- amercer, on 10/16/2008, -2/+51Then bring back the Canadian Grand Prix!
- guardianx, on 10/16/2008, -2/+36that'll teach F1 to abandon Canada...
- PFrocker, on 10/17/2008, -1/+27By this rate we will have 3 races in 2009, thanks Bernie.
- F9Phoenix, on 10/17/2008, -3/+192009 California F1 Grand Prix please, thanks.
- robbh66, on 10/16/2008, -13/+23What happened? Did Lance Armstrong threaten to compete?
- CamperBob, on 10/17/2008, -0/+10Yeah, because fuel-efficiency improvements made by factory racing teams never show up in road cars, or anything.
- ramenite, on 10/17/2008, -1/+11So now there will be another Mideast GP on some cookie cutter track. GO BERNIE GO.
- KaiserArny, on 10/17/2008, -4/+12I've worked in Montreal hotel industry for quite a while. I don't think we should try anything anymore to try to get the Grand Prix back. This is a dying sport. It attracts less and less tourists. Bernie Ecclestone and the FIA think more about lining their pockets with money than the good of the sport. Montreal was one of the best stops for fans, because the track was so close to all the hotels, clubs and the downtown core compared most races were the tracks are in the middle of nowhere.
- ChromaVita, on 10/17/2008, -0/+8Good thing we're in such a great economic situation...
- cyrix, on 10/17/2008, -0/+8You find making nothing but left hand turns more exciting than F1.............
WTF? - inactive, on 10/17/2008, -2/+8NASCAR bhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -1/+7Bad luck France :(
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -1/+6LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL DID YOU JUST COMPARE F1 to NASCAR?
- gsnedders, on 10/17/2008, -0/+5Toyota demoed their F1 car there a few years ago, and unoffically held the lap record for a while (and it was running on super-hard demo tyres — it was far from it's ultimate pace). It's more than possible to get an F1 car around Laguna Seca. However, it simply doesn't meet the safety standard for F1 at all.
- TheR3dMenace, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4sarcasm detectors broken?
- KaiserArny, on 10/17/2008, -2/+6Why do you think the French have financial trouble.Because F1 maybe still big but it's loosing fans fast. Europeans think that it it still growing but they are loosing the Americas fast. Right now F1 is going in the wrong direction as long as Bernie Ecclestone and his cronies keep control of it.
- jcaino, on 10/17/2008, -2/+6Good thing we have bailout money to keep NASCAR going.....
/s - muz777, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4Is this the start of more cancellations I wonder?
- Nephersir7, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4Bring that back to Montréal, because if you do not, evil NASCAR will try to invade us...
- ghuytro, on 10/17/2008, -0/+4I'd love to see that race at Laguna Seca. One of my all-time fav dedicated road course track - probably only 2nd to Spa.
- monoa, on 10/17/2008, -1/+5The only people who'd turn up to watch those cars lumber around the track are the people who hadn't heard the F1 race was cancelled....
- fandyboy, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Yeah Laguna Seca is nowhere near F1 spec I'm afraid. Oh and Spa is NOT a road circuit, if you mean street circuit.
- Sneakernets, on 10/17/2008, -1/+4And that's the reason Montoya left.
- kratsnitram, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Meanwhile, yet another race will go on in the Gulf States. Because they have money to waste on a bullsh*t track in the desert. I hate Bernie Ecclestone as much as I hate Max Mosely. The Dubya/Cheney package of the sporting world...
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Do you really think F1 even registers on the scale for oil consumption on any list anywhere? Motor racing has made huge advances in technology and engineering that help us all. FSI technology for example came from the race track to the production vehicle and boosts economy massively.
- fandyboy, on 10/17/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Will Ferrell film reference.

"i remember the drivers didn't want to come to indy once just because they didn't have good years on their cars, i'll bet these guys wont be so choosy and holier than thou anymore."
Get your facts right. The tyres where exploding on the straight. And at that time, there was Michelin and Bridgestone. - GreenAlien, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2Firstly, if we only use resources on essentials, what's the point in living! What a boring world that would be. Secondly, F1 is carbon neutral.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2But I am le tired...
- digifuzz, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2Maybe AIG can learn something from the french.
- IglooFu, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2Silverstone is already being used next year and Donnington won't be ready until 2010. Hockenheimring is a valid option since Germany is at Nürburgring next year.
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2Not gonna happen because of the corkscrew and if you get a track without it then there is no point because the corkscrew is the trademark of laguna seca. Best bet would be to get Nürburgring and Hockenheimring next year. Alternating these two circuits makes no sense. or better yet, get back suzuka as the Asian GP.
- thetron, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3More likely they will include another euro/uk track that in the rotating calendar. Some Countries F1GP races share 2 tracks and each year they will alternate between the two.
Perhaps Silverstone? - rowlodge, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3i remember the drivers didn't want to come to indy once just because they didn't have good years on their cars, i'll bet these guys wont be so choosy and holier than thou anymore.
- Quiksilver08, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2Thats alright.
Its only France!
Dubai and India have got circuits coming in before 2011 - mirunit, on 10/17/2008, -1/+3I would have actually watched this.
- GreenAlien, on 10/17/2008, -0/+2I doubt there's a substaintial amount of Americans following F1. I've mentioned F1 to a couple of Americans and they didn't even know what it was. You have your own "world" sports.
- Rotaryknight, on 10/17/2008, -0/+1yet there wont be because of the corkscrew. A F1 car would just fly instead of going through it. ALso, it will chew up the bottom.
Though I would love to see it. - anshuman, on 10/17/2008, -2/+3wuhoo, asia will get more chances now. can i see 1 race in mumbai please :D
- inactive, on 10/17/2008, -2/+2Please shut the ***** up. I don't wanna hear any lance, chuck or anything ***** else. I WISH YOU WOULD ALL DIE.
- inactive, on 10/16/2008, -5/+5It will move closer to Paris and Disney. No question.
- infiniphunk, on 10/17/2008, -2/+2exactly. but you will be dugg down by all the rubes for saying so.
- GreenAlien, on 10/17/2008, -3/+3"This is a dying sport."
What planet do you live on. F1 has always been huge and still is. - caterpillar7, on 10/17/2008, -4/+3It is high time all the motor races are cancelled, especially F1. These cars drink the gasoline, our precious resource. The sports itself has become so boring now-a-days, just watching cars being driven fast and that is it. It appears that the only use is as a vehicle for advertisements for multinationals, remember the days of tobacco ads.
- Spuy767, on 10/17/2008, -4/+3No, but it usually degenerates into a three hour game of follow the leader, and who can make the fastest pit stop.
- fandyboy, on 10/17/2008, -4/+3Magny Cours is always a snorefest anyway.
- jerrycan, on 10/17/2008, -5/+3FROMAGE!
- iheartcrack, on 10/17/2008, -6/+4Why not just move one of the NASCAR dates to France?!!?!!
- Whamola, on 10/17/2008, -5/+3In the words of Dr. Tiki: "Curse the French!"
