- LuxFX, on 01/29/2008, -4/+134Reminds me of a joke. I can't remember where I heard this, but:
A wealthy NYC stock broker talks with a loan officer at a bank. He says, he needs to go out of the country for a month, and he needed to take out a short term loan for $5,000. The officer asks what he will be using for collateral, and the man hands the officer the keys to his Ferrari, parked outside. The officer accepts, the man finishes the paperwork, the bank moves the Ferrari into their garage, and the man leaves the bank by taxi. A month later he returns and pays off the entire loan, plus the $50 in interest it accrued. Before he left, the loan officer says, "I really shouldn't be so nosy, but everyone here has just been dying for you to get back so we can ask: why would somebody with a $200,000 Ferrari need a $5,000 loan?" The man replies, "I didn't need the $5,000. But where else in New York City could I park my car for a month for $50?" - addiggt, 12 hr 16 min ago, -0/+120Here's the owner: http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00425/S ...
- LoungeActx, on 01/29/2008, -5/+106In the words of Nelson, "Haha!"
- SilverBack101, on 01/29/2008, -0/+101Pfft! Those plebeians are just jealous. *fixes monocle*
- jwink24, on 01/29/2008, -4/+78It would have been better if the owner ran out and tried to use the "I can't afford a ticket" excuse.
- Dundasbro, on 01/29/2008, -10/+73Wait, they have an expensive car so they are automatically douchebags? Jealous much?
- whymanwhy, on 01/29/2008, -1/+59"Do you find something amusing in my choice of automobile"
- tehxen3, on 01/29/2008, -9/+67Aw, they're jealous. How cute.
- ghm101, on 01/29/2008, -9/+66Why not cheer, I would at least have a good laugh if I saw it.
Who doesn't get irritated when some rich bloke thinks he can park wherever he likes? that normal parking rules do not apply to him.
(or that any parking fine he may get is just loose change to him, now if they towed his car away that would be another story) - inactive, on 01/29/2008, -3/+59I know exactly what the people are feeling. I work at a golf course and constantly see rich old men in their convertable BMW's and corvettes parking where ever the hell they please within the course parking lot. Its like they dont even see the lines drawn on the pavement, so they just decide to park right over them.
- se1zure, on 01/29/2008, -4/+54oh no, I got a $60 parking ticket... what will I ever do? Oh! I know, bask in the fact that I can go 0-60 in under 2 seconds...
Why would a ticket even matter to him? He probably sees it as the only way to assure that he won't get door ding by some random *****. - dogstar0125, on 01/29/2008, -8/+57Yeah, he looks like a right *****.
- FadieZ, on 01/29/2008, -5/+52Yeah, a parking ticket is really gonna be a bitch to pay for THAT guy...
- damnyooneek, on 01/29/2008, -5/+47where i'm from people will key your car if you park like an *****
- Uranium118, on 01/29/2008, -0/+41I concur, good sir, those peasants ought to return to their daily duties.
- RogerStrong, on 01/29/2008, -1/+38And if he can afford not to care about blocking someone's loading dock, he can afford not to care when someone backs a truck up firmly against the side of his car, and uses the roof of his car as a loading dock extention.
- ibooz, on 01/29/2008, -13/+44I don't understand why one would feel compelled to linger about and 'cheer' as someone received a ticket? I can assure you that had this been a geo metro, no one would have even batted an eye. by all means, let's delight in another's misery (deserved or not). after all, it makes us feel better about ourselves, no? and I'm sure that ticket was a pittance for whomever drove the veyron.
- Shawn4168, on 01/29/2008, -8/+39Jealous? They're cheering because this ***** thinks that just because he's got a Bugatti, he's above the rules, and that he deserves to park wherever the hell he wants. I'd cheer too, not because I'm jealous, but because morons like this need to be knocked down a few pegs every once in a while.
- inactive, on 01/29/2008, -9/+40what a wanker
- Campog, on 01/29/2008, -11/+40So, basically a bunch of bitter lower-middle class people gathered around and treated some bobby like a hero for ticketing a rich guy? This guy was obviously a douche for thinking he could park anywhere he wanted, but really, who cares? They act like they are all somehow "sticking it to the man" for the crime of being richer than all of them.
- toppgun, on 01/29/2008, -0/+23yes, I agree. Shallow and pedantic
- 3d150n723n7, on 01/29/2008, -0/+22There are two people getting in the car. Check out the guy on the right in the yellow jacket. He's got the driver's door open about to get in.
- brucerchapman, on 01/29/2008, -3/+24Who cares about the parking ticket? I'm just excited someone is using their Veyron to run errands in a city instead of locking it up in a Museum. 1001 hp to run downtown and pick up a few things? Now that is awesomeness, right there.
- theNazz, on 01/29/2008, -7/+27I think that the owner of that beauty will be laughing right back at them as he pulls away and has somebody 'take care of it' for him ... like Mel Brooks said, 'it's good to be king'.
