- Lasereth, on 01/26/2009, -0/+49Sorry to nitpick but that's definitely not 100 MPH when they do the spins. Great driving though.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+40Well, looks like I'll never be running from the police..
- WeaselMan69, on 01/26/2009, -2/+38Are they racing for donuts?
- hansemann, on 01/26/2009, -8/+31Americans driving stick. Is it possible?
- LJU1492, on 01/26/2009, -1/+23CHP Course - Drift Racing 101
- Haax, on 01/26/2009, -2/+22This is not driver "training", it's a demonstration. Why do people have to add their own sensationalist spin to the titles?
- poopdigger, on 01/26/2009, -0/+18Maybe not directly useful, but having that kind of control over a car that starts to spin out is a good skill to have if you're going to be involved in frequent high speed pursuits, particularly in populated areas
- cawpin, on 01/26/2009, -1/+18This isn't training, it's their demonstration team. Yes, they're probably the instructors FOR the training but this isn't included.
- spepin, on 01/26/2009, -1/+17Well, California DOES like police chases, I guess it's only fitting.
- gllopc, on 01/26/2009, -0/+11"Professional Driver on a Closed Course"
- docbaily, on 01/26/2009, -4/+15I'm calling this one fake. I've yet to see a cop practicing proper driving techniques on the street let alone being able to hold a drift.
- EndersGame, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9I work down the street from the CHP Academy in Sacramento and I hear the squad cars racing down that track all the time. When they do demonstrations like that its open to the public so I get to stop by every once in a while and see this stuff in person. Often they will work the helicopter into the demo as well (Having it almost land on the formation of the squad cars)
- nwoantibody, on 01/26/2009, -1/+9am i the only one who was wondering why the hell the siren was on all the time?
- flammablewater, on 01/26/2009, -1/+9cop cars are all auto, those are for stunt driving only
- mywrist, on 01/26/2009, -0/+8Those Mustangs were actual cars used by the CHP and they were actually stick. Unfortunately they have all been retired.
- shamos, on 01/26/2009, -2/+9Those 360's would really come in handy in a high speed pursuit...
- Badfish2, on 01/26/2009, -1/+8I want a goddamn litre o' cola!
- vikingboy, on 01/26/2009, -1/+8Dont be a pussy... they always give up if you are fast enough..
well.. in Need for Speed anyways - DeanO1589, on 01/26/2009, -0/+7They can do this but couldn't manage to do the PIT on OJ?
- SillyRabbits, on 01/26/2009, -2/+8If they drove like that you might actually be able to get away. Sliding around curves is a lot slower than taking the proper path. If it were faster then that's what you would see every time you watched a road race. Instead, this is just Hollywood "performance" driving.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6I don't think you should have to apologize for calling an embellished description out for what it is. I hate watching videos with this sort of description around. Same thing applies on shows like Real TV. "He was missed by an *inch* and avoided certain death!" when the power wheels was a good 6 ft from the person traveling at a whopping 3mph, etc.
This description isn't even timid about it. The describer really expects you to think they were doing 100mph 360 degree spins. - zantos420, on 01/26/2009, -0/+6i was more impressed by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSfgyvHGFeY
- hiphopfred, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Pretty impressive. What year was that video made?
- DoctorOctagon, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Maybe next time they'll be ready for this dude.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmRS_d0iHhU
Nah, probably not. - Coven, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Because it wont make the FP otherwise
- Nickdotnet, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5Impressive, but that wasn't CHP driver training. CHP officers don't go thru that coordinated of a driver training. That was a CHP stunt group practicing their performance. I've seen them live - very impressive, but def. not run of the mill training...
- flammablewater, on 01/26/2009, -1/+5booo! starts with a commercial!
- PGPirate, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4It would have been REALLLY impressive if they did the 360 spin in that tight formation. That would be bad ass!
- castletech, on 01/26/2009, -2/+5I saw a video of a five year old driving in saudi arabia which was way more impressive. Even still don't try to run from police even if your a good driver. Radio travels at the speed of light.
- dienaked, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Are those actual police cruisers?
I've never seen a cop car that didn't have an automatic transmission. - Namco, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Steering wheel looks like a friggin' coffee saucer in that cop's hand.
- theflash42, on 01/26/2009, -1/+4I don't have any donut jokes. That was pretty cool.
- commenter01, on 01/26/2009, -2/+5Seems like a case of the DWS... Donut Withdrawal Syndrome.
- diggit83, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3A highschool friend was killed by a head-on collision with a woman who was being chased at highspeed through town. The woman simply ran a redlight, and the cop pursued relentlessly at speeds over 100mph. The woman is receiving 25 years for vehicular manslaughter, but the cop was only suspended WITH PAY for one week.
Allison would be 24 last month. - groo68, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3It's probably because they have so much dry open road that the temptation for speeding is great.
- ezflip, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3I gotta call shanagines (sp?) anyway, CHP officers don't drive manual transmissions as you see in the video.
- elperegrino, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3dugg for twisted metal II soundtrack
- vikingboy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Yo dawg we heard you like donuts...
- 1807, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Good lord, that is a lot of bacon.
- tgc1, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Early 90's by the looks of it.
- tgc1, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3"What? Donut Sale!?"
- castletech, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Donuts for donuts. If you fail you must get the coffee for a month.
- supertom, on 01/26/2009, -4/+7I could never digg something from "GreatAmericans.com".
- CoronaVegas, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Apparently, California's state budget is in the red because of all the tires needed for the CHP.
- inferno10, on 01/26/2009, -1/+4Could have used the theme to CHiPs instead...
- TD_Birds, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Anyone else notice the guy waving his arm out of the window mid-360?
- edmcguirk, on 01/26/2009, -2/+5I race. I know cops who race.
In any large group of people there will be a few people who study that kind of skill for fun.
Then there will be a few cops who do not race but they get paid to train those same skills.
So, yeah, those are cops. - inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Yea for real..thats intense.
- FlyingCaveman, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Video would be much better with the soundtrack to "The Blues Brothers"
- Enchorito, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2This makes me miss the show "CHiPs". Nothing like a good multi-car pileup for entertainment.
