) 46

- Handonam, on 07/07/2008, -5/+10ugh damnit, was going to watch the recording later...
now i know he won :( - infinitespecter, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Supporting evidence? How about the letter that McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh wrote to the FIA to apologize for lying about having the information and cheating.
"McLaren have admitted that the confidential technical information they obtained from Ferrari in the Formula One spy controversy was passed on to more of their employees than they initially thought. "
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/a ... - Summary
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/a ... - Letter in Full - cazlar, on 07/07/2008, -1/+5A great win. Changing conditions, cars spinning off the track left and right, and he was just so consistently faster than everyone lap after lap (barring Rubens during his full wet period). As TimmyA said, except for one slight off during the heavy rain (when he was so far ahead it didn't matter), a flawless drive.
- Kvasaari, on 07/07/2008, -5/+9Grats, but Kimi will prevail this year :p
- j3rm1981, on 07/07/2008, -0/+4Not "flawless". He did go off-track once. But _nicely_ recovered and held together. I suppose when you're (at the time) between 20-30 seconds ahead, you can afford a teeny slip-up.
Fab GP. Well done to Lewis. - zubin, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3an interesting infographic on WIRED that explains what McLaren learnt when they used the Ferrari confidential information that was leaked to them by Stepney.
http://www.wired.com/cars/coolwheels/magazine/16-0 ... - leoedin, on 07/07/2008, -2/+5You didn't watch the race did you? While there was certainly some aspects that were probably controlled by the team (the choice to change the tires while ferrari didn't), the fact hamilton managed to keep it going, and to win by almost a lap in pouring rain and very wet conditions is incredible, and he deserves a lot of credit for it. Hamilton is one of the best drivers in formula 1 right now, and while the car certainly plays a part, in yesterdays race it was almost all driver skill. The cars weren't going at their maximum speeds for the second 2/3rds of the race, and so it was more about being able to control a (traction-control-less) car.
- StokieBread, on 07/07/2008, -3/+6Hamilton finished above Alonso when they had the same car.
- zubin, on 07/07/2008, -1/+4I don't agree with the poster's style of commenting above, but there IS truth to what he's saying.
Actually, there is pretty hard evidence that McLaren and team DID cheat last season.
It's a rather long read, but you'll see that Lewis, Alonso and team had access to technical Ferrari data, like how their aerodynamics have been set up, their fuel mileage, their car specs and lots more.

- cifrancgx, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3Pretty awesome race! It's always fun when it rains!
- kansai22, on 07/07/2008, -2/+5Alonso better than Hamilton lol thats funny. Where are you from Spain?
- doggers, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3Hamilton is only 23, if he wins this year he will be the youngest world champion ever, Alonso was 24.
- thailand1972, on 07/07/2008, -0/+3"Supporting evidence please?"
You obviously know nothing about F1. - Kmap, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2http://youtube.com/watch?v=KFnnwdlerJM
- ccxftw, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2It would have been a good race had Ferrari not left the same inters on during the second stop. Atleast this creates an interesting situation in the standings. Kimi would be in the lead if it were not for the Canada incident...
- Rapax, on 07/07/2008, -1/+3Considering he was fighting with Nakajima and Trulli towards the end, and also considering how Piquet was performing in essentially the same car, before he retired, I'd say you're totally off your rocker.
- thailand1972, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Well, by your own standards (racing is almost exclusively about the skill of the driver), it wouldn't matter what team/car Hamilton drove with/for - Super Aguri or Force India would be just as good for him as Maclaren. Shame really, since Super Aguri and Force India both have zero points so far this season - oh, and what do you know - Super Aguri have actually pulled out of the championship through lack of money. It would be good if they could sign the skilled drivers (since the car has little bearing on the result, according to yourself) to make it more equal against the big money teams like Ferrari and Maclaren who co-incidentally share the podiums almost every race. Just a coincidence though, right?
Oh, and if we do go by your standards, then what of Hamilton's mistakes this year? Crashing into the back of a car on a stop light - you don't get more amateur than that. - Fikiman, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I heard the press talking about the need of a couple safety cars during the race... of course, McLaren rules un Silverstone and a safety car would have put things a little bit difficult for the race leader...
- s4g4n, on 07/07/2008, -3/+5hamilton has a better car, but he runs red lights and crashes behind other formula 1 cars because he's a novice.
- Majhem, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Easy guys... its obvious Bossmiley has been living in Saddam's spider-hole for the last 3 years.
- fquednau, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2Even so, that was a prime example for a bad decision. Alonso did the same, but had enough clear-mindedness to quickly correct his mistake.
- Boofster, on 07/07/2008, -0/+2I still wonder how such well oiled and well paid teams of engineers can't figure out that Barichello was gaining 10+ seconds per lap on full wets. They need to stop being pussies and use the technology when appropriate. Ferrari would have won on full wets.
Not sure what Massa's deal was. Must be pretty embarrassing to lead the championship and then finish last. - Majhem, on 07/08/2008, -0/+2Why is Thailand1972 being dugg-down for this?
- mezer, on 07/07/2008, -1/+3Your a ***** *****. Thanks for ruining the race for those who hav'nt watched it yet.
- Zique, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2Oh yeah, McLaren getting a hold of that Ferrari data was just a pure accident. I'm sure they were about to deliver the data straight to officials to prove their innocence, but accidentally forgot about it. It's not like they even used it, just held it for months so some bad guys with bad intentions wouldn't get a hold of it.
As the season progresses, we'll really see how good McLaren is without stealing data from Ferrari. Unless, of course, they're still doing it. - CrashKC, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Thanks for THE SPOILER IN THE TITLE, *****.
- damawa42, on 07/10/2008, -0/+1It's McLaren, not Maclaren. So have you watched F1 this year?
- Teej, on 07/07/2008, -1/+2God damn it, I'm watching it right now.
- damawa42, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1Exactly what I was thinking of!
- hamstix, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1WHAT. A. RACE!
Onward Hockenheim! - Fikiman, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1True... got me there... I thought he was 23 when he won :P Wikipedia says otherwise...
- thailand1972, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1@kansai22, well Lewis still has to win 1 title, let alone 7.
- gutterboy, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Have you forgot about the entire first stint where Kimi closed in 8 second gap in a few laps after he got passed Heki.
- gutterboy, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Going off the track twice, not taking pole, and not setting fastest lap is hardly a flawless drive. The British press fellate Hamilton to no end. If Kimi/Ferrari would have made the right tyre choice it would have been a different race.
