- MCA2142, on 12/30/2008, -1/+15"Lewis, if a pussycat doll tells you that 'you're gonna get it tonight,' go to bed and have it." - Jeremy Clarkson commenting on Lewis staying up all night celebrating his championship victory.
- fandyboy, on 12/30/2008, -1/+13"Lewis Hamilton Smashed Down The Barriers In 2008"
Unlike Kimi Raikonnen who was smashing into barriers. - AmnesiacJack, on 12/30/2008, -2/+12Lewis made me interested in F1 again.
His was a story worth following this year. - slicecom, on 12/30/2008, -1/+9Me too! I thought I was watching yet another championship slip through his fingers. I was shaking with disbelief when the announcer started yelling "IS THAT GLOCK!? IS THAT GLOCK!? YES!!! HE'S GOT GLOCK!!!"
- sean151, on 12/30/2008, -1/+8Yes he's a great driver, but the article is heavily biased and I feel as if it is attacking those that criticized his mistakes. Not saying he did not deserve his world championship, just don't appreciate this particular article. Again great driver, biased article.
- jamezracer, on 12/30/2008, -1/+7useless article, fantastic driver! I was literally crying on the last lap of the championship, may have gone insane if he lost!

learn how to use digg properly - s4g4n, on 12/30/2008, -0/+5...and thats why they named Alonso, the spanish driver as the best racer of the year in the UK.
- slicecom, on 12/30/2008, -1/+5What seemed so wrong about it? That's the way the title is clinched pretty much every year.
- Chirp08, on 12/30/2008, -1/+4Draws parallels to drivers in every sport. You spin out when you push the car too far, you run the fastest times when you push the car further then everyone else. The greatest driver finds the limit that they can comfortably run without risking spinning out, we also call that driving smart.
- pdileepa, on 12/30/2008, -4/+7He did nothing of that sort. He was neither the best driver on track this year, nor did he win more races than anyone this year. He won the ch'ship because Ferrari team messed up Massa's race multiple times. Who can forget Hamilton crashing into the back of a stationary Ferrari at the end of the pit lane? Was he in his dreamland thinking of stupid, arrogant statements to make to the press, as he usually does?
Of course, I'll be dugg down. Who cares. Facts are facts. - Ramza32, on 12/30/2008, -2/+5Lewis Hamilton is a good driver in the best car on the grid. Not great, certainly not amazing. He had a good season and certainly deserved to win, but the 2008 season of F1 is going to be remembered as the season where there was far more talent in the smaller teams (Vettel, Alonso) than there was in the top. If you do not believe me take a look at some of his stats and the stats of the runner up: Massa. Lewis had the most points, but less wins than Massa and had only 1-2 times when he set the fastest lap on the track. Massa on the other hand had the most wins but also set a record for most spins in a race. Two good drivers in the fastest cars. Nothing More. Move on, UK.
- jamdogg, on 12/30/2008, -1/+4I think you've missed the point that F1 isn't just about the drivers. Also, the best manufacterers are hardly likely to settle for second-rate drivers. Also, overall consistency and reliability at the sharpest point of motor sport are what decides the champions.
Go and watch nascar. - fandyboy, on 12/30/2008, -0/+3I assume you will say the same thing about Ayrton Senna when he was in a McLaren?
- carbonfilament, on 12/30/2008, -1/+3I know. Makes me for once agree with b ecclestone about the whole medals thing - Man with the highest number of high placed finishes clinches the title. I guess I see his argument that its often not exciting to watch the last 10 laps of the race because no one wants to risk anything. I'm excited that Hamilton won, its just more satisfying when we see him use his skills to win, and not watch him win because another car broke on the last corner.
- dsmx, on 12/30/2008, -2/+4Or Ferrari who broke rules and got away with it or the f1 stewards who changed the rules to make overtaking in the first corner illegal and defending your position against Ferraris illegal.
- carbonfilament, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2I think we can all agree that the stewards need some major overhauling. I agree with you that the british coverage of the races is heavily biased towards Hamilton, but so what? The itv coverage was still better than anything we could get in the states, and I watched coverage from spain, hungary, Italy, whatever I could get my hands on. Its just unfortunate for avid fans such as myself that often can't see the race because no one in this backwards country (USA) shows it. During the final race of 2007 I had to bribe a barkeep to keep the race on in an empty bar at noon because he wanted all of his 14 receivers and 32 tvs to be on different football(american football) matches. Nevermind that I was practically the only one there, the race would be over before any football match started, and it was the beginning of the pre season for them. Not to mention that it was the most exciting and closely contested race in years.
I hope the brit coverage torrents don't get shut down as fast as they did this year. - dsmx, on 12/30/2008, -0/+2Well alonso was at mcclaren last season however because he wasn't going to be the no1 driver there he left, alonso ego got in the way of him having a chance at winning the F1 title this year.
- ryusen, on 01/03/2009, -0/+1well in thia case it came down to tire strategy. Glock thought he could hack it w/o changing tires and that cost him. at the same time, if he had pitted for tires, the time lost int eh pit lane might have cost him too.
- MattBD, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1That's football (or soccer if you prefer). As the saying goes, football is a game played by gentlemen and watched by thugs, while Rugby is a game played by thugs and watched by gentlemen. Also a much more interesting game if you ask me.
