Jamie Hacking had his wheels literally off the ground, was skidding on his elbow and knee, and still saved it. - BroadcastEng, on 06/03/2009, -1/+14Do yourself a favor and
1) Take an MSF course before you get on a bike.
2) Buy a full set of gear
3) Buy a bike you can handle
4) Ride within your limits.
Peace - akchrs, on 06/03/2009, -0/+7Scott Russel at the 2001 Daytona 200

Good to know they still have MotoGP in the year 20,007. - BIRDIE495, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4thats AMA sportbike, not MotoGP
- fishtoprecords, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4Most of these are just normal track crashes. A couple are scary. A lot of them are in the pea gravel, which is designed to slow everything down.
- fingaz, on 06/03/2009, -0/+45) Pretend like no car can see you (especially when they are making a left turn)
- williamlee, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4Caption for the last pic: "Man, ***** this bike!"
- CyclonusRIP, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3I liked the one where his wheel came off
- scribby, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3World Superbike
- Catchpen, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3Dugg for mentioning Scott Russel
- PhairOh, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3I'm actually buying my first bike TODAY. Did this really have to show up on the front page on this of all days?
- namezod, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3I have a burning desire to play Road Rash now.
- roomforpanic, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2Don't claim camel toe when it's camel tail.
- yournightmare, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2Yea. 6 years ago I was wearing a full riding suit with armor, full-face helmet, boots, and gloves. I high-sided doing somewhat over 70mph. Had surgery on my right shoulder, right elbow, both ankles, and left wrist.
After high-siding I was lying in the middle of a field and someone who saw the crash came to check on me. The first thing I asked him was if I wrecked my motorcycle, the second thing I asked him was if my bike was OK or not. It was totaled :( At least I had the presence of mind to flirt with the cute EMT that showed up, but I was so scatterbrained that what I ended up saying to her was "Damn, you're cute. Do you come here often?" - robjohnston, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2in the words of Murray Walker - "Motorsport is Dangerous"
- ijake, on 06/03/2009, -0/+214 is kind of hilarious actually
http://cache1.asset-cache.net/xc/1183637.jpg?v=1&a ... - Hellahulla, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2Came here to say the same thing.
- damawa42, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2Brilliant. A load of completely out of context mediocre crash photos.
For some real motorbike wow, try: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbi ... - VisualRhetoric, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Here you go...
"(insert name) fell off" - KevinWhite, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Come on, there are way scarier out there...a bunch of them were just lowsides!
http://www.guzer.com/pictures/bike-racer-run-over. ... - MacBandit, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1You could have made all 24 pictures pics of Rapp wrecking. The guy throws away more perfectly good bikes in a few years than most do in an entire career. There's a reason that a lot of race fans have nicknamed big wrecks "Taking a Rapp".
- jordantneff, on 06/03/2009, -1/+2Holy *****! Image 16 was taken 17,998 years in the future!
- scribby, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Absolutely! Scott Russell was well-known for his crashes. He was called The Doctor even before Valentino Rossi. Nice name-drop!
- FXNGLAS, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1For those that don't own a bike, even though they wear gear, it's mostly protecting their skin when they're sliding. When they go boom, that ***** hurts like a *****.
- make7upyours06, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1is it just me or do these photographs not do enough justice to the real presentable danger of motorcycle racing? I mean the pictures don't look so 'scary' hahaha...
- jsherlock, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1not a bad list but I want a description of each one...I dunno WTF is going on in most of them
- martoq, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1I remember a Daytona 200 prior to this video where Scott Russel crashed on the second lap. Got back up on the bike with a 1/2 a front break lever and 1/2 a shifter pedal, came back and but then end one the race. One of the most amazing pieces of riding I had ever seen. He was one of the greats.
- KevinWhite, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1They totally have to remake that game!
- smurfhell, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1What about Jorge Lorenzo? He even has his own comic book...
http://www.motogp.com/en/photos/2008/Jorge+Lorenzo ... - VisualRhetoric, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1They need to add Kid Yamamoto's wife to that list!
- diggitupyall, on 06/10/2009, -0/+1No ***** Captain Obvious
- CaptainSoviet, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1You have to check out Raffaele De Rosa's save in the 250cc qualifying this past weekend. He's completely off the bike and yet hangs on to the handle bars and gets back on.
http://www.motogp.com/en/videos/2009/Raffaele+De+R ... - mauigreen, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1youtube is your friend, watch them happen!
- Hellahulla, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1I liked the one with the bike crashing.
- klipz, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1This one from the Isle of Man is one of the worst I've seen.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Nzq2GorVH4 - scribby, on 06/04/2009, -0/+1Yes, I watched that race too!!! Cheers to a fellow motorcycle enthusiast!
- upick, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Nothing better than a good old High Side photo!
- martoq, on 06/03/2009, -1/+1And when your done looking at this awesome photos...This was a sidebar link on that same page that I think was worth checking out:
http://www.life.com/image/first/in-gallery/23043/3 ... - phylum, on 06/03/2009, -0/+0if you've ever watched this stuff they usually jump right back up, the suits are made of leather and protect them from most cuts from the asphalt.
- rhoonah, on 06/03/2009, -0/+0Congratulations dude. Ride safe and have fun. What kind of bike are you getting?
- hashfail, on 06/03/2009, -1/+1lol. #14 Ur doing it wrong.
- bartleby, on 06/03/2009, -1/+1Why does it say "scary" shouldn't it say "hilarious" ? I mean that sideshow could use a laugh track
- focussingapore, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0God saved him
- BIRDIE495, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0think again
- Arashi, on 06/04/2009, -0/+0Just bought myself one too.. and saw this..
Have to keep it away from the missus - rhoonah, on 06/03/2009, -0/+0They may protect them from road rash but leather doesn't protect from breaking bones when crashing into the asphalt.
- drivingalone, on 06/03/2009, -1/+1These are nothing compared to that time Will Ferrell threw a burrito at Jack Black.