- stephant, on 01/29/2008, -11/+30What leads you to believe that he thinks he can park anywhere he wants? Oh, I get it, class warfare. You hate whoever this is because they might be rich (I suppose someone cleaning the car could have parked it there but he's guilty by association so it's a moot issue). And if you're rich you always think you can park anywhere you want. God forbid he parked there to run in for second to do something thinking he just might get lucky and not get a ticket (no one here has EVER done such a thing). Or even worse, maybe he didn't realize it was a loading zone. Nope, with your input I've decided he's a rich and he's an ***** that thinks that because he's rich he can park anywhere he wants. Seriously though, I hope me or you don't ever become successful or win the lottery or whatever because we'll have to give away all our money so we won't hate ourselves. Man rich people suck.
Now, just for fun, replace rich with some other group identification such as race. Then we can really get going with this idea of yours. - eternal464, on 01/29/2008, -6/+23like he cares. if he can afford that car, you think a premo parking spot isnt worth the insignificant fine? its better than vallet services in some places.
- Verchiel77, on 01/29/2008, -1/+16Who the hell leaves a $1M+ car in a loading dock, anyway?
- inactive, on 01/29/2008, -0/+15look at the steering wheel at where it is [sic]
- badjoke, on 01/29/2008, -0/+14Quite.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 01/29/2008, -2/+15Isn't Manchuria a region within China.
- RogerStrong, on 01/29/2008, -1/+14If you think that driving an expensive car gives you the right to block someone's loading dock, that's fine. That in turn gives me the right to back a truck against it and use it as an extended loading dock platform.
- Onyxblaze, on 01/29/2008, -3/+14Which apparently wasn't used very much judging by her husband's actions.
- whyufail, on 01/29/2008, -4/+15The elitist douchebaggery on digg is in full force here it seems. Given all the Apple love here too, not shocking. What are you doing on digg guys! Don't you know you're wasting precious time where you could be earning and properly investing superiority bucks!
- kufurex, on 01/29/2008, -0/+11Oh I see, vandalism is much better than parking like a moron.
- namtellum, on 01/29/2008, -0/+11It's left hand drive, *****.
- Aensland, on 01/29/2008, -2/+12You're a ***** moron. You're not supposed to park in certain places because there's a good reason -- e.g. fire hydrant, near corner and possibly obstructing view of traffic, etc. Btw my area has plenty of ***** like you who think they can park anywhere they like e.g. at corners just because they drive huge ***** SUVs. I take great joy in scraping against their sides as I make the turn. Parking spots exist for a reason, asshat.
- AbsurdParadox, on 01/29/2008, -1/+11Indoubetedly!
- Soave, on 01/29/2008, -1/+11Except look at the picture.
- Adgeman, on 01/29/2008, -0/+10I think you got that the other way round. Either way; he's lucky it wasn't in Liverpool :)
- cawpin, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9I wouldn't advocate ***** with somebody's vehicle in any situation, ever. However, if I use my loading dock to throw trash to the curb, so be it.
- Jon211, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9Yeah it is, I'm gonna assume he meant Mancunians
- KMartSheriff, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9Have fun getting your car repainted due to key marks by me.
- Komgol, on 01/29/2008, -1/+10And this, my friends, is why I love *some* European countries "income-based" speeding-ticket (not sure if it applies to parking violations) policy. This guy in Finland got a speeding ticket that works out to be $103,000 USD.
http://www.screaming-penguin.com/node/2396 - Aensland, on 01/29/2008, -1/+10Now suppose some other old fart grazes against your car because you parked at a bad spot? Stay within the lines, what the ***** is so hard about parking properly.
- Kallius, on 01/29/2008, -0/+9You're right, exotic car drivers aren't automatic douchebags. But when they feel that those pesky laws that apply to the commoners really don't matter to them, THEN they are douchebags. Doesn't matter if they cheerfully pay the fine. Parking illegally is not the same as purchasing a good parking spot.
By your condescending post, I'm guessing that you are one of the douchebag-rich, or one of their supporters. - skyshock1, on 01/29/2008, -1/+10I'd write it off as part of the cost of owning the car. *shrug* It's probably WAY cheaper to pay parking tickets than repair door dents.
- techlyc, on 01/29/2008, -2/+10Hey! Thats my dad!! I always wondered what the bastard has been doing with the child support checks all these years...
- Scaryclouds, on 01/29/2008, -1/+9Actually that would be closer to a $120 ticket. The British pound goes for about $2.
- RogerStrong, on 01/29/2008, -3/+11Try it in front of that crowd.
Somehow I don't think they'd be on your side. - shadeOfGrey, on 01/29/2008, -0/+7I think it's more a matter of owning an expensive car and thinking the law doesn't apply to you.

What is Digg?