- fandyboy, on 12/30/2008, -1/+210/10 for observation.
- Nostromo13, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2At least he's been appreciated for his achievements
http://yeahboss.com/2008/12/26/lewis-hamilton-made ... - ryusen, on 01/03/2009, -0/+1Massa got more wins, but he also got more zero point races. I would have been happy if either driver had won, but the most wins isn't the rules and Lewis won within the rules given.
- pdileepa, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1You can't be a bully on track and get away with it. It was OK to punish Schumi for just moving across the track, but not OK to punish Hamilton when he pushed a number of cars off-track?
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1And this is why no one likes it when britain wins anything.
Their media are sycophantic. - dsmx, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2Yes because the race stewards making it illegal to defend your place against a ferrari or making it illegal to overtake in the first corner, or overtaking in the pitlane had nothing to do with the outcome of the races.
- ryusen, on 01/03/2009, -0/+1I can agree. I am not 100% sure he's the most skilled driver, but he did a lot to make the sport interesting to watch.
- dsmx, on 12/30/2008, -1/+2Your right there the guys in charge of F1 did everything in their power to stop him winning and thanks to that it is now illegal in F1 to overtake in the first corner or defend your position if the car is a ferrari.
- Ramza32, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1No actually I would definitely not. Comparing Senna to Hamilton is a BIG mistake. Senna has had 4 championships for instance, I am not saying Hamilton cannot be "better" than Senna, of course that is possible but it is too early too tell.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1These half white half black, or half black half Asian hybrid kids are taking over the world!
- dsmx, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1So what about when vittel was on the racing line and a ferrari came out of the pits and because he didn't make way for a slower car exiting the pits he gets a drive through penalty?
- mousky, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1"Also, overall consistency and reliability at the sharpest point of motor sport are what decides the champions."
You mean like in NASCAR. - inactive, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1hand of god
Hating the penalty takers, death threats
riots in european countries at football tournies
destroying landsown road in 1994 half way through the game....
;) - TheLastEskimo, on 12/31/2008, -0/+1Digg will not allow enough characters in this comment to fully express my hatred for Lewis Hamilton.
- daridave, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1Lewis helped turned F1 into a crybaby sport, where you feel the racers just wanna claw at each other. He also brought back questioning the point system, because he made it so the man with the most wins actually got 2nd place... and also made us realize once again since Michael Schumacher that these fockos are overpaid for taking part in something that isn't even a sport anymore, but 100% business.
- CNAIF, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1One of the most overwrought articles I've read.
To the author, step away from the thesaurus, it's ruining your stories. - Ramza32, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1Actually, you almost justified my point with your comment jamdogg. Overall consistency and reliability, I agree, are what decides a winner. However, there were far more consistent, quicker drivers on the grid in unreliable cars. Look at Alonso for example or Vettel, both had some amazing drives this year. The reason I am talking about drivers is because this article is ABOUT a driver.
- HappyScrappy, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1That's a pretty stupid article. First of all, it overanalyzes public response to the season. It makes far too big a deal out of his race.
And then it goes way offline and tries to compare him to a fictional TV character.
WTF? - MattBD, on 12/30/2008, -0/+1True, especially the Daily Mail. But we are generally graceful when we lose.
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Well he posted a very fast time around the Top Gear track, almost the fastest one there and he did it on a very wet track.
- retop56, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Me three. I was watching it live on Speed Channel since I'm in the states. I heard David Hobbs yelling "GLOCK MOVED OVER, GLOCK'S GIVING IT TO HIM!!" I couldn't believe my ears, but he won the championship. Pretty awesome.
- goteki45, on 12/30/2008, -2/+2Dugg for truth. ITV aren't doing the F1 commentary this year, hopefully the BBC can be slightly less biased
- inactive, on 12/30/2008, -1/+1Sorry if this popular topic gets in the way of the lame unix articles you need to jerk off with.
- manneredrock, on 01/21/2009, -0/+0lol lewis is a good driver, so are the two ferrari drivers, robert, vettle, Alonso, these drivers stand out from the rest that they can turn the table of a race. through out the F1 season of '08. but it in the end it was down to a little turn of fate the last corner which threw the prize into lewis' hands. im a ferrari fan but i still enjoyed the entire season. when massa crossed the line at brazil i jumped to my feet and was like 'yes! yes!' but as i saw the finshing grid i was like 'what?' and then i saw the reply and was 'aw'. But it was a good season and they're all good, the fastest drivers in the world
- pdileepa, on 12/30/2008, -2/+2Every digg down is a digg up. Digg it down! Hamilton is an over-hyped Brit, a country w/o sporting heroes. I mean, you guys have a South Africa captaining your cricket team! No wonder you Brits make so much out of a loser.
- Susaluda28, on 01/28/2009, -0/+0Pretty ironic! Alonso is the best though.
- Devilboy666, on 12/30/2008, -2/+1He's black too
- rodrigo74, on 12/30/2008, -3/+1Not sure if I understood: so it's great driver, biased article, or the other way around?
- carbonfilament, on 12/30/2008, -5/+2He's an amazing driver, but this year it was strange to watch the silly mistakes made by all the leaders of the championship. And while he won the title fair and square, it just felt so wrong when he crossed the finish line fifth to clinch the title from the man that crossed the line 1st.
Also, FP with one comment?
