- Cararan, on 11/02/2008, -2/+76Probably was texting somebody... Ouch...
- thegamingguy, on 11/02/2008, -2/+64probably some fatalities in that one, that was awful.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -23/+75The Drudge report has just asserted that the driver was a black who purposefully ran into a line of people waiting to vote for John McCain.
- Soave, on 11/02/2008, -0/+39Loudest video ever.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -1/+39The video started with a female reporter, then ended with a stoned male reporter.
- R3v0lution, on 11/02/2008, -11/+45GET OFF THE PHONE WOMAN DRIVER!!!
- flyingclutchman, on 11/02/2008, -3/+30I think the internet has really desensitized me because that was boring. I don't know what it takes to give me that "OH *****!" feeling any more.
- holyskeleton, on 11/02/2008, -6/+30must've sucked to be that first guy she rammed into.
- DentThat, on 11/02/2008, -2/+24Incorrect. Traffic camera's do not pan and zoom in when something crazy happens.
- chugatussin, on 11/02/2008, -1/+22Reminds me when I used to play burnout for ps2...
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -2/+21lucky camera shooting
- MeatPlow, on 11/02/2008, -2/+20...up in this bitch?
- Arkanoid22, on 11/02/2008, -1/+19That'll buff right out.
- jayfarer, on 11/02/2008, -1/+17God damn.
The guy didn't even try to break until maybe 10 feet behind the other car. Must have been terribly distracted. - noahgelman, on 11/02/2008, -1/+17Almost TOO lucky.........
- xsidekick409, on 11/02/2008, -0/+16This is exactly one of the things I fear about being at the beginning of a traffic jam. Absolutely nothing you can do about it.
- sponger58, on 11/02/2008, -1/+13Brake not break.
- wmouazzen, on 11/02/2008, -2/+13"Do a barrel roll!"
- tnoy, on 11/02/2008, -0/+10That almost happened to me once. Luckily for me, the driver was smart enough to veer to the left and go between me and the divider.
- wibambau, on 11/02/2008, -0/+9yep, all up in that bitch.
- jhop, on 11/02/2008, -1/+10Not true. You can often avoid the impact, and pass it to the car in front of you:
1) Leave a bit more space in front of your car than you would if you were parallel parked.
2) Whenever you're stopped on a road, pay MUCH more attention to your rear view mirror than the car stopped in front of you. Any time there's a significant chance that there could be a rapidly approaching vehicle from behind, this applies.
3) Be prepared - at a moment's notice - to pull out of line ( in this case, to the left), hug the line, and move forward 50 feet.
Potential side effect could include, but are not limited to, extreme feelings of guilt when the car that was in front of you gets destroyed. - rockerszz, on 11/02/2008, -0/+9Seeing it in reality might yield such an effect.
- tsitneics, on 11/02/2008, -12/+21It was a dumb bitch in that bitch.
- sgerwel1985, on 11/02/2008, -1/+9I guess that is one way to try and get through traffic...
- kozie, on 11/02/2008, -1/+8Statistics show that women tend to drive into stationary objects whereas men tend to drive into moving objects.
- ssr11, on 11/02/2008, -0/+7People are such idiots! Watch what your doing!
- purex01, on 11/02/2008, -0/+6It is really important to switch on your warning lights for a while when you get to an end of a line like this...It would probably not have helped here but maybe in some other line...
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -0/+6That crash would have just been a "bronze medal" worthy.
- doublefelix, on 11/02/2008, -0/+6Hard braking. Good rider from the looks of it. Almost sounds like he managed to gear down too.
- Rememberthe0511, on 11/02/2008, -2/+8Yes, when everyone knows that women are not allowed to drive.
(It's a joke, har har.) - inactive, on 11/02/2008, -1/+6By ration of diggs up/down we will find out the gender ratio of digg users. About time...
- DirtySanch, on 11/02/2008, -1/+6Thank you Ms. Buzz Killington
- nurbsenvi, on 11/02/2008, -0/+5Obviously it's been Photoshoped frame by frame.
- kozie, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5@bananasluggy
"Actually it's male drivers that speed."
This is true.
"and do crap like that".
I'm assuming that by "crap like that" you mean hit a stationary object. Which is something woman do much more often.
Your first assertion is true, but it doesn't apply to this situation, you can't say/see that the person was speeding. Running into a stationary object. That you can assert.
Which leaves us to estimate, but statistics that this was a female driver. - dpoon, on 11/02/2008, -0/+4On the Autobahn, it's customary to flash your hazard lights for a few seconds when you see a traffic jam ahead, to propagate that information back. It REALLY helps to get that warning when driving fast!
- a117, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5"Use the boost to get through!"
- Myztry, on 11/02/2008, -0/+4Getting hit like that will do it to you. I got hit like that though not nearly as bad.
The screech of rubber seems to be coming from everywhere.
Even when you realize what's happening there's no where to go.
All you go do is close your eyes and wait for the impact.
And hope it's not the last thing you'll ever hear... - doublefelix, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5That motorcyclist behind him was also hauling ass, but he was paying attention and went from around 75mph to under control in about a second.
I feel for the poor people that guy rear ended. - Scr4tchFury, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5Actually, brake then break. And then death.
- CobolNoFun, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5she locked em up alright. The problem was most cars stop from highway speeds in 150-200 feet; she tried to stop in 10.
My guess is on the cellphone, and also in the wrong lane i might add. - Greg2k, on 11/02/2008, -1/+5That one wasn't. It was recorded on a bridge over Madrid's M-30 freeway by your typical news reporter. A traffic camera would never pan and zoom like this one did.
- FreeTalkLIve, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3Always check your rear view mirror while sitting at traffic jams and red lights.
- inactive, on 11/02/2008, -2/+5Why wouldn't insurance cover this?
- Eagle193, on 11/02/2008, -7/+10you assume the driver was a "she"
- Virgule, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3I actually saved my sorry ass like that in 2001 at a sudden traffic jam caused by an accident. Good ending for everyone.. I nearly locked the wheels just to stop in time. Still got 1.5 to 2 meters clearance in front. I knew the car behind me couldn't make it so I floored it and steered in the left and off the highway. Im glad I did since he managed to stop a meager meter off the other car's bumper. He would have plowed right thru me.
It happened right here:
http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=46.732449,-71.2 ... - sexybobo, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3Oddly enough i have seen that cause a wreck. The person stopped didn't think they guy behind him was going to stop in time so he pulled over to the shoulder and the guy driving fast didn't think he would be able to stop in time so he server over to the shoulder also.
Chances are though what you said is the right thing to do. - dpknc84, on 11/02/2008, -1/+4You do realize that those things just don't run themselves right? They can be adjusted remotely and this was probably being monitored due to the giant traffic jam.
Frickin' conspiracy theorists. - inactive, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3No Darwin award when stupid act hurts or kills innocent bystanders.
- unusualbob, on 11/02/2008, -0/+3DOT cams are PTZ in most locations, and even if it wasnt that could have been done with digital zoom like they use on all those 'Wildest videos' shows.
- Soave, on 11/02/2008, -1/+4Also, Obama was in the front seat, using a Ubuntu laptop to submit a screenshot of Digg comments.
